Debra Hyde writes erotic fiction for everyone, across the gender & orientation spectra. Her lesbian BDSM novel, Story of L, won the 2011 Lambda Literary Award for lesbian erotica. A modern retelling of the classic Story of O, it updates the original tale to reflect the contemporary lesbian leather world and the women in it.

Romantic Times BOOK Reviews magazine named it and her heterosexual novel, Blind Seduction, to its Fifty Hot Reads beyond 50 Shades of Grey, calling Blind Seduction “a story about what happens after the BDSM seduction.” She is a contributing author to the ground-breaking and critically-acclaimed Entwined erotica series, penning two lesbian novellas for it, Hers and Provenance.

Now she turns her attentions to her new erotic Charlotte Olmes Mystery Series, recasting the classic eccentric detective genius in ways never before seen — in passions both criminal and carnal! The Tattered Heiress, second in the series, was a 2016 finalist in both the Lambda Literary Awards and the Golden Crown Literary Society.

3.5 stars - Story of L by Debra Hyde was a very well-written BDSM full-length novel between Dominatrix Cassandra and her sub, Liv (L). I think the dom/sub dynamic between the two main characters was extremely well depicted in a way that was believable and healthy. Cassandra always asked for consent and gave Liv the space to think before taking major decisions. I really enjoyed learning more about the lesbian BDSM scene through Liv’s experiences at the BDSM club. The author describes scenes vividly; I never read anything like that and it was quite fascinating. However, some kink made me a bit uncomfortable (i.e. humiliation kink?), but that’s on me.

The part that has me dubious though is their profession of love for each other. There isn’t a moment where the two women talk about themselves, their lives, let alone their feelings for each other. And whenever they talk to each other, it’s about their arrangement or the lesbian leather scene. I can believe there’s an infatuation, but love?

Nevertheless, this is a really good story to just immerse yourself in and learn more about different facets of the scene. This isn’t just straight up smut for the sake of it, so don’t go in thinking that’s all there is. It’s a book about self-discovery, connection and trust.

Umm. I've been putting off this review for a while now. This book had me conflicted multiple times and I wanted to stew over the plot again and again till I came to a decision. Let's just say my mind got fucked up👍

I don't normally read erotica, especially BDSM because they all seem too intense for me. Also there's the fact that the multitudes of non erotic romance books keep me entertained. I don't remember why I wanted to read this, as it was on my Kindle for a while now. I'm kinda glad that I read it😶

There isn't much in terms of story. It's about Liv who's trying to battle her inner self who ends up submitting to Cassandra who's apparently a sensational dominant. It's essentially a love story but with a road full of thorns.

The story had a lot of depth, something I never expected from this book. The references made, the philosophical thoughts, and basically the entire plot had me gasping. The sex scenes were hot, and I would really like to know how Cassandra's mind works. It was lacking because the book was in Liv's perspective.

What I didn't like was the dialogue in some chapters. I had no idea what was happening and it took me many rereads to understand the sequelae of events. But other than that this is a highly recommended book, that is if you're into BDSM themed erotica.

Lesbian BDSM erotica isn’t a subject I’ve read before now (I’m a boring cisgender heterosexual woman - most of the erotica I’ve read would be in the horror genre) but I got a request for review through NetGalley so I decided to give it a shot!

This is the story of L(iv), a single woman who frequents BDSM clubs that cater to females only. She has what she calls “The Void” - something missing that makes her feel like being beaten and humiliated (then loved). One night, while trying to get that void filled, she captures the interest of Cassandra, who is kind of the lesbian bondage OG. After the evening is over, Cassandra invites Liv to become L, and her submissive partner. L says yes, and the rest is history...

That’s about the crux of it; it’s not a long novel. There are plenty of sex scenes and a few other decent characters we meet along the way (I wouldn’t mind learning more about them, or about Cassandra and L, but character development doesn’t seem to be the objective here). It’s “Fifty Shades of Grey”, except not awful and cheesy.

This received an award the year it was released, and I’m sure the good writing had a lot to do with that. If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ or BDSM communities, this may hit you emotionally more than it did me, but I did still enjoy it. 3/5 stars.

