This is my love hate series. A very straight and christian view of a little town, based loosely on the author's own home town. It's super wholesome and rather convoluted, but I still keep going back. Told in chapters about different townspeople, we get to see the going's on with the Cedar Cove residents. A couple kiss for the first time and it's a 'I'm yours, you're mine scenario', and a clinic is getting built by volunteers and they are on the job and cleaning up with their dustpan and broom on the same day as approval. It's sweet and I keep reading. Mind you though, I can't find A Cedar Cove Christmas which I really did want to read now as it's Christmas time, and to continue the series so I can get the physical copies back to my Book Whisperer - I may just have to go and buy it online. This author is doing something right, she has a strong following.

I am most definitely reading this entire series out of order. Mostly because of a challenge but I think it will all work out in the end? If not, I can only blame myself - right?

8 Sandpiper Way is the eighth installment of this series. Just like the other two books I've read, this one flew by pretty quickly. I feel like each book has so many people to keep track of and I think that's why I don't really connect with anyone or have a favorite character (so far). They are still pretty easy to devour though but that's about it.

There was lots of drama and I feel like Emily probably should have talked to her husband before automatically assuming the worst. It's clear and obvious that they love one another but to go from having an affair to stealing things was kind of absurd. I still ate it all up but I'll admit that I wanted to slap her sometimes.

In the end, I feel like I should go back and read the books that I've skipped over just to see if everything will make sense to me whenever I dive into book 9.

Okay, one star is harsh; maybe it's more of a 1.5. This was another LJK Book Club read (i.e. I had no choice). I don't really see the appeal; the author uses formulaic situations and stereotypical characters, rather than real character development, to elicit sympathy from the reader. Evidently this is one in a series, so perhaps many readers are already familiar with the characters, but there didn't seem to be any real depth. It doesn't help that there are simply too many characters, which makes it difficult to develop real feeling for any of them. Furthermore, the beginning and end seemed random and abrupt, not part of a narrative arc. Finally, the cover doesn't match the book at all; it looks like spring or summer, when the book itself takes place in November. Overall, a boring and intellectually empty attempt at rendering small-town life. Eh.

I knew this book was in the middle of a series when I downloaded it from the library. But with many series you can pick it up and figure out who the main characters are. I did that with the Mitford Series and with Stephanie Plum.

This series fails in that respect. The cast of characters is overwhelming. Every chapter features a new set of people with their own unique love issues. Some don't ever appear again in the book so don't worry about trying to keep their relationships straight.

Like the girl who moved away to Montana (or was it Wyoming?) and couldn't come home for Christmas? Who apparently used to date somebody's son who married someone else who is also moving away. But never fear. Some guy that she knows in Montana (or Wyoming) is willing to declare his love just so he can drive her home for Christmas. After all, in this world, you can't date without getting married shortly afterward.

And then there's the hairdresser who somehow is connected to the lady who married the chess player. As a side note, did you know that playing chess was so lucrative that you need a limo driver? Anyway, that hairdresser used to date someone else apparently but then at the last second - probably as the conclusion of book #7? - she realized she was in love instead with her friend. Now they are pushing up their wedding 2 months because they can't bear to live apart.

The two couples I *thought* the book would focus on were the pastor and his wife who suspects him of cheating and the sheriff who reconnected with his high school
sweetheart. They lead off the book but then disappear until the end.

The ending made no sense either. The high school kid and the wanna be artist go to a cave and find a dead body. But no one really seems to care. I guess you have to tune in to book #9 or #10 or #11 to find out what happened there. Did some one leave town unexpectedly in book #4, #5 or #6?

This rambling, wandering style was not one I enjoyed. It's like the author goes walking through town telling a story and when she sees someone across the street she gets distracted and starts telling you about them instead. It lacked focus. It lacked compelling reasons to *like* these characters.

Won't be starting with book one of this series.

There aren't that many secrets to keep in a close-knit community like Cedar Cove, Washington. So, when Emily Flemming finds an earring in her husband's pocket, she is understandably upset. The lost earring is definitely not hers, and Emily is worried that her husband Dave might be having an affair. She doesn't want to believe that Dave could or would cheat on her, but he's been acting so strangely lately that she just can't be certain.

Dave Flemming is a pastor - a loving husband and a wonderful father to their two boys; he truly is a good, upstanding, moral man - and Emily is deeply ashamed of her thoughts. However, she just can't stop herself from thinking this way. There's just something different about her husband, and she can't put her finger on what it is exactly. She has just learned that some jewelry was recently stolen from an elderly woman's house - and Dave used to visit the lady quite a bit.

Emily can't believe that Dave is guilty of doing anything illegal - that's just not in his nature. However, since he doesn't tell her where he's been when he comes home so late - she can't help but wonder just what is happening with him. Something is definitely going on with Dave; something certainly seems wrong with him, and Emily is determined to find out just what it is.

First of all, let me say that I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick and easy read for me, and a fairly pleasant way to spend a couple of days. I certainly appreciated having the list of characters at the beginning of the book; it was really helpful to know who was who as I was reading.

