A good friend brought me this book a few months after my daughter passed away, almost five years ago. I have since bought used copies at about six at a time and most always have one on hand when anyone I know, or meet, has to go through a tragic loss. It has blessed me with new possibilities and I have great respect for George Anderson. I have now read many of his books.

This was the perfect time to be listening to this audiobook as it gave me great comfort during my father passing this week.

The books I’ve previously read were first-hand accounts of experiences on the other side. This book, as the subtitle aptly states, is about conversations from the other side and was the first about a psychic medium. George however, is not any medium, he is the world’s most scientifically test medium. His website states, “In his career, George has done more than 35,000 sessions for the bereaved, and is the most scientifically tested medium of this century. He has earned the respect and acclaim of those who work in scientific, medical and religious fields not only due to his ability, but his dedication to those who suffer the loss of a loved one. Researchers in the field of science, afterlife studies and spirituality have called George “Astonishing,” “The Gold Standard by which all mediums are measured,” and “A Stradivarius among mediums.”

Based upon the testing and testimonials I heard in the book, I am convinced, my father has transitioned to a much better place. I know too, that he is always with me and there will be a time when we again, will be happily reunited.

Lots of accounts of spirits coming through and leaving juicy little profound nuggets of what life is like on the other side of the glass - the good work continues, without temptation - i cried a few tears every day with the revelations - and have a new understanding

First read this years ago. A classic in after death communication. Long before John Edward and James Van Praagh were known there was George Anderson. This book features his life and gifts in communicating with those in spirit. Highly recommend.

I've read dozens of books written by mediums, psychics and spiritual teachers of their experiences channeling dozens of entities. My book collection goes far back to stuff written pre Edgar Cayce.

I bought this one in a metaphysical bookstore, in good 'faith' (no pun intended) assuming it would tell basically the same things as all the others ... (with perhaps a slightly different take on the subject.

When I got to about page 50 something and he started telling people that 'his spirits' told him that evil people (like murderers) were sent to 'purgatory' .... and started chanting Catholic rhetoric, the book went directly into the garbage can before I got to the end of the page.

Seth is rolling in his grave (LOL).... perhaps laughing.

This book is a recompilation of "connections to the other side" of a desperate wannabe medium who relies on desperate dwelling souls who've lost loved ones. Save yourselves the trouble (and money) and don't buy any of his commercially driven bullshit. People like these mock the confidence on the possibility of a real connection and the process of any real deal medium. This one is just not the guy you are looking for.
Shame on you George Anderson and those who manage your "work".

Here is a real painful testimony for further information of what a scam this is:

VERY interesting book about communicating with the dead. Could be that I'm very gullible, but I want to believe George Anderson and his "gift". From what's reported in here, Anderson is accurate with his confirmations about the dead people he's communicating with. He verifies information about the dead without knowing anything about the person he's "talking" with. Makes me want to contact him to see if he can talk with any of my dead loved ones.

This book is absolutely fascinating. I had heard of George Anderson and his ability to communicate with the dead several years ago when I was interviewing a woman who had lost her son to suicide. She had visited Anderson and had a personal experience with him that brought her great comfort in her grief. I finally got around to researching him myself by reading this book. Anderson is probably the most convincing medium I have ever researched.

“At the 1986 reading George delivered to Barbara the following message from David: “I got a new job. I’m counseling young people who cross over.” He explained that he made the decision to do this and that all of the family’s and friends’ prayers had helped him to grow on the other side. Toward the end, he joked, “I earned my wings.” pg. 173.
This made me laugh out loud, I loved this part. Very nice book, changed a lot of the ways I viewed the afterlife.

I think this is the first book I ever read about the life of a psychic and what we know about the afterlife. Having lost my dad 14 years earlier, it definitely gave me hope that my dad was actually "alive" and was aware of things happening in this plane, like my two oldest children being born.

While definitely an interesting read, I found myself skipping through some of the latter "reads". However, I found the Q&A in the last chapter interesting. Bottom line, whether you agree or not, there is life in the hereafter!

I am fascinated by books like this. The older I get, I guess it is only normal to be more curious about where I am ultimately headed. As a Christian, my faith comforts me that what we see is not all that there is.

Books like this reinforce that, and I appreciate that and seek it out from time to time.

Unlike some of the books I have read on subjects like this, George Anderson is a psychic medium who is very much alive. He channels people who have crossed to the other side. I believe that George continues to do this, even though THIS book was written more than 30 years ago.

The book is mostly a biography on George and his ability and how he came to be known and the various tests and challenges to his gift that he underwent. Numerous readings are discussed, as is George's strong Catholic faith. As a non-Catholic, that was a little off-putting for me. Talk about the saints and rosaries and Blessed Mother, etc., repeated numerous times, was something I just could not relate to.