2 stars. DNF at about 30%. This really is not my cup of tea. Partner sharing, extreme degradation, selfish lust and not a single drop of romance or emotional intimacy. It's all about Liv's "me, me, me" attitude and what others can do for her sexually. And that's just not for me. Maybe if "The Void" was explained better rather just being present without much of a reason, I could hang in there longer. But it just is and I'm supposed to accept it.

Am I trying to apply too much logic to a raunchy erotica book? Maybe so, but it just doesn't work for me. I like my characters motivated by more than selfish tingles between the legs. Especially, in BDSM books where choosing a form of domination or submission is deeply meaningful to the character in question. Here Liv just does whatever she needs to be the bottom bitch of a woman who fisted her once but she's all-powerful 'n shit so Liv's wet for days. Cassandra's reason for choosing Liv is equally obscure.

Again, I'm probably putting too much thought into this. But I just wanted to be clear why I did not enjoy this book as much as I wanted to.

What a fantastic book! This one really took me by surprise. The book takes you into the world of lesbian BDSM play clubs and people but thankfully does it without smut or overkill of non-stop sex scenes. Yes - it has a plot and likeable characters. I learnt a lot about this world from this novel.

It's true escapism reading the pages of this book and even though this isn't my usually choice of genre I really loved this book. Never a dull moment and plenty of plot to keep you turning the pages. Highly recommended reading!

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. This is a short read. I'm guessing more a novella than a novel. Only took me a couple hours to finish. It's an intense and realistic glimpse into the BDSM world. Some scenes might offend people looking for some of the more vanilla aspects like in 50 shades.
The work this is loosely based on, The Story of O, angered me at the end. Happy to say this one gave me a much better feeling at the end. There's some hope here. It might even be possible we'll get a sequel sometime.

3.5 stars. This was a modern retelling of The Story of O, but with characters that have different sexual orientations. The story of Liv’s descent into submission to another woman, Cassandra, was absorbing. It was very different than what I usually read, but the great writing style kept me hooked. I felt Liv’s nervousness and captivation with Cassandra as she took each step towards submission. There was a slow spiral downward, and I was left on edge wandering, 'How far will will Cassandra have Liv go?'

The story was told responsibly and realistically. Consent and all the problems that can arise within this sort of lifestyle were addressed. In a market where good lesbian romance and erotica is sorely lacking, this book fills a void.

I will say that there were moments that dragged in the book. Some of the scenes were explained with such precise detail they came across as more clinical than erotic. The developing relationship between Cassandra and Liv was so interesting these moments were worth pushing through, and
halfway through the plot got crazy (in a good way) and I couldn’t peel my eyes away.

Liv, mostly dominant, finds herself one night thoroughly owned and completely satisfied by Cassandra, famous Dom and wants for more. However, will she be able to fulfill all Cassandra's requests, or is there a limit called "too much"?
This is a book that brings you deeper BDSM concept than some "coquetting" with it that most romances offer. It gives you insights on Dom/sub rules, behavior, sexual "build-up" with non-sexual play, searching for more profound satisfaction, the blissful content that being owned and submissive means to L.
Although not the topic and plot that will suit everyone, this is a good book, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone eager to learn more about the BDSM construct in every-day life.

The Story of L
is wonderfully written BDSM F/F erotica, yet I am not sure exactly how I feel about it.

I have been reading more and more BDSM novels lately, and I really appreciate ones that portray the lifestyle with respect. This book includes club scenes, private scenes, all of which are described in detail. While it's intense it's beautifully written, and you can feel all the pleasure, pain and release that L is feeling and how much her submission means to her. I also really appreciated the accurate portrayal of Reese as a transgender male during his on page intimate scenes.

While what I mention in the last paragraph are so important there were a few things that I was missing from the story for me to really love it. Some might say I'm being nit picky but in my version when in reference to the transgender side character Quinn the author miss labels their pronouns, which bothered me. I also feel like it might have been an editing oversight because the other transgender character Reese is never once referred to with the wrong pronouns. On another note, as the reader I had trouble connecting with Cassandra. I feel like we really knew nothing about her until way past the halfway mark and then was only able to form a surface level connection to her. I felt a stronger connection and care for Reese than Cassandra. The connection I want to feel with both Dom and Sub wasn't present in the novel for me. I understand that the story focus was L and her journey, but I just prefer more.