I must say that the story's plot actually wasn't all that difficult to follow. The storyline itself was pretty simple, and nothing really mind-blowing or overly dramatic happened; at least in my opinion. Although, I would still give this book an A!

Pastor Dave Flemming and wife, Emily, reside at 8 Sandpiper Way. Dave recently found an elderly woman parishoner of his dead when coming to visit her. She had previously given him a watch that was her husbands. She wanted him to have it. Then his wife found some diamond earrings in his coat pocket. The first thing she assumed was that he was having an affair. Emily approached him with her worries and he declared that he was not having an affair, but had taken a parttime job as a watchman due to the fact that they were having financial difficulties. Emily then was grateful she approached him. She got herself a parttime job also. Now it seems the parishoner's family is stating that some of their mother's jewelry is missing. Pastor Dave has gone to the police to tell him his story and the police chief has his own ideas as to has stolen the jewels. Read to find out who did steal them.

More is going on with the other residents of Cedar Cove. You will just have to stick your nose in the book to find out.

Rating as a movie: PG-13 for adult content

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️🪶

My thoughts: 💿 12% Disc 2 Track 10 Ch. 5 - A glitch took my original note. The CDs have some scratches and were giving me trouble. I read a paragraph from chapter one from a book preview on Goodreads but was considering switching to the car or ebook. The car worked.
💿 30% Disc 3 Track 69 Ch. 12 - Half of these stories are good and half continue the juvenile dialogue of the previous book. I don't know what is up with Pastor Dave
💿 41% Disc 4 Track 65 Ch. 16 - This is so much better than the previous book. I was pretty frustrated with Justine, 15 was a very suspenseful and dramatic chapter.
💿 51% Disc 5 Track 63 Ch. 20 - I thought a cast member was notified of 2 heartbeats in the last book and now they are wondering if they could have twins, I thought that had already been confirmed with an ultrasound. SMH. Half of the storylines are interesting and the other half I'm not into, but all feel dated, and not 2007 dated, like early 90s dated.
💿 58% Disc 6 Track 21 somewhere in Ch. 22 - This is officially my kind of book, but I can't say why just it involves bundles.
💿 61% Disc 6 Track 52 somewhere in Ch. 23 - I cringe when it switches to certain characters because their dialogue is blah.
💿 68% Disc 7 Track 18 Ch. 26 - I just lost all respect for the pastor in one chapter. I can't wait for this book to be over cheese and ridiculousness everywhere.
💿 76% Disc 7 Track 83 somewhere in Ch. 28 - The good news is I'm almost there. 🥱
💿 87% Disc 8 Track 89 Ch. 34 - 🙄 This story is all over the place in a bad way. I'm gonna finish the series but if it continues down this road it might get pushed out a year.

Finally! This story is written in a dated way with exaggerated language and descriptions, but I'm going to stand by it.

Recommend to others: This is just the lull you have to get through to get to the good stuff.

8th book of a series. What can I say. It's like reading a popular soap opera and you take a little break and decide to return. She continues to add new characters to this idyllic little town. Their lives have all the usual ups and downs that life throws our ways. She throws in a mystery before each book concludes making you question what happened and who caused the mystery. What can
I say other than it's easy enjoyable reading. Noticed this particular book had a list of characters to refer back too. I definitely think this series works best if you start from the beginning.

Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Series are one of my most favorite books. First of all, you MUST read them in order. That is crucial. It allows you to "get into" each and every one of her characters.

I am literally, swept away to Cedar Cove every time I read one of her books.

Her characters are rich and full of personality. The path she sets for her characters are really good.

I LOVE these books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book did not disappoint!!! I thought there would come a time when I would eventually tire of these books, but after reading eight of them, I am finding myself as anxious for September's release of book number nine as I was for book number two. Go Macomber!! Another fantastic book in the Cedar Cove Series.

I am fully invested in this series! I enjoy the variety. Yes, there are always some of the same characters, but there are also new characters and multigenerational characters, too. There are twists and turns and the crossing of paths, basic family life, a bit of mystery, a bit of romance, some joy, some sorrow, and always people whispering (I have found this so funny since book 1…I don’t get all the whispering! 🤪).

This was a long read for me. I find books with too many characters a little frustrating, but once you get to know a couple you want to keep reading to find out what happens. This is number 8 of 14 I think, it would be hard to collect them all, especially if you’re not buying them online. I don’t think they could be read as standalone books as they feature the same characters. Not memorable enough for me to go back to.

This is next book on the Cedar Cove series. I LOVE this series so much! I enjoyed going back to Cedar Cove to visit the town and all of its neighbors, both old and new. There was a mystery in this story which did resolve itself in the end, but of course, other mysteries were introduced as well as the traditional cliffhanger taking you into the next book, 92?Pacific Boulevard. I can’t wait to read the next book 😁📖📚

Another great read to the cedar cove series. Surprisingly, this is the first series I have read where I enjoy every book. I think it is because of all the character perspectives and their stories. Debbie Macomber also just writes so well that you really engage and connect with her characters like you are right there with them.

