This was a blast from the past collecting the full 15 issues that were put out by DC in 97-98. Full blown humor taking on superheros or superpowers at least. Anyone that loves the Goon or Skullkickers or just like their comics to be funny should read this.

In 1997 I was 12 years old. The first single issue of Major Bummer was on the rack at my local cards and comic shop. I spent a lot of time in this comic shop, it was where I built my modest childhood comic collection.
At this point I'd read, Superman, Flash and Green Lantern comics among other things...
The art was what really caught me. All these years later Doug is still an artist that makes me blindly buy books, he's simply the best!
Hulking muscle, slacker attitude, to tiny to fit clothing, I mean 12 year old me wanted to be this guy, heck I still do, I've even been weight training for 3 years almost now, in part because I wanna look like Lou Martin.
So the first issue was great, set things up real fast and then for some reason I never collected another Major Bummer book. Not sure why...
Fast forward to 2016-17 and I've rediscovered the box with my old books... and there is Major Bummer... where was this story going.
Well thank God they collected all 15 issues that got published before this series was cancelled.
Totally lived up to my expectations. The humor, art, and story are so fun and funny, not a traditional super hero story. I mean Lou isnt a super hero after all.

I really thought I wasnt going to like this one, but I must admit I thought it was very funny.
The characters are all quite silly, but at the same time very down to earth in a way, I really like.
Some of the best stuff in the short run of this comic was about "supervillains" going to a diner or people not being able to use their powers properly. I have seen a couple of other super-hero parodies before, but this one stands out as quite different in my opinon. Others are usually very bloody or over-the-top, but this one is more relaxed and spends time slowly developing the characters in funny ways.
On the downside, not all of the designs spoke to me. Especially the main character has kind of a boring design. I loved the gecko, the cat and the aliens on the other hand.
Its a shame it got cancelled so early, because I think it really could have evolved into something great.

Not Good, But Fun
I read this comic when it was still individual issues. I wasn't exactly a discerning reader at the time, so when I saw that a collected edition was finally available, it was purchased with a combination of nostalgia and dread.
Having finished reading it, I think that nostalgia + wincing was the appropriate response. I'm glad it's available, but I spent a good chunk of the re-read cringing at how ... not good it was.

My question is, what do people see in this? Sure there are fun parts but like nearly every short comic run of the 90s, there's a reason it's short, it's boring. I don't see much here that's special and while there is a semblance of overarching storylines, nothing comes of it. Maybe if it was given 20 more issues they could've made something happen but 20 is far too many.

Süper kahraman çizgi romanları ile nefis dalga geçen ve çok güzel çizimleri olan bir çizgi roman ama maalesef konusu da bir o kadar dağınık. Oradan oraya atlayan olay örgüsü ve sonlara doğru her şeyin iyice iç içe geçmesi üstüne de meh bir final maalesef ağzımda iyi tat bırakmadı.

I read these when the first came out over twenty years ago and was so angry when it got cancelled. Loved reading these again after all these years.

Una que entretiene y divierte mucho, no la pase mal, pero la falta de un plot mayor y que no sea capitulo a capitulo no me termino de convencer, de todas maneras en una obra muy destacable en el genero humor superheroico. Acurdi leí muy poco de el, seguramente ahora leeré un poco mas y de Mahnke que puede decir es un genio

A very different and often funny look at superheroes. I'm not the biggest fan of Doug Mahnke's art and this may go on a few issues too long, but it's a nice change of pace.
