Protect me at all costs.
That’s the mission my father placed on Anton Markov—my new bodyguard. Shield me from a ruthless, faceless stalker. The menace hijacked my online presence, levied chilling threats my way, and promised to unleash a barrage of damage to me personally and professionally.
There’s one problem with Anton.

It’s simple. I despise him.
He stole everything years ago—my heart, dreams, and dignity. With a four-line farewell note stuck to my kitchen table, he broke my heart and almost my spirit.
But it seems Anton has his own collection of grievances over what happened in New York, and he’s not willing to let them go.

It’s complicated. He hates me.
As my stalker escalates his threats, Anton and I are thrust closer together. His smoldering good looks, irresistible charm, and unwavering dedication to my safety blur the line between lovers and enemies.
He claims that he can't protect me if he falls in love with me. With the danger closing in, we’re about to put that theory to the test.

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Lyric Crowne is the baby and the only girl of the Crowne family. In the previous books they show Lyric always in her in her phone a social butterfly. She known as a Social Influencer so with all the talent running through those Crowne brothers you just believed it skipped the youngest Crowne. What her family didn't know is Lyric left New York heart broken and one film written that failed.

Anton now owning his own security firm is hired by The Crowne’s to fix some security breaches that they found. However what you/they don’t realize is him and Lyric had a committed relationship while in New York that no one knew about because Anton left Lyric with a dear John note breaking it off with her.

So seeing Anton after 3 years all the old hurt feelings start to bubble over and now determined to move on especially not wanting her family to know the truth about her and Anton she keeps quite. That is until a new danger is lurking now Anton has to protect Lyric from danger but all theses feelings are come back up but Anton must keep her safe first.

Standard Deviation

I’m sorry! I couldn’t take the writing but I got through it. The only way I can describe it is to say it’s like a Quentin Tarentino film; to some it’s genius and to others it’s wtf.

Overall: 4/5
Spice level: 3/5
Tropes: bodyguard, second chance, role play

CW: stalking, threats of sexual violence, role play featuring the hero as a cop character & dubcon

This one was... almost a hit for me. Slight hit, slight miss. I liked Anton's character more so than Lyric's. Something about her I couldn't put my finger on that kept me from being invested in her as a character. Obviously, I empathized with her character being stalked and harassed because nobody deserved that. Beyond that, she almost seemed a bit vapid for much of the story. When she found her true purpose in life near the end, I actually started to kind of like her, but then the story was over.

I appreciated Anton's protective, possessive nature toward Lyric considering their history, though he wasn't without fault the way he practically abandoned her and their relationship years prior. He had reasons but took off without giving them.

Figuring out the identity of Lyric's stalker was fairly easy, although not the extent of how it happened. It was a pretty intricate setup. I liked how elaborately Reiss wove the motivation and story behind who it was.

Obviously, with the second chance trope, there's a history and chemistry built into our main characters, but I wasn't a fan of the role-play aspect considering she made the hero play as a cop. That didn't sit well with me.

What I did appreciate and found very important was how Crowne Jewel highlights the reality of how people who are "internet famous" are treated, especially women. The different forms of harassment encountered on a daily basis that law enforcement really doesn't seem to care about.

And of course, the spice was fun when they weren't role-playing.

Apart from the story, I wish the cover would have been of Lyric, not Anton. The series is a group of siblings, Lyric being the only sister. Yet the cover choice was the non-sibling. The hero. It felt out of place to me.

Regardless of the issues I had, the overall story was still enjoyable.

"No Tingles"

What can I say, certain authors could reprint the dictionary and slap their names on the cover and I would buy it. I am not saying this book was not good. Everybody is finally a star of something. I loved the suspense and movement of the story.

Oh Goodreads- why did you mess up my day and keep me from posting my reviews in my app!

Crowne Jewel, CD Reiss's amazing next book in her Crowne Brothers series, can also stand alone, but why wouldn't you want the previous books? This family- I just love these siblings and their irreverent parents... they are wealthy, but down to earth and something else entirely.

Now, it's finally time to get to know Lyric Crowne. She's the youngest child in a privileged family full of older brothers. A smart, independent social media darling and influencer, with millions of followers hanging on her every word. She's a confident woman with a sarcastic side a mile wide who's used to getting what she wants. She thinks she wants to hate the man she used to love, but she is totally wrong, and now I know why.