O.K. So the main question that comes to mind is where do I start?

The book is so well written, that you just couldn't put it down. It was also very educational. It may also offend some people so just be aware. Me? I really enjoyed it.

It's like the lesbian story of O, if you read O it was kind of disappointing at the end but this one actually leaves an opening for a possible sequel. What I really liked about this book was that it wasn't just a sex book for the sake of sex. It was an actual story. A plot and main characters which gives the book more depth. The two main characters are very well developed and you can sense the actual bond between them.

I'm not sure what attracted me to this book, but I'm glad for whatever it was. It is really worth your time. Find yourself a really comfi chair, a cup of coffee, you may want to consider a few extra accessories but they are optional (only kidding!!!!) and sit back, relax and enjoy. Happy reading.

This book is a wild book for FF and BDSM coming together. I am not a fan of FF romance but I like to check out a wide variety of romance books to see. It is easy to see how this is the FF retelling of the story of O. I feel the BDSM/Romance aspects were very believable and play around with various emotional aspects. What doesn’t work here is there really isn’t a story outside of the naughty bits. So if you are a reader that is all about the naughty bits then you will love the book. I think the hot and cold vibe of the book is confusing and I super don’t understand the ending. I really didn’t connect to any of the main characters and there isn’t any lines in the book that just impress you. Its one of those books you can pick up and read in one sitting (besides the fact that its nearly 300pgs) but not one you would pick back up if you set it down.

3.75 rounded up. This was a solid read. Both main characters are like-able and we get some backstory for each of them. I probably have a bit of a crush on Cassandra. The secondary characters are also enjoyable. I wasn't totally invested in the beginning but as the story progressed I went all in. There was a lot of good info shared regarding the domme/sub lifestyle. There were a few times that I was a little bored by some of the internal thoughts/descriptions, but not enough to really affect my overall feelings about the book. The book ended with a satisfying conclusion.

So, I know nothing about the BDSM scene or lifestyle, and have no interest in exploring it myself, but it was interesting to see what it was all about in this fictional account of such a relationship. I also appreciated that the "love" scenes weren't overly graphic, so that the story focused more on the relationship, rather than just the sex. While intellectually I understand that people enjoy these type of relationships, I can't say that I understand that desire, even after reading this.

4.5 Star Review

It's obvious that the author of this book aced her SAT's in school. The erudite vocabulary alone made this reading session a schooling in literary verbiage (see what I did there?) And that I'm saying this of a hardcore BDSM F/F erotica novel. leaves me completely flabbergasted. I really enjoyed this read, and not just because it's beautifully, cleverly written. The erotic themes were far from vapid - there was depth here, deep-rooted explorations of the psychology of sexual submission. Clearly the subject matter isn't mainstream, and I don't suppose many except fans of the sub-genre of master/slave relationships would embrace it, but I see the allure and appreciate the message that the story conveys. This is probably the most successful BDSM master/slave erotica tale I've read this year. It tackled difficult topics with maturity and courage. The scenes of intimacy, even in the most intense of scenes, were never initiated without established consent, and were never conducted in a distasteful or masochistic manner. And though there were times the flowery wording seemed forced to the point of histrionic, it didn't take away from my appreciation of the story. I enjoyed being inside L's head, even if her borderline dramatic litany of the Void and Cassandra became repetitive - it asserted the narrative of what this relationship was and what it meant to her and I respected it through to the end, even though many might not understand or even approve of it.

All in all, a great read.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.

My expectations were not high going into this book. I just wanted a fun smutty read, and it’s definitely just that. Liv, a woman who believes she cannot be satisfied due to the “void” demanding pleasure within her. However, things change when she meets the infamous Cassandra. No longer a switch, Liv has to completely submit to Cassandra’s every request if she wants the privilege of becoming her submissive.

There was a lot of extremely smutty scenes, but there was also vulnerability and love. In my opinion, it’s not the main theme of the story, but it’s definitely there.

The biggest thing for me was the switch on POV. The author would randomly switch from 3rd POV to 1st POV. I know it was meant to be hearing liv’s inner thoughts, but you kind of had to guess when that was. It wasn’t my favorite writing choice, but to each their own.

If you are looking for a quick, smut read, this one would be fun.

