I read this book because it happened to be the only novel inherited from an estate. I had never heard of the series before, but like Westerns, so I gave it a shot. I do not think I will read any others. The adult content contained within the story took too much away from it for my taste. I would have DNFed it, but I wanted to know how the mystery murders were solved. From the very beginning, though, I found the details of the case hard to follow and understand. I hoped it would all make sense to me the more I read, but I still do not quite comprehend the reasoning, even though the main character explained it all to another character in the end. Maybe I was too tired reading it at night, or maybe the author assumed readers would have more prior knowledge on the subject than I did. I do not recommend. A Western does not need to have adult content to be a great, entertaining story.

Great book, started with a gunfight on page two and the action and suspense kept going until the last few pages.

There were several clerical errors:
Page 39, The paragragh that starts with "He set the wire..." the last line has two "a"s in it.
Page 45, First line, "out" should be "our."
Page 155, Last paragraph "...wasn't the same man Howard Grimes..." Grimes should be Brinks.
Page 156, Second line has two "of"s.
Page 163, Third line up from bottom "...had still been mightly..." Mightly should be mightily or mighty.
page 167, Third paragraph, seventh line "...a heap ere long." What should "ere" be?