Her smart as hell, hot AF alpha ex is the person chosen by her family to protect and guard her when she gets hacked, threatened and stalked. Anton Markov is gorgeous and smoldering, even when he's standing still doing nothing at all- a black turtleneck never looked so good. With so much left unsaid between them, the tension simmers and crackles when they're together. I wanted to know every single thing about them.

Crowne Jewel has all the things I love so much in this kind of romance. Close proximity, yum, with a sort of second chance, lovers to enemies and back to something new with leftovers from the past dropping in here and there- hello Mrs. L and Officer E! These two and all the characters- old and new, who brought this story to life, you played your parts so well.

The back and forth between Lyric and Anton was witty, sexy perfection. His dominant side was a hot surprise and those steamy scenes where they clashed, exploded and steamed up so many of these pages were hot as hell and very much enjoyed. I especially loved the slow unraveling of their complicated, eye opening past, Anton's protectiveness and Lyric's sass and feistiness. There's a mysterious suspensefulness throughout- who is stalking her and why- what is their game and Will Anton be able to keep her safe in the end?

“As long as my heart beats, nothing will happen to you. Do you understand? It’s my job to make sure you’re safe, but don’t fool yourself. This is not just a job or business. It’s everything."

Swoon! I'm dead now. This book personifies why CD Reiss is still one of my favorite go to authors, especially for her edgy, delicious and dangerous stories like this one. I can't remember the last time I highlighted so many pages of a book I was reading. Every time I turned around, there was another juicy part of it I wanted to remember and savor again later. She sure worked her dark magic on this one. Crowne Jewel was a pleasure to read and I loved every part of it.

I was given an early copy to read and review. These are my honest and freely given thoughts after reading it.

Every story in the series seems to be better than the last. In the past, I wasn’t sure how much I would love Lyric, but she hides so much behind her flippant responses and phone addiction. Her past was a hidden layer that added so much depth to the youngest of the Crowne kids. And from her past comes Anton, a man who walked away from her years ago, who she needs to keep her safe from a stalker who keeps hitting closer and closer to home. These two were so hot together with a love-hate dynamic born from past hurts. Crowne Jewel is a spicy enemies to lovers, second chance romance that you’ll have a hard time putting down.

Anton is brought back into Lyric’s life when a stalker hijacks her social media accounts and then threatens her. Her father isn’t taking any chances. The only problem is that they have a shared past left in New York that is far from resolved. Anton walked away, leaving a 4 line dear John note and Lyric with a broken heart and spirit. He disappeared with his own problems in their relationship and now neither is willing to give up past hurts. When the stalker escalates and Lyric needs Anton more than ever, their chemistry reignites intense flames. The first rule of a bodyguard is don’t get involved with your client, but those lines quickly burn to ash leaving Anton worried he can’t protect her. And when the stalker gets a little too close…

I’m a huge fan of romantic suspense so I really enjoyed the way it drove the story forward as these two had their second chance to get things right. Lyric and Anton have some amazing dialogue where they subtly reveal truths and pieces of themselves. Their chemistry is off the charts hot with the enemies dynamic they have at the beginning of the story. CD Reiss never disappoints and Crowne Jewel is another steamy, sexy, intriguing book that readers don’t want to miss.

This is a great second chance romance.

Lyric is the only girl in the Crowne family. In the previous books, we got glimpses of her, but she seemed like what I would imagine a young woman to be like (with her family background). It originally looked like she hung around with her friends and was a social influencer. But now we know she is so much more than that! And she has been hiding what had happened between her and Anton in New York.

And Anton (SWOON…) - he saw Lyric and was so into her after all this time. So protective and caring, even though he had been through a lot himself. And the role playing! It was great! It always gave Lyric the ability to be someone else for a while - accept and feel things that she wouldn’t normally have as herself.

They are perfect for each other….. I truly believe that you can read this without having read the other Crowne books, but you would be missing out on some other wonderful stories. And I also enjoy seeing mentions, or small glimpses of characters from Christine’s other books. Read it and enjoy!

I have waited to see how this author would develop Lyric Crowne, and it was worth every second. In her brothers books she comes off as a bit fluffy. She’s a rich little daddy’s girl, who has a ready made intro into being a social media influencer.

I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!