I disliked this book the most so far in the series. I seriously HATE Pastor Dave & Emily Fleming's storyline. In fact, after he finally revealed his "secret" to his wife, I was so disappointed with the book I didn't read it again for a week. Not until I was stuck at a doctor's office and had it in my purse. There is no way this pastor would have kept the secrets he did from his wife, and they still didn't add up. By that time, I so didn't give a damn about them, I was willing, literally to dump the book in the middle and give up on the rest of the series. That's how much I hated it. Now, that said, I love Teri and Bobby's surprise. Rachel's problem with Jolene doesn't make sense. James's history and revelation was a surprise, and not a good one. Curious to see how that one goes but don't like where the author is taking us. Curious about the new backstory of a dead body (probably male teenager) found in a cave. (So long dead he's a skeleton.)

The pastor's storyline did ruin this book for me. The author is losing her touch with this series. She's continuing it beyond where it needs to go, probably because her editor wants to milk it for all it's worth. (Even I'll admit I bought the entire series before reading it. Stupid me.) The other thing that ruined this book for me, is that GOODREAD'S has the A Cedar Cove Christmas book mislabeled as #7.5 in the series when it should correctly be changed to #8.5. Knowing EVERTHING that happens next, spoiled this book because very little took you by surprise when you knew before hand where everything was going, what came next, etc.

This is the 8th book in The Cedar Cove Series. In order to get into the lives of the characters, the books should be read in order. Each book builds on the previous books. The reader learns more about the characters' lives. This book focused on the lives of Pastor Flemmming and his wife, Emily. We learn of their financial issues and how their marriage was almost destroyed. We also learn more about Olivia Griffin, family court judge, and her health issues which are very sad. We learn more about Sheriff Troy Davis and his issues which will be developed more in the next book of the series. Bobby Polgar and his wife Teri play a bigger role in this book than previously. Some of the characters that were introduced in the prior books are also part of this book. It was interesting to see how their lives are progressing. This book introduced two new characters, Shaw and Tanni. I am interested to see how their relationship develops.

This book definitely kept my interest up and I was able to read it quickly even though it had 370 pages . I like how the author left cliffhangers about five of the couples. It makes the reader want to go right onto the next book in the series which I will be doing.

I love this cedar cove series (8th book---thus the book title).

The characters in the series are so easy to read about, even after waiting a while to read the next book (it is hard to get your hands on these at the library).

This book focuses on Pastor Fleming & his wife Emily. They are having serious financial problems, and it looks like Pastor Fleming stole jewelery from an old woman's house that he was visiting. Would he really do this, or was someone else behind the robberies.

We also revisit Olivia Lockhart (judge); she has cancer and has problems with a surgery that she undergoes. How will her family deal with her health problems.

We are also introduced to 2 new characters Trissa & Shane; both are teens and find that they are in love.

I will continue reading this series until she stops writing the books.

I have to learn not to believe that bestsellers are necessarily good books. This is kind of like the Mitford books only like a serial. At least those things come out once a week or so, for this you wait about a year and practically nothing is resolved. There are cliffhangers all over the place at the end. There are different chapters for different characters, which I generally like, but she has so many characters that they each get only about 3 each. It's definitely not enough to develop them. There were a couple that engaged me, but not many so I skimmed the whole book in a night because I got bored. That's never a good sign. They're not even quirky like the Mitford people. Again, why is it a best seller?

You know the almost sickly sweet scented products (lotions, body sprays, etc.) that Bath & Body Works makes, like "winter candy apple" shower gel and "warm vanilla sugar" body butter? These books are the literary equivalent of those scents--predictable, artificial, too strong--and yet I walk out of that store with 6 different bottles of the stuff because, hey, I need some lotion and they had a special deal (they ALWAYS have a special deal). Here I am finishing book #8 and I anticipate reading all of them. I can download them from my library for free and they are just engrossing enough to take my mind off other things for a little while. Can't hurt, and hey, I gotta read something. (really, I always have to be reading something!)

As soon as I started reading this I thought, "I need a break from Debbie Macomber for a while". Too many characters. Too many different stories going on. Not to mention that as you keep reading you realize that these "address" books are all sequels to each other. There are book before it and books after it that I should have read. Only 1 out of the 8 stories she has going in this book actually concluded. The rest continue on in her next "address" book. Which I will not be reading. I like Debbie pretty good, but these books were not her best idea or her best writing.

Another good Debbie Macomber book. I am not reading her books in order-sometimes leaving me in the dark about things that have happened before. I couldn't read for a number of years--needing a cornea transplant. Now I am still catching up. I'm wondering if I should let the older books go and just stick with the newer ones, but hate to think about all the good books I'd miss.Guess I'll just keep chugging along and get them all read. (or as many as I can). Debbie Macomber books never leave me wanting.

Leave it to Debbie Macomber to make you wonder if a pastor is all he is supposed to be, or if he is really up to something he’d rather his wife and his congregation did not know about. She does a great job of making an innocent man seem guilty, or is that a guilty man seem innocent? There is more going on in Cedar Cove than you’d think, and that includes a surprising discovery in a cave. Macomber’s novels are quite entertaining, if only the sappy romance didn’t get in the way of the tale!
