Corkscrews and Camembert

Rate this book
Cheese and wine are a match made in Heaven. Too bad murder is also on the menu.

Brianna West adores her busy cheese-themed café that serves Roquefort Danishes and camembert crackers on quaint Driftwood Island. To celebrate her new small but vibrant community of Snuggler's Cove, Brianna is planning a wine and cheese event she knows will be to die for.

When Brianna visits a local winery to source wine for her event, she stumbles across the vintner's body stabbed by a corkscrew. Someone has killed a man--and upended Brianna's event--and she won't let this slide. With her trusty cheese connoisseur club on her side howling for justice and the island's overworked Mountie warily accepting her help, Brianna will leave no vine unsearched in her hunt for the killer.

Another fun read and engaging mystery, and of course more of Lola’s antics. This was the perfect rainy day read!

Another pleasant mystery from Ms Ford! Brianna is starting out her relationship with Troy and then one of his rivals is murdered! So of course she must clear his name and remove him from the suspect list. I quite liked this mystery! Brianna explores her surroundings more and introduces the fun character of Bacchus, I hope he gets to show up in later books. I also liked how Brie and Oaklyn get to bond a little, even if it is over teenage heartbreak. I also liked Oaklyn's fun facts about Kingfishers. I have a feeling they will be relevant in another book in this series.
All in all, it's a fun cozy mystery and I look forward to the next book!

I want to like this series more than I do. Who doesn't love cheese? But the cheese café owner seems to spend more time bumbling around town trying to solve crimes than she does in her café. I'm having trouble liking this main character. Two books in, and I still don't feel as if I know her. I don't understand what makes her think she needs to solve the murders when the real law enforcement officers seem capable. I was encouraged when she adopted a cat, but that was pretty much a dead end. Why introduce the cat at all and then give it the bare minimum of attention?

I have to say, I was not impressed by the intro of Brianna’s new beau suddenly and without back story, but I can see where that technique paid off in the end. I love an adventure in thé cheese world. Looking forward to her next instalment.