Even MORE off-putting, were the frequent comments and questions of the author TO George, which became very repetitive and to a degree, aggravating. If I had been George, my inclination would have been to tell Joel to jump in the lake. I almost rated the book lower, for that reason. But the subject matter and George's sincerity and humility offset the author's inanity, to a similar degree.

There was some fairly extensive discussion at the end about what the other side is like, although there were a lot fewer details than I would certainly like. One somewhat humorous anecdote toward the end: George was asked if he was ever told why HE was the person chosen to have this gift. He was told that "it had to be a man, because if it was a woman, NO ONE would have believed you." This is ironic to me for two reasons. 1) George lived/lives on Long Island. 2) The most well-known psychic medium at the time of this review is Theresa Caputo; a/k/a The Long Island Medium.

This was fairly interesting. It was not just transcripts of the spiritual readings that George Anderson gave but also was a biography of George Anderson and how and when in his life he became able to communicate with souls on the other side. I read this book in bursts whenever I was in between other books. The transcripts of readings were a little hard to follow because it was simply the conversation between George and the person he was doing the reading for so George would ask a question and you'd read an answer but a line or two later George might ask the same question again but this time you would read a different answer. I liked reading that George was raised in the Catholic faith and still was a believer as an adult. I was comforted when I read that the souls on the other side are strengthened when their living loved ones say the Rosary for the peace and salvation of their souls. George said more than once in this book that the Rosary is a very powerful spiritual tool.

The authors describe their initial meetings and subsequent involvement with George Anderson on their radio and television call-in shows. George was gifted with the ability to communicate with people who have passed on. Punished as a child for his abilities, it wasn’t until his adult years that he was encouraged to explore the limits of his unusual gift. Tested numerous times through readings and scientific tests, he has amazed skeptics and believers alike with the accuracy of his information, which he could not have known other than from the spirits themselves. George’s message of comfort to us is that we do not die, we just transition to another form of consciousness or being.

After reading this book, I’m still a skeptic. I do agree with and like his belief in spiritual growth after physical death, a “purgatory” perhaps. Perhaps this life we’re in on earth is already a purgatory. I noticed that there was very little discussion of “weegee” boards, except in a historical context. Does he believe in them and know that they are evil? Also, there was no discussion of the several appearances of Mary, the Mother of God (Lourdes. Fatima, etc.) which I would have thought appropriate to this subject. What I do know is that I’ll find out soon enough what comes after earthly life, and that’s soon enough for me.

This is the best book on the after life that I have ever read. After reading this book, I am no longer afraid of dying, I realize that this is just the beginning, that we live on forever. George Anderson has an exceptional gift. Anyone who has ever lost a loved one should read this book...it gives definite hope that our loved ones are still with us. If you ever had a fear of death, if you've ever wondered about a loved one who passed away, please read this book. George Anderson will give comfort to even the most cynical among us.

I've always been skeptical of these type of books. So glad i took the short time to read this one. George Anderson truly gives one pause as to what comes after this life. These interviews that they shared in the book were nothing short of astounding. No way could the details that he gave possibly have been staged. Amazing. The book was captivating and truly easy and quick to read. I really am curious now about the TV shows he was in and want to try to find him on YouTube! Highly recommend for anyone that is curious about this topic.

This is my third book about psychic mediums to help me understand how they communicate with our loved ones who are no longer in their physical bodies but are very much still with us. George's journey was very intersting and his readings very comforting. I found the Q&A in the last chapter very interesting to understand how he communicates and what he thinks of his gift. Bottom line, whether you agree or not, there is life in the hereafter!

I enjoy the topic, but became weary of the overall "we need to investigate this ability" theme. It also felt like the author had exploited the medium's ability for his own gain by all the free "tests" for the author and his friends and family, his forcing of the medium to go on his radio show... and certainly making a profit writing a book about the medium.

Smoothing

Smoothing

I choose this rating because it sooth me at the time of my husband's illness
I didn't care for all the details as much as the stories themself got a little humdrum saying the same thing over and over or I would of gave it a 5 star.

I remember watching John Edward on late night TV years ago, and heard about George Anderson through another TV show, A Haunting. I'm fascinated about what we call the "afterlife" and where we all go when the physical body wears out. All the cases described were intriguing. But what caught my attention most was the last chapter where George answers question put to him by Joel Martin. So much of what he said agrees with what I, myself, believe. "God" is within each of us and free will is a matter of making choices that are set before us which determine our own "destiny."

Amazing eye opening and hopeful-just what is needed to balance the negativity all around us.

Amazing eye opening and hopeful-just what is needed to balance the negativity all around us. Pleasant reading and mandatory once one is ready to look beyond formal religious teaching toward more universal principles. We r spirits first who are then born into physicality then to return to out original state. This system eases so much anxiety surrounding death.