She goes so much deeper. Her persona is her shield. She made some tough choices that had some lasting effects. She was heartbroken. She had trust issues. She hid behind make believe characters that allows her to reveal parts of herself without risk.

Mrs Longbottom meet Offier Everhard, again. I ran the rail of emotion with Anton and Lyric. It was in equal parts happy and sad. They had a history, secrets and big love that had to grow separately before it came back together. This was sheer perfection.

Read this book! Better yet, listen to it also. All these Crownes are out of this world!

Enjoyable Series

So many layers to the Crowne family! I've thoroughly enjoyed the depth of each sibling and their struggles to find deep love even though as a family they come from a place of love and strength. While this first books are about the brothers, sister Lyric has always been skirting the edges. Her push and pull with her long ago ex - Anton, has lots of angst, but comes to a satisfying end. I look forward to more stories in this series by one of my favorite authors.

Why did I forget to put the words in my review Tuesday??? *sigh*

Okay, so two things first. One, I was on the fence about investing time in this story for a long while (but only because I really did not enjoy or even connect with the previous book, and it was such a drastic change from my experience with the other brother’s books). Two, I am stoopified about how much this story sucked me in and I rooted for Anton and Lyric!

THIS.STORY.
THESE.TWO.
MY.GAWD!

There’s seriously not a single aspect of this story that did not captivate me. It didn’t even take me a second to get sucked in. I know the power that CD holds with a pen and that power was wielded like a magic wand throughout this entire story! The character growth, especially Lyric *heart eyes*, was a beautiful thing to read. Their chemistry was pure fire. They complimented each other perfectly and I think their roll play was the perfect kink for them. It allowed for their second chance to have a chance, no pun intended lol, without mixing feelings until their walls crumbled naturally. I’m probably not explaining that correctly, so you’ll just have to read this story to figure out what I’m going on about!

I won’t lie and say I wouldn’t have preferred to have Lyric on the cover because she is the Crowne of the story but I know all about marketing and whatnot so I get it but I’m still #twitchy about it.

I've read all four books in this series, although it's been a while since the first three. I gave this one a try without reviewing the others. I am very disappointed in this one. I read the synopsis on Amazon, and it was more interesting than the book. The main female character was a social media influencer, and the first 30% or more dealt with that, (boring). The rest was about the threatening text, and her x-boyfriend, now her bodyguard. There was sexual role playing, also boring. The main female character was childish, and immature, she improved slightly at the end. Again, the synopsis didn't accurately describe this book. The author has done better, I've read, and enjoyed her books before. Not recommended by me.

This is the next installment in the Crowne Brothers series and while it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone why not read the entire series.
This read was so much fun to read. It had a little bit of everything I was thoroughly entertained.
So this installment gives us baby sister Lyric Crowne story. She is so much more than what she appears. Her connection with Anton was complicated and full of twisted surprises. The push and pull, their banter and their chemistry made for one yummy read.

anticlimactic

Loved all the other Crowne sibling stories and I was waiting for this one to be so intense and sexy. While Anton is close, Lyric is just blah. The two together are good for sex but the feeling of combustion and passion and love just seems missing, despite the ultimate professions of love. A good read but not what I had hoped for.

Crowne Jewel of C.D. Reiss, is the fifth book in the Crowne Brothers Series, and this time it's the turn of the girl in the family, Lyric Crowne is an "influencer", she spends most of her time posting content on social media, but her true vocation is screenwriter and director of films, but in the past she had a failure that hit her hard along with the abandonment of the partner she had at that time, which led her to become a smaller version of what she dreamed of, sharing pieces of her life in the social media, one day on her way to a dinner with friends she runs into a traffic light with what she calls her worst ex, Anton Markov, this was the man who left her behind with no explanation other than a piece of paper with four lines, and suddenly his friend Liang ends up inviting him to dinner and he goes, for her it's stressing to have him so close and see him after three years, he tries to get her attention but she simply does not want to see him, she realize she has not yet over the pain he caused her and she wants to hate him but she also wants explanations, but the least she could imagine is that Anton is doing a job for his family's company, and when a threat to her appears and even though it's not the job of Anton he offers to protect her, this closeness leads them to face their history, and when they find themselves reliving things from their past and although they both swear that it is only temporary, the feelings that they thought they had already left behind resurface even stronger than before, but first they must find the source of Lyric's danger and see if they can overcome their injuries and truly commit to each other.
This story is an intense but fun story, these two characters are perfect for each other, with twists and surprises, with sensitive issues, with second chances and wonderful characters, I loved this story and I highly recommend it!!