Story of L is, as you might expect, a lesbian retelling of The Story of O. It is the erotic tale of Liv, a woman who is surprised to discover ultimate satisfaction through an act of submission, and Cassandra, the woman who obtains her own satisfaction through the submission of others . . . but who does not easily offer up the pleasures of her dominance.

Before you get the wrong idea, however, this is not a sex-for-the-sake-of-sex slice of erotica. This is a story with some real depth to it, one that forces us to explore our own ideas of dominance and submission, even as Liv learns about hers. It is a story of dark romance and wish-fulfillment, but definitely with a be-careful-what-you-wish-for theme.

Liv is a switch, a woman who prides herself on being both dominant and submissive. It is a tough role to play, both wielding the power and giving it up, and you get the sense early on that there is a choice to be made. It is the appearance of Cassandra, who pushes her to the edge (and beyond), that forces Liv to begin questioning her role, and to seek out a return to the deeper, perfect submission she experienced at Cassandra’s feet.

Cassandra is a dominant, but also an unrepentant romantic. She is looking for that perfect submissive, that one loyal slave whom she can love, and who can love her in turn. She is not content with a plaything who slips in and out of a collar, a woman who comes by to be whipped when it is convenient. No, Cassandra seeks nothing less than complete ownership over Liz’s life. Before ever allowing Liz to return to her place at her feet, Cassandra tests her newfound love, pushing her to explore precisely what it means to be submissive, and forcing her to make a series of sacrifices so that the two can better understand one another. Liv’s best friend, Quinn, serves as something of a focal point for the reader, keeping us at arm’s length from the power exchange, while cautioning Liv to be careful of just how deeply she should commit herself to Cassandra’s demands.

Story of L is a story about the intersection between fantasy and reality, and the ways in which one can accommodate the other. It is both a story of the honest demands of a true BDSM lifestyle, and the honest commitments of a lesbian relationship. You get the sense that Debra has truly done her homework, and that she has a true passion for the characters and the lifestyle. Physically and emotionally satisfying, this is definitely a story worth exploring.

Before I wrote this review I glanced over a few of the reviews on amazon and was initially surprised at the naivety of some people, then reminded myself that this is why I don't normally read reviews on amazon...

Anyway, if you will be offended or upset by bdsm/leather scene action this book is not for you. Otherwise, even if you're not particularly into this scene, you should read this book! Similar to the Alison Kaine mystery series by Kate Allen it gives a fascinating psychological insight into the human underside (inside?) of the leather scene and of the levels and layers of the often surprising inbuilt hierarchies.

Unlike many of the novels that situate themselves within the bdsm genre, this is not stroke material but an actual proper work of literature; one of the afore mentioned reviews complained about a lack of detail in the sex scenes. I did, however, find it striking that neither L nor Cassandra is ever properly described. After a diet of standard lesfic of handsome butches with collar length black curls who woo stunning accomplished femmes with long blonde hair and full breasts Debra Hyde's approach of letting her readers' imaginations fill in the blanks is delightfully refreshing.

Yes there are echoes of Story of O but to my mind it's a clever feminist reimagining or reclaiming of it; L is never subject to the vile, misogynistic treatment that O endures and this is at its heart a love story.

I’m definitely walked into the wrong classroom with this one! I was just a little in over my head with this book. I guess I am more vanilla that I realized. Two women meet at a club in a very unorthodox manner and are taken with each other. The story progresses smoothly through their strange relationship. There were a few jaw dropping moments but my interests were kept high through out. It’s also a romance, which was a little unconventional and odd, but surprisingly well received on my end. Overall, this book is really well written, very intelligent and quite enjoyable if your up for something a little different and extreme.

I could not have found a better erotic book to keep me wet with desire even after finishing the story. Just can't stop thinking about it! This tale is quite similar to the classic Story of O, but the dom, Cassandra, and the sub, Liv, are both women and this book is so much better. How I wish the older and highly experienced Cassandra would take me as her dedicated and permanent female slave:) Debra Hyde, the author, is wonderful. Be sure to add this volume to your summer reading list. It is truly unforgettable and you will be very pleased.

Copy provided by NetGalley in return for an honest review. Review to be posted on Goodreads.

