I thought this was a fun, word-play riddle book for early readers. Even if children can't yet read, by reading the first line of the riddle, the child can try to guess the end of the riddle. Many of the riddles have the children focus on parts of words. For example the riddle "why did the witch let children hold her broomstick? Because the witch had a very bad itch." The word "witch" was bold on the previous page, and then "itch" was underlined within the word "witch" on the second page. You can use these riddles to help children think about rhyming words, or words with the same ending sounds. Some of the riddles focus on middle sounds, or beginning sounds. I thought this was a good book to focus on teaching parts of words, and rhyming. I also thought it would be fun for early readers to try and guess the end of the riddle by focusing on sounds.