Reiss’ latest offering, Crowne Jewel in The Crowne Brothers world, has it all. Romance and heart-stopping moments; a rollercoaster ride that’ll make you want to stay onboard and praise the author for your giddiness! How the bodyguard becomes his coerced client’s begrudging protector–he couldn’t turn the job down even if he’d wanted to, whose feelings cause them to reflect on emotions from the past strongly affecting them in the present. Could they reach a semblance of truce, or would their already delicate relationship implode?

‘The cease-fire is justified. It will protect me from her.’

I’d been looking forward to getting to know Lyric, the youngest Crowne sibling, a while back. Prior, the family had given me the impression that she was flighty. Not surprising since she’s constantly distracted doing her thing; however, there’s so much more to this now insecure woman. Someone, though, thinks she’s worth the attention. Who? Wait and see because, in Reiss’ style, it’s a guessing game! Ooh, and what grabbed my attention was the menacing social media goings-on. Totally in with the times and very well done, I might add.

‘I didn’t want to have to decide between obedience and danger.’

Ukrainian Anton. Possessive of those he cherishes, utterly gorgeous and ready to shield Lyric from harm twenty-four-seven. Their both holding a grudge turns the heat up; snarky banter that Reiss does so well flies off the pages, and words unsaid made me want them to open up. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about their backstories, the reason for Anton’s actions and Lyric’s way of protecting herself. I would have taken to her sooner if it weren’t because I found her a tad cynical. That said, she eventually grew on me. Anton, on the other hand, had me at hello!

“I’m here to be scared for you. It’s my job.”

Whilst I found Reiss’ storytelling a tad different from what I’m used to from her, Lyric’s book is a terrific addition to this standalone series, and as always, her character and plot development is on par. Nonetheless, I’ll leave you to decide the steaminess level. Meeting up with the Crowne crowd once again was a special treat. I’d already fallen for these guy’s parents, who’d done a fine job bringing them up. I had to laugh! Mom’s tingly feelings might seem over the top, but maybe it’ll work for her daughter.

“...I’m just confirming Mom didn’t tell you she tingled and you’re not having the personal equivalent of ‘feeling.’ Right?”

There’s not much more I could say without putting my foot in it, so jump on the helter-skelter and enjoy! Bravo, Reiss!

Danger, mystery, intrigue, and steamy passion fill the pages of this contemporary second chance/enemies-to-lovers/protector/opposites-attract romantic suspense book. The intrigue keeps you on the edge of your seat and the sizzling hot passion leaves you panting.

Lyric is a social media influencer with a huge following. Once upon a time, she was madly in love with Anton Markov. They have a history. Anton broke Lyric's heart four years ago when he suddenly ghosted her and left her with nothing but a note. It devastated her. She's been through the stages of loss and grief where he's concerned. She thought that she was done with him, but much to her shock, she discovers that her father hired him to protect her after she received threats from an anonymous stalker. Now, she's forced to be in close proximity to Anton. She hates him for what he did to her. She locked the door and threw away the key to those feelings, didn't she? But, when she's forced to be this close to him, they fall into old habits, and her walls slowly begin to crumble and she doesn't know if those feelings ever went away. Can she allow herself to go down that road and risk being hurt again?

Anton Markov is trying to start a security business with his brother, Mikhail. When he finds out his former lover, Lyric has a stalker, he knows he's the only one who can protect her. All he has to do is keep her safe and keep denying that he has any feelings for her. It has to be this way, but the longer they're together, the harder it is to keep his hands to himself.

We've met Lyric in previous books but didn't much about her other than that she is a social media influencer. Both characters had secrets and layers, and I loved unraveling each one. This was an exciting read and kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering who was the stalker, and what would happen next. I loved the push-and-pull as well as the combustible chemistry between Anton and Lyric. The role-play was interesting. I also loved Anton's protective and caring side. This book was very entertaining and leaves us with a HEA that leaves the reader satisfied.

