While not "classic" material, this was an admirable effort at retelling stories of the Cox Mountain, Vermont community around the time of the American Revolution. It had value to me as a descendant of one of these families, and was enjoyable to me as its style was reminiscent of the Little House on the Prairie, in how it described how these even earlier pioneers set up their homesteads in the mountains of Vermont.
