This dynamic four-week church campaign uses the story of Honi the circle maker, who prayer-walked his way around a devastating drought in first-century BC Israel until the rains came, to help you and your entire church begin to identify the dreams and future miracles to draw circles around to find your answers from God. Four video sessions expand on the teaching from Mark Batterson's book of the same name and combine a teaching element with a creative element to draw you into the circle. The participant's guide provides teaching notes, discussion questions, Bible study, and between-session activities. Each session wraps up with a practical application called 'Draw the Circle,' giving you the opportunity to put your prayer principles you have learned into practice. This curriculum kit * one hardcover book * one participant's guide * one DVD-ROM containing four small-group video sessions, a getting started guide, four sermon outlines, and all the church promotional materials needed to successfully launch and sustain a four-week church experience. * one 'Getting Started' guide The curriculum can be used in a variety of ways -- as a whole church campaign (adult congregation), adult Sunday school, small-group study, or individual use. Awesome book! One of the best I've read on prayer. Very practical. Although I've never been a fan of the 2nd part of the phrase "pray like it depends on God and work like it depends on you" I understand the point it is making. I think it is more biblically accurate just to say: Pray, because everything depends on God, period. Then walk in the calling with which you have been called. Another way you could say this (and a more Biblical statement in my opinion) is Pray in faith, and walk in faith. (James 1:6 & 2 Corinthians 5:7) Nevertheless - praying circles while walking in circles is a great way to pray!
It was an encouraging reminder that prayer really makes a HUGE difference. And prayers we pray live beyond us--just like seeds. A carob tree seed takes 70 years for fruition--much like some of our prayers.
A lot of out of context scripture reference. Seems borderline prosperity reference since it showed nearly all miracles as financial. Could have done a lot better in not portraying a lifestyle of manipulating God.
Didn't quite finish the entire book because it got lost! But I enjoyed it. It definitely challenges you to go deeper with your prayer and really ask God and pray about what you want.