Crowne Jewel is Lyric and Anton's story. Lyric is the baby and the only girl of the Crowne family, and Anton has just become the head of digital security for her family's company. Unbeknownst to the Crowne family, Lyric and Anton have a past, one that did not end well. It has been 4 years since Lyric last saw Anton, so she is extremely surprised to run into him, and although she tries all of the feelings of hurt and abandonment rise within her along with all of the old romantic feelings that she has towards Anton. It is that combination of hatred, heat, and sexual tension between Anton and Lyric that pulls the reader into their story, as well as the fact that Anton is a super hot and sexy alpha male who protects what is his.

Now I will say that Lyric and Anton's story took some time for me to jump into. In the beginning I felt like I was in the middle of the story instead of the beginning, and I kept wondering if I had missed something. On top of that Lyric does not come off as a very likeable character, sorry, but she doesn't. She appears vapid and shallow, which is also one of the things that makes the story so good, because she is aware of this fact as are the other characters, esp Anton in the book. She appears not to care about anything but being a social influencer, but she is so so much more, and it is not until a stalker/harasser enters the fray that we get to see this, since it also leads to the development or re-development of her and Anton's relationship. And can we just say THANK GOODNESS FOR ANTON! WHOA! Anton takes bodyguarding to a whole new level and I loved every minute of it. Anton's character, which is wrapped up in mystic, really helped to keep me going in the beginning. Let us just say these two deserved and needed their second chance. They are perfect together.

So, if you are looking for a second chance story filled with suspense, intrigue, role playing, and witty banter...Crowne Jewel is the book for you.

So I was hooked from the moment I started the book.
A bit of everything going on suspense, drama, mystery and lots of spice.
Anton is a seriously man. He has aspirations and dreams he wants to fulfill for not only himself but also for his brother. He feels guilt for many decisions he’s taken in his life. That guilt eats away at him endlessly So he’s always no nonsense. He’s on a path that he wants no diversions from.
Lyric is a social influencer. She lives her life on her social platforms. But that wasn’t her dream. No her dream came crashing down on her and she’s shelved it away.
When her parents find out she’s being stalked and threatened they hire Anton to protect her.
What they don’t realize is that these two have known each other for years.
Lyric and Anton had a great relationship until they didn’t. Their history is of really good times and really sad ones.
Anton willing takes the job of keeping her safe. But he’s fighting a battle to stay professional and not falling back in love with her. He’s fighting for his and his brother’s future with Crowne Industries.
I liked Anton. He’s loyal and caring and very protective. He’s not an overbearing. But yet assertive.
I found Lyric combative. I understand her pain and her anger. And now having to deal with a stalker is putting her on edge. But she fights every single thing being said to her. Even when it’s for her own protection. I know her heart is hurt. And she’s trying to let it out by being difficult.
I liked their story. I was invested in them. And I really wanted them to find peace in their hearts and rekindle the love that’s always been there but just burned less bright.
I’m happy they got their second chance at love.

I love this Crowne Brothers series and how each book was unique and different, just like each member of the family. Lyric and Anton's story is a wonderful combination of suspense, steam and sass. Lyric and Anton have history, that her family doesn't know about. They were together in New York, but Anton left one night leaving only a cryptic note. Now years later, Lyric is an influencer living closer to her family in LA. Anton and his brother appear as cyber security for Lyric's father's company. When Lyric is threatened, her father asks Anton to be her bodyguard, and keep her safe until he finds the person behind the threats. Anton and Lyric thought they were over each other, but the more time they spend together, the more their feelings come to the surface, and they can't stop their fiery attraction. They figure if they role play, and boy is that hot, they can protect their hearts. Anton has his hands full with the independent Lyric, and the more she pushes, the harder Anton wants to keep her close. Will they catch the evasive stalker before he makes his move, so they can take their second chance at love and the life they desperately want with each other? This book delivered so much, and I was completely captivated from the very beginning. It had an intriguing and suspenseful story, compelling characters, and lots of hot, sizzling passion. Anton was so protective, domineering, and deliciously dirty. Lyric is independent, loyal, and caring, and challenged Anton at every turn. Their relationship was complex and sizzling, and their chemistry exploded right off the page. This is a thrilling, passionate and addictive story that kept me turning the pages trying to guess what will happen next!

The Crowne family owns me.
When C.D. Reiss writes about LA and the elite that inhabits the city, I feel like I'm a part of their world. No matter if they are some sort of mogul, a music producer or a social media star, I want more of them.

