Eight Stone Gates: Taking Thoughts Captive

Rate this book
Scripture has a lot to say about thinking. What God thinks about us, what we think about God and what we should think about people, events and issues. Paul writes in Philippians 4:8: "Finally brothers, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things." This book will expand your understanding of Paul's admonition with direct exposition and engaging stories.

I enjoyed this as a devotional book but eventually felt annoyed by the repetition and colloquial tone. It was insightful but not very professional.

Clearly gives a detailed explanation for each of the thought processes on Phil 4:8, and has a great use of repetition to really remind the reader of the continuous principle of the message. Great use of biblical and non biblical stories to serve as practical examples to use. Not the most complex piece of literature, however I think that’s fitting for the message and it served its purpose

Outstanding. I used it n teaching a mixed age womas's study at my church. It was well received. It's the kind of little book you could read again Dan has a way of writing that all man, but, he is also a family man and, tho his are mostly male oriented, they translate well to women
Try it, you'll be glad you did. It's a great series
