Gan Moondark had united the people of what used to be Seattle. Chief among his supporters were the Rose Priestess Sylah and the strangers with the magical weapons -- the survivors of centuries in cryogenic sleep. Now Sylah and two of the strangers, Tate and Conway, begin an odyssey that will either or destroy what remains of the human race . . . .
Donald E. McQuinn is an American author, and former U.S. Marine.
McQuinn grew up in Texas, and attended the University of Washington on a Navy scholarship. He served twenty years in the Marines (retiring as a Major) before becoming an author. He lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and three grown sons.
I have enjoyed this book the second of a trilogy. It did seem to be a bit longer than the first. At times, McQuinn slows the story to describe how things are done in the time period of this story. I wasn't totally pleased on some of the outcomes at the end but I'm still willing to see how it all ends in the final book. Sometimes you just wish some of the main characters would be like Indiana Jones and the evil guy with the whip and just pull out his pistol and shot some of the evil people in the book. Still a good story line across the first two books.