Lyric Crowne is the latest Crowne Jewel. She is a social media darling that everyone follows, but her family may find kind of flighty since she is always on her phone. Social media wasn't her first calling or first love. Film and a certain bodyguard are what float her boat. But when her first film isn't what she deemed as successful, she loses her bodyguard AND the career she loved in one fell swoop.

Anton was Lyric's bodyguard, her protector and SO MUCH more. He would do anything for her. But when his home calls him back, he must return and give up the woman he loves. When he returns to LA years later, he returns to a woman he is hired to protect but she isn't the same woman he fell in love with. Lyric doesn't want him any more. Or does she?

As I said above, I really have enjoyed the Crowne family and each sibling. Anton and Lyric have a huge second chance at their romance but with their shared past and Anton's job to protect her, they are close to crossing so many lines. I liked their role playing that they used to play with one another without giving up their feelings, but I wish we got more of them just being themselves. Because when they let their walls down, that was when the magic happened.

WIth the story revolving around Lyric and a stalker, this made for some high stress situations and getting to see Anton in all protective, possessive mode. I am always down with an alpha out to protect their mate, even if they aren't quite that. But with their past and the stalker, it did make their time together fueled by danger and passion.

Crowne Jewel is a great addition to The Crowne Brothers series. I loved the sense of urgency with a bit of romantic suspense that surrounded this second chance romance. The push and pull between Anton and Lyric is felt by the past that they shared together. With the other Crowne family members showing up and mama Crowne with her tingle, it's always an entertaining dive into the world of C.D's LA.

Okay, I straight up adored this book. It’s a totally different vibe than the others in the family but remember we’re dealing with Lyric here, not the brothers.

Seeing Lyric on her own, in her head brought her character to much higher levels than I thought we’d get from her. Her self doubt brings humility mixed with being down right relatable as a creative. Imposter syndrome sucks. Period.

Seeing Lyric work through every worry in her mind while dealing with having a stalker AND your ex lover show up all at the same time, was a whirlwind. Yet I never felt lost in her character. As she unravels every thread of her situation her inner strength builds. I was proud of Lyric.

Anton lol ooooh Anton. I equally wanted to throttle him and jump his bones just as much as Lyric. Protective to a FAULT (ask Liagn 🥴😂), possessive in the silent but deadly way that instantly melts you and he’s so caring. Like let me pamper you every chance I get because you’re my woman. He’s a little dense at times but honestly, it adds to his charm. Anton lives for Lyric.

Did I mention the banter? If you like banter than these two will have you rollin’ with laughter over their antics. The. Best. Sarcastic. Banter. Ever. All in all, Lyric and Anton’s story is a must read. You’ll laugh, swoon, and sweat, while your heart strings are being pulled along the way. Reading Crowne Jewel is a breath of fresh air in the rinse and repeat rotations of contemporary romance.

There was something that felt detached about this book. I feel like the ingredients for a more emotional ride were all there, but it was all left to the realm of potentials.

Like, the main external problem to solve should have felt more pressing, more immediately dangerous, and as someone who's been in a somewhat similar situation as Lyric, I was expecting to feel it a bit more closely and was honestly kinda worried about my possible emotional response to it, but it never really felt up to the scale such a topic would have required. Despite the threats and the invasion of privacy, Lyric never really felt in danger to me, idk.

The culprit was so easy to figure out, man. Two convos in regarding this person and I knew it was them, so imagine my disappointment when it took so long for the characters to figure it out...

Both Lyric and Anton were interesting characters, who felt well developed in their own right, but there was something missing in the progression of their relationship; I feel like Lyric did not really do much inner searching and so, I don't think there was much growth there, and there were so many conversations they should have had but they're both terrible communicators and so it doesn't seem like they've truly worked past issues out and cleared the air. As a result, the ending was unsatisfying.

Three stars because this author could write the numbers and I'd still find her prose the bee's knees.

4.5 Stars

Anton and Lyric are one of those couples that you think really shouldn't work (and really they think the same) but they really do. They deal with this by a little bit of pretend that I think both of them know is a shield, so they can say they are keeping their distance from one another, but at the same time they (and the reader) know that there is really no distance between them.

The secondary characters are interesting and add to the story, without making you feel you need to have read all of the previous titles to understand who they are or what is happening, although I suggest doing so as all of the Crowne titles are a lot of fun.

