Eighteen-year-old Jesse is preparing for a summer spent avoiding his alcoholic mother, hanging out with his best friend Grey, and picking up extra shifts at the local supermarket. But when Grey wakes up with a suspicious bite mark, and his personality begins to change, Jesse is left wondering if something else is going on, something darker and more violent than he ever would’ve thought possible…
Set over a single summer, The Draining is a disturbing and delicious tale of loneliness, adolescence, and the deep-rooted fear that even the best of friends can grow apart, cementing Max Deacon as one of the most exciting voices in queer fiction.
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness the way this book ended?!? I need more I need to know if the story continues. Max you have left me on a cliff hanger, what happens? Does Jesse become a vampire? Does his relationship change with Jesse and Grey? Come on Max you left me hanging…
Well now you have an idea of how I feel about this book. Well one I loved it, I’m a sucker for books bout vampires. With that being said you will probably not like Jesse at first, I didn’t he was such a twat to his friend Grey, really didn’t treat him right until it was to late I guess you could say. But you could also see why Jesse is that way his dad left his mother and family, his mother isn’t the same after. She’s kinda become neglectful and a bit of a drunk, but that doesn’t make up for Jesse being so hard and honestly a dick to Grey. Grey is queer and very much themselves or at least we think they are this out going and very proud of themselves kinda guy.
One day Grey starts talking and well dating this guy, and things get serious and well kinda wired in the eyes of Jesse. Jesse starts feeling like grey has changed and well he has changed…Wes changed into a vampire?
Well you need to read this book, set a day or two were you just focus on this great read.
