Meet Mel Beeby, the feisty, trouble-shooting, trouble-making angel - in this sparkling 3-in-1 edition of her first three adventures! In Winging It, Melanie Beeby, just thirteen, has been permanently removed from the late 20th Century by a speeding joy rider. She is elevated to another place, where she attends the Angel Academy. When she is asked to join an elite trouble-shooting group, Angels Unlimited, she is sent on a trial mission to London during the Blitz... In Losing the Plot, Mel has now passed her exams to become a full member of the Agency. When she, Lola -- her best-angel friend -- and Reuben are sent on a mission to Shakespearean England, she realises that she must be fully alert and on the ball, if England is not to miss out on the greatest play-writing talent the earth will ever know! And in Flying High, even angels need to chill out, and Mel's been looking forward to Lola's birthday beach party for weeks. So she's not impressed when Michael volunteers her and her angel mates for a medieval field trip. But when they get there, they stumble upon a time scam which could have serious repercussions for the future!
Annie grew up as an only child in the English countryside during the 1950s. Her father was not always around but when he was, he would tell her fantastical stories, often with her as the principal character. Annie missed him and his stories, which led her to the fantasy section at her local library, thus sparking life-long love of fiction.
After undertaking jobs such as waitressing, cleaning and factory work, Annie went on to study at University of Warwick and soon started writing.
Annie lives in Norfolk. She has three children, Anna, Reuben, and Maria (the inspiration for the first “Angels Unlimited” book, “Winging It”) and two grandchildren, Sophie and Isabella.
Loved these books when I was younger! My mom had to order them from the UK Amazon website-looking back, I don't think I ever put two and two together and really got that it's a british series. I was young and kinda dumb, okay. It's a fun series for tweenage and maybe early teens, and I'm enjoying the reread despite being heavily outside of the target range. Mel is impressively well written in the sense that she reads Very Much like a thirteen year old girl, and the side characters are honestly really sweet.
Angels Unlimited was one of my favourite series around the age of 13. Later the series was renamed to Agent Angel and now goes under Angel Academy.
The Heavenly Collection contains the first three books in the series – Winging It, Losing the Plot and Flying High. Re-reading them was so much fun. I could totally see why I enjoyed these books when I was younger. I constantly checked the library system for new releases and would be disappointed when there were none.
I'm also surprised at how much I had still remembered. Shows how memorable the premise was: Mel died in a road accident and found herself at school in heaven. Turns out she became an angel. Together with her friends she chose history as a subject which allowed them to time travel. Of course, since they were angels, their mission was to save humans assigned to them.
Was feeling nostalgic so reading some of my old favourites, the Angels Unlimited series is just as amazing as I remember. Draws you in really quickly and makes you invested.
Everything I remember about this series was great! The story focuses on a young girl, who dies and ascends to Heaven, a well populated and extraordinary city in the sky. She quickly makes friends and travels through time, meeting some famous historical faces along the way! It is the first three books in the series and there is an overriding series arc that I never got to read, but the individual stories were well-written and worth a read.
Well. I really didn't like the first book, but the other two were okay. It's actually so funny on how much Melanie is like my cousin. This is probably why she liked the book so much
