Yukiru Sugisaki (杉崎ゆきる; Sugisaku Yukiru in Japanese) is a Japanese manga artist. Her hobbies are dramas, video games, and "collecting rabbit things". Sugisaki's face is rarely seen, as she prefers to draw herself with a rabbit face or mask in her manga profile images. She also seems to have developed a trait of leaving her series unfinished before moving on to different projects (Notably D.N.Angel, which has seen multiple month-long droughts between chapters. She has just recently done many Lagoon Engine installments, including the Japanese release of volume 7. Previous to that, she completed a small series entitled Eden, which had its debut in the October 2006 issue of Shōnen Ace, and finished in February 2007. It saw a departure of sorts from Sugisaki's previous series, with a darker, sci-fi noir theme and older protagonists.
Currently, she finished D.N.Angel in 20 volumes (5 released only in digital).
Her work
She made her debut in "Asuka Magazine" with "Namaiki no N". Her other works include "D.N.Angel (13 volumes, unfinished) ", "Rizelmine (1 volume, finished)", "Lagoon Engine (7 volumes, unfinished)", and "Lagoon Engine Einsatz (1 volume, unfinished)". Her "D.N.Angel" manga and "Rizelmine" manga have also been adapted into anime series. Because the D.N.Angel manga was incomplete at the time, the anime has many differences to the original manga, most notably the ending.
Sugisaki is also the artist of the "BrainPowerd" and "The Candidate for Goddess" manga, both of which have been turned into an anime. Her "Neutral" artbook contains artwork from "D.N.Angel", "BrainPowerd", and "The Candidate for Goddess". Her second artbook, [FEDER:] (which is no longer available for purchase), contains newer artwork solely from D.N.Angel. She has also penned the well-known "Sotsugyo M", and created doujinshi for series such as "Tenkuu no Escaflowne", Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lets&Go , and King of Fighters.
Most of her works feature young, cute main characters and elements of Yaoi, though not considered Yaoi.
Her current project is D.N.Angel, which has finally begun serializing in Monthly Asuka again.
Never been a fan of Takeshi. Argentine intrigues me; I'm not quite ready to call him a villain, but I see no good coming from him, either. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him in the next book.
This volume returned to the tired old tropes of Risa or Riku getting into trouble and Daisuke having to save them. It’s happened so often that even Argentine, a new character, a former Hikari work of art, and his motivations has to include the weary, repetitive damselling in his trap. Dark’s reluctance to help Daisuke was interesting, although it contradicted the premises already laid about sacred maidens and Dark’s own feelings. The scenes with Emiko and Satoshi were intriguing, but at this point Risa and Riku have gotten into trouble so often, a trope that already felt contrived, it’s gotten tiresome. I’m still curious about some of the ongoing arcs involving Satoshi, the Hikari, and the Niwa family, but the Harada twins are seriously dragging the overall plot and its vitality with their damselling.
I wish things were explained better in this series, or in this translation, whatever is the problem, because I still understand very little. So Dark can hurt Daisuke if Daisuke reaches out/summons Dark while he is angry. Dark and Krad are somehow two halves of a whole, and got separated at some point. Argentine is an unfinished artwork that wants to be like Dark? Or like what Dark and Krad would be if they're one again? And now there's this weird ass concept of a Sacred Maiden, and Riku passing out along side Risa. I understand so very little at this point, but the art is very pretty.
The main theme in this book is to stay calm in bad situations. You have to control your anger so it does not control you. The main character Daisuke is torn up-inside because one of his friends was kidnapped and his girlfriend got hurt but he couldn’t do anything to stop that from happening to either one of them. He also has a special power to turn into another person named Dark who is a famous art thief that has wings whenever he has feelings of love. Daisuke and Dark are very fast, strong, and stealthy but because of their situation, Daisuke is using anger to fuel his energy and that is not good because he is physically hurting himself; He is forcing himself to grow wings so he can do something to help his friend who was kidnapped. But even though he is a thief, Daisuke is a very nice person who doesn’t like to hurt others and is just a regular high school kid.
I don't really know why, but I loved this one even more than the books in the series thus far. There was just something about the dynamic between the characters that drew me in... Plus the bonus chapters at the end were adorable, too :)
