God...damn this book is BAD.....200 pages in it dramatically switches the plot in such a way that turns it into pro-life drivel. A truly bonkers end reveal that includes heavy doses of racism and things that go against all forms of consent. Ableism is on full display to coincide with all of this.

Our main character starts off as a really competent woman who is pro-choice and I should have known better that a book written in this time period was NOT going to treat that as a positive.

I am only glad I finished it because the end reveal and the morality it tries to impart had my jaw on the floor for how monumentally stupid it was.

Whilst working her residency at a New York maternity hospital, Dr Vikki Blake discovers that not all is as it should be and some decidedly shift practices are going involving the unborn foetuses and their unknowing mothers

Not a bad read, better than I expected, puts you in mind of the embryo by Daniel Klein