I loved a lot about this title and the way it was constructed. I loved the agency the characters were given, even though I think some of that was an intentional risk on the part of the author (although we have come to expect that from this author, so it wasn't a shock) and how real each of them felt.

I also appreciated that it was clear the author actually knows Los Angeles and didn't set it in LA by learning about the city in a short visit and some time on Google. I get it, you can't always set every book in your home town, but I sometimes struggle reading titles set in LA...not this one.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

This is the story of Anton and Lyric. We've met Lyric in the previous books, always detached and always with her head in her phone, never knowing what to expect from her. You could sense something was happening or, better yet, something was missing there. And now we have the entire picture.
Reading this story was like being inside the mind of a writer/director. The way CD described Lyrics' fears, her hopes, her past, it is so gripping, so consuming you need to keep on reading so you find out more, to discover more.
And Anton... Let's talk about alpha male domineering possessive consuming protective hero. Good God! He would burn the world for her. He loved her enough to let her go once, so it is a matter of how much he loves her in the present? Enough to abandon the plans he made? Enough to become a better poet? Enough to do the protect her at all costs?
I loved this story so so much 💕 it was so consuming that I couldn't stop reading it. This series overall is really really good, but I have the feeling it just got better with every book, with every story. I bow down in the face of the talent of CD, because she creates a series full of masterpieces. These are the kind of stories you can read and reread and only love more each time 💕

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

This is the story of Lyric and Anton. Anton has been tasked with protecting Lyric at all costs by her father. She has a stalker that is as ruthless as he is faceless. He has threatened to ruin her both professionally and personally and hijacked her online presence. However things get a whole lot more interesting because she hates him. Once upon a time he stole everything from her. Her heart, her dignity and her dreams. And she still holds a grudge to this day. But he too is holding on to things that have happened in New York in the past. However with a psycho after her, they become closer and the lines between them soon begin to blur. He says he can't protect her if he falls for her again, but they are so about to put that theory to the test.
This book is filled with steam and suspense and a whole boat load of sass. I will say that I was not the biggest fan of Lyric at first. That girl has a mouth on her and heaven forbid if she put her phone down for five minutes and lived in the moment. I loved how protective and dominant Anton is. However Lyric does have this caring side to her and is super independent and together they are just pure fire together. I loved every second of this book and you will too.

I was so excited to get Lyric’s book. I loved the way she bossed her brothers. As an only girl with three of the stinkers, I know it’s all about how you can wrap them around your little finger, whilst making sure they get the blame by the rents for anything bad that you do.

Lyric is my spirit animal. I wish she had been on the cover. But anyway, Anton Markov is hot in his turtleneck, perhaps that’s why he smells of bread. Most importantly of all would Doreen Crowne get a knowing tingle?

Lyric has been living the life of a social media influencer, until she’s hacked and can’t access her accounts. Anton thinks she not the creative thinker she once was. She’s switched it off in the face of her disappointment, he wants the old Lyric back. She hasn’t forgiven him for disappearing out of her life suddenly three years previously and the last thing she wants is for him to be her personal bodyguard.

Officer Everhard (aka Anton) and the very naughty Brenda Longbottom (aka Lyric) are absolute stars. Who knew role play could be such fun!

Crowne Jewel is a sexy read with a mystery villain to find, and a hot Ukrainian hero to fall in love with.

Them: What’s that book you’re reading?

Me: Crowne Jewel by CD Reiss

Them: Is it good?

Me: I’m reading it so…

Them: So what’s it about?

Me: It’s about Lyric Crowne the only sister to the Crowne Brothers. You could say she’s the Jewel in the Crowne (if you know you know) and the guy, Anton, who shattered her heart into a thousand pieces a few years back. She’s an influencer and after she gets hacked he ends up being her bodyguard and she’s not happy and then she is and it’s all kinds of sexy, with great banter and a touch of suspense thrown which keeps us guessing. You might not like Lyric to start with but you will fall for her and Anton well he’s just how we like our bodyguards all dark and delicious.

Them: So it’s good?

Me: Yes. It’s CD Reiss so why would you ask. You know she writes like a dream. Her words are crazy good.

Them: So I should read it?

Me: Yes! It’s a romance with great characters and a fabulous storyline.

Them: Does it have an alternative cover?

Me: What are you twelve???

Them: Okay okay just asking.

Me: For the love of books just read it.
