I am a full time mother and part time writer. I live in a small country town in Victoria Australia. I have been writing ever since I learned to read, and almost endlessly drifting off into the fantasy world of my imagination.

Thankfully, I have a great group of supporting writer friends; a husband and three; currently small children who help keep me grounded.

When I’m not day dreaming of creating new worlds for my stories or madly typing away on my laptop. I have plenty to keep me busy on the home front.

Adalardo is King of the Kells, a race of people on another planet. Nearly all of their women have been killed in a war with the Drac, so the remaining men including the king are looking for mates among the women of Earth. Penny Summerton is an unhappy, battered wife who despises her husband. She lives for the times that her husband is not at home and she can have some time to herself. When Penny uses some of her free time to go to the outdoor market with the hopes of finding some fresh fruits and vegetables, she has no idea she is about to run into her own future. Because she is not watching where she is going, she runs smack into Adalardo then falls down and cracks her head on the ground. She is unprepared for the handsome king to help her up and treat her tenderly. Unfortunately, the smack on her head causes her to faint and Adalardo and Jane, his best friend's wife, take her back to Jane's apartment. Adalardo knows right away that Penny is the woman for him and that he wants her for his queen, but she is married and, as such, off-limits. However, everything changes when the police show up at Jane's door and they are forced to return to Kell, taking Penny with them. Penny sees Kell as the perfect opportunity to escape her abusive husband forever, but when she confesses her wish and the fact that she is an abused wife to Adalardo, he has other ideas. Adalardo wants to bring her husband to Kell and challenge him, thus beating him and winning Penny for his own. But there are other forces at work, forces that could take Penny from Adalardo forever. Will his plan backfire, or will the Kells and their human spouses be able to overcome a great evil?

Stealing Fire has everything you could ever want in a fantasy romance! I absolutely LOVED it! Ms. Castle does a fantastic job of incorporating all of the elements this reader loves in a romance novel: fantasy, aliens, supernatural bad guys, and characters that have a wonderful humanness to them. The wizard Tuthal ended up being one of my favorite secondary characters simply because of his willingness to realize he had made a mistake in his youth. It made him easy to relate to. In truth though, and this is another plus for this novel, all of the characters are easy to relate to. I also loved the chivalry of the Kell men when it came to human women. They simply cannot understand men or a society that abuses women and does not treat them as the treasures they are. I really liked that. Also, Ms. Castle has a real talent for incorporating realistic secondary characters into the story line, and I really enjoyed getting to know a bit about all the other players in the world of Kell. I am definitely looking forward to reading the first book in this series, Blue Fire, and any succeeding books in the future. Please keep them coming Ms. Castle, I for one will be buying! I liked book one of the Kingdom of Kell series and the way it ended left me looking forward to book two. When I finally settled down to read it I was disappointed that there was quite a lot of 'in book' time that passed before book two began. All the important stuff was there in the story basically, but I think the relationship development that was skimmed over would have added depth to the story. I also would have liked to have heard more from Penny's husband. Though maybe I was just wanting to actually see him suffer more because of her loss as well as physically. It was a good light read with plenty of sexy to satisfy my smut requirements without it being emotionally taxing. I really needed that from this book.

I kind of wish that the author would've wrote a separate book or a little novella in between the first book and this one for Tuthal and Tamara.

Several weeks or month (who the heck knows) have passed between the ending of the first book and this one. Many Kell warriors have found women to be their Protected but the king of Kell Adalardo is still searching for his future queen.
I actually hated the woman, Penny, that he ended up getting with. She's been in an abusive relationship with her husband for years and tried running, but never to people who could help her. Why? Because she didn't want the pity of strangers?? But yet you just met Adalardo and are telling him your life story and already confessing love? Yeah I'm not buying it.

Tuthal has needed a woman who has a soul that bright and pure to trade for his, but when the time comes he can't part with his Tamara. Again I really wish a novella or story was done on Tuthal and Tamara between the first and the second because we know absolutely NOTHING about these two. Then she just forgives him as if he did nothing wrong? I'm seeing a trend here. The Kell men like self conscience doormats for women.

Hate rating an indie author badly but:

I like the first one enough. As I mentioned it was 'fun' and light. This installment I found myself highlighting the constant typos and grammar issues. I'm not the queen of grammar and I've forgotten a ton of grammar rules myself over the years but this book screamed for a good editor. The story while passable- felt very rushed because it wraps up Tamara's story. It's badly paced for Tamara's story because all of her 'falling in love' with Tuthal is just glossed over and only seen in the present and in retrospect. (Tuthal does have to win her back this book but that's just not the same, seeing as that wasn't really much of a struggle) Additionally, while I also laud the use of alternative types of heroines/background I kind found myself disliking Penny's story immensely. Abused doormat wife finds escape through alternative world and hunky king that sucks her toes- no thanks.
Because of all of this- I'd say read it if you really don't mind a ton of errors in text and a passable story. Too much of the plot was dished out vs developed.

Fun, fast read

Penny is miserable in a marriage to an abuser. The Kell have set up a match business to find the men of Kell women of their own to protect and love. The Kell king finds Penny and promises she will be his queen. With demons, misunderstandings and the police looking for missing women you are guaranteed a quick fun read with lots of hot moments.