A compelling voyage of discovery story. Even though I failed to connect to the characters the story made me think and consider situations and dynamics differently, which I enjoyed very much. Akin to walking a mile in someone else's shoes. And if you are considering stepping into this lady's shitkickers, make sure you have those big girl panties on and pulled tight, because this isn't your typical romance or erotica storytelling.

If your idea of BDSM is of the "slap and tickle" variety, this is not the book for you. If you like your sexytime a little high level, you may want to think twice about this book.

Unless you are completely comfortable with the ins and outs of gay and/or trans relationships this book may lose you and pretty darn swiftly. No getting to 60% and deciding this isn't for you. Because it is there and you are in it, pretty much from page one, and that was a refreshingly ballsy approach.

Wasn't sure I was gunna like it at first, as I usually like more background. I like to bond with a character or get engaged. And this is written very in the moment. As I said above, I did not connect with the characters per say, but I was invested in how the story was going to play out for them. I was captivated by the relationship dynamics and development, I very much wanted a HEA for this story.

Very well written. Flowery and literary language, heavy on the adjectives, and picturesque, but sometimes convoluted and borderline wordy. Almost like a throwback to the wrting style of the classics, etc. just with a *very* current subject matter. Written in third person. I did at times find the flip of viewpoints confusing.

There are editoral issues with the ebook, which may grate for the detail oriented among us. Examples being; a Maroon fleece jacket turns into a leather jacket in the space of a page. Neal become Neil a paragraph later. Typos and missing punctuation.

Not my usual writing style, at times it felt like I was reading a Jane Austin erotica novel, if Austin was still with us, and wrote gay characters, oh and sex scenes, well, I hope you get what I mean. By the 70% mark I was totally hooked and needed to know where the story goes. Very different pace for me, but I certainly enjoyed the ride.

I got an ARC in return for an honest review on NetGalley.

I am a very big fan of historical erotica, if that makes any sense. I avidly search out the classics and devour them. This had a similar title to The Story of O. A book I really enjoyed, but had an issue with the male gaze aspect of the novel. This book addressed my issues there. However this book raised some more issues for me. Mainly the issues I have with so many books that have a Female to Male transsexual character. First off the word is “transgender”, not “transgendered”. You don’t say “girled” or “boyed”, why would you use the past tense for transgender? That gets me EVERY time. Then there was the issue I had with a character that appeared to be one that was going to be important, but fettered off, Quinn. The way Quinn was described was almost enough to make me put the book down. You don’t describe someone as having a “transgendered body”. It is just rude and grammatically incorrect. Thankfully the author redeemed herself in my eyes when it came to her portrayal of trans men with her service submissive Reese. Huge fan of Reese!

The actual story wasn’t as simple as the Story of O. There were more layers to the characters and to the plot than I am used to with erotica. The scene in L’s bedroom alone would have made me love this book, I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil it. It fit the world of D/s as I have always experienced it and how I want to experience it. I didn’t like the permanent marking came so early in their relationship. That would have been a huge red flag if a Dom/Domme had asked that of me. The actual mark was described in such a gorgeous way that I liked the idea, but the timing was so sketchy. The second permanent mark made more sense, while not being my scene. I loved that marking idea and what it represented. The timing was also much better.

Overall, the book was hot and intense in a very controlled way. The only major red flag was the permanent mark so early in the relationship. That is a huge plus for this book. The constant checking in and asking for consent (though it is not informed consent) really made this book so much better than the erotica I am used to finding.

Promoted as a lesbian story version of Story of O, I believe I may have had the wrong expectations coming into this story. When I was in my late teens, I read the Story of O and thought, wow, this is really hawt sex. In my later years, I realized, it was a kind of BDSM erotica that no longer appealed to me, except as spank bank porn.

To say that this story pays homage to the Story of O is probably true. That is about as close as it gets. This erotic tale started out rough for me because the writing style doesn't appeal to me. I am not quite sure what it is that bothers me about it, but it isn't what I enjoy. It lacks a certain polish or finesse that I like in my story telling. Since I tend to be picky about stories if I don't like the characters, the first 25 to 30% of the book I nearly put it down as did not finish. I am glad I stuck through because I ended up linking Cassandra quite a bit.

