The graphic novel medium, or comics/comic books, have one of the largest range of any genre books in print. This is not just content, but even a huge range of form and places where they first found print. The Arf Forum anthologies by Craig Yoe offer many different pieces of the medium's history including newspaper strips, cartoons, comics, Literature, etc. You'll either love this "Unholy Marriage of Art & Comics," or it will leave you cold. I was thrilled to read through and be amazed at the material, some of which I knew from trying to be a devoted comics scholar, but some of which was new to me. Yoe selects cleaver, revealing themes, such as here a selection of comics that self-reflect on the medium in which they appear.

This is a decent little book of illustrations of all types. I’m not really sure why it was banished to our Closed Stack section.

Mostly reprints of older comics, of note is a comic by the dadaist Max Ernst. Otherwise nothing really special.
