Badlands
The murder of her only relative forces Camryn Carmichael, a lonely young doctor to choose between her dream career in a Houston research hospital and a rural practice close to rancher, Breckenridge T. This was a good tale of romance, and the difficult choices a woman has to make between true love or the stable tried-and-true plan, interwoven with a great deal of danger, a murder, three men in pursuit of our heroin for her affections, and a fourth who wants her dead, and all taking place in my beloved Texas. Really well done!

Paint the Town Red…Before You Get Dead
At times, Camryn Carmichael experiences premonitions as tingles of apprehension. When a trio of busybodies descends upon her after her Aunt Silky's death, Cami shivers as they tell her of the "dirty tricks" played by a rival rancher to get his paws on Moonshadows, her aunt's ranch.
Engaged to her stuffy, long-time boyfriend, stockbroker Clay, Cami feels confused by her attraction to the handsome and exciting Breckenridge T. Ryan. Her aunt's lawyer, Breck owns the ranch adjoining Moonshadows.
When Cami hears the terms of the will, she's torn. She wants to pursue her fellowship in Immunology. At the same time, she wants to fulfill her aunt's last wishes.
The Doctor's Choice-Badlands, by J. D. Faver, is a lively and interesting contemporary Western romance. The dialogue is well-written and the plot includes the spice of unsolved murder.

Good guy or stalker???
the hero was just one way from being categorized as a stalker. if a woman says no, then it means no. You can't do it anyway because you're the hero and you "know" she loves you. he does good things, but I found him just a little bit creepy. ok, more than just a little (based on my review ;) ). he tells himself that he needs to back off, and yet the first time he sees her again he tries kissing her and pushing her beyond her comfort zone. not impressed.
also, since we're on the topic: the story never gives a reason on why cami made the decision to finally stay and give up her dreams. she did it, but it never said why. except that the groom was hot.
clay and Breck, both have the same pet name for her. seemed weird especially for a very competent dr. who knew what she was doing. Breck was constantly telling her how great she was and yet called her that?? a little disappointing.

The Doctor's Choice-Badlands, is a compelling romance novel with much more than that. I loved the easy dialog and suspenseful storyline that kept me glued to the pages. This is a great book that really got me thinking. In life sometimes things don’t go as planned and you have to switch things around a bit…or as in this case, a lot!!! Life is unpredictable so why waste time on planning it all out. You just never know what or who is about to cross your path.
This story moved at an entertainingly quick pace and pulled me in right from the first page.
“A prickle of goose flesh alerted Cami’s senses to danger. She peered over the canyons rim, experienced a wave of panic as she imagined falling to the depths below. Her boots sent a shower of loose rocks skittering down the face of a red-hued cliff. She stepped back, colliding with Breck’s solid form.”

Cami is a doctor in Houston who is to begin a fellowship in Immunology in two weeks and is engaged to a stockbroker named Clay. Cami's Aunt Silky dies and leaves Cami her large ranch in the country but the will states that Cami has to live on the ranch for one year before she inherits. Then she can decide to stay there or sell it. Her aunt's lawyer is Breckenridge T. Ryan who is also her neighbor. Cami suspects that her aunt's death was not an accident and works on finding out if it was or not. Will she be able to find out and stay safe?
I enjoyed this story about a city girl going out to the country and riding horses. I was surprised at how fast Cami and Breck fell for each other. It seemed a bit quick to be believable. I liked the mystery surrounding Aunt Silky's death. I wondered if Frank and E.J. were good guys or bad and that made it even more riveting.

really good!! I couldn't seem to put this down. Great characters and a really good mystery in it too. The story behind E.J. was quite a shock to me. I didn't see that coming at all. I would really like to carry on with stuff from this author. I do wish the next book was about Milita rather than crap face Jenna and E.J.

I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review. This book was amazing!! It had me hooked from start to finish. The plot to this book was great. I will be recommending this book to friends and family!!

Charming