This book is a true love story set in an unconventional relationship. I read a lot of BDSM erotica and erotic romance. This is one of the best. The entirety of the subject matter was written with honor and respect. The characters were believable. When they hurt, I hurt. When they experienced love, lust, joy — I felt like I experienced it as well.

I will be honest, I’ve never read a f/f romance, and certainly not one set in the BDSM/ leather realm. I was nervous (I’m not sure why m/m and m/m/f romances don’t bother me), maybe intimidation? Possibly it was my lack of familiarity in the relationship dynamics. I’m use to male D and female s, once I straightened myself out the love story and friendships read beautifully.

If you’re looking for genuine BDSM, power exchange, dungeon and private residence scenes, this is the book. Exceptionally steamy and graphic sexual scenes, I totally recommend this book. Transgender explicit sex, yes! Complex characters, and even more complexity within their storylines look no further.

I received this book from NetGalley for a honest review.

I can’t wait to read more. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own

This was the first bdsm novel I've read so I wasn't really sure what to expect and am not able to currently compare it to others in this genre. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but I enjoyed it.

While some make not consider it "romantic" in a traditional sense it does contain love and care between characters. It also contains consensual "sexual punishment". Whips, chains, humiliation ect.

While it definitely won't be for everyone, it will be fantastic for others.

Story of L by Debra Hyde.
Liv called her hunger the Void, a bottomless pit of sexual desperation. She thought she knew it, and herself. Until a night with Cassandra silenced it. And brought out something in Liv she didn’t think possible: submission.
A brilliant read. Gripping. Couldn't put it down. 5*.

Liv is used to being playing top at the club. Though she does have a hunger that raises its head, she is usually able to sate it by switching for the night. Her hunger, which she calls “the void”, has raised its ugly head and this time it is going to take something or someone very special to take care of it.

Enter Cassandra. Before Cassandra, no one had been able to completely fulfil Liv’s void. Yet she comes into the club a prestigious veteran of the scene and takes hold of the situation in a heartbeat. What Liv didn’t realise was, being submissive can be so satisfying. Was this what she had been waiting for her entire life? Could she have a fulfilling existence as a submissive. And was she capable of meeting all of Cassandra’s commands of her. In order to be with Cassandra she has to submit willingly and entirely.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was everything you could want or expect from a BDSM erotica novel and more. Debra managed to take the reader and make them feel fully immersed in the story. With her attention to detail she has created characters that are completely believable and you feel that through the course of the story you get to know them on a personal level. The storyline is believable and I was immersed within pages, so totally emerged that I didn’t want to put the book down. If you are looking for an erotic novel with a bite of BDSM to it then this is the book for you. Well done Ms Hyde!

I find this book hard to rate. I have not read The Story of O so I cannot comment on connections or similarities to that.

Let's start with the characters.
I liked LIv a lot. She is hardworking, loyal and unafraid to ask the important questions. Her submissive side did not turn her into a mindless idiot with no sense of precaution; instead, she was sensible in giving in to her wants without risking her life.
Cassandra is harder to place. She doesn't really play a major role until halfway through the story, so she has less page time overall and suffered for it in my opinion. While I was happy she was not put on a pedestal, I still found her role as the love interest/dominant to be underdeveloped and more wish-fulfilment than an actual three-dimensional character. I loved seeing her flaws and reading about her differing perspective on the scene.
But Reese was definitely my favourite. His role in Livs and Cassandra's dynamic was very interesting and I loved it whenever he was on the page. I also think he was the best-portrayed switches in the entire story.
As for the plot, I am undecided whether I liked it or not. I understand that this is partly a fantasy that I can totally get behind and enjoy. Who wouldn't want this infamous dominant suddenly be interested in you? And I think most of the risks were avoided or at least prepared for. Do I disagree with some of LIv's choices and Cassandra's demands? Yes, but I can also see the appeal in taking a chance.

The writing was okay in my opinion. Some metaphors were too dramatized. The author sometimes went off on tangents that ripped me out of the moment. So did all the classification in femmes, butches, and so on, it felt very artificial and robotic. Liv makes several remarks about her (too) femme clothing; the importance placed on that confused me. And Liv calls her submissive cravings the Void was something I just could not get behind, it disconnected me to the story. And, personally, I just was not a fan of the ending.
I feel the balance between smutty BDSM scenes and everyday life was well done.

Overall, I had my fun, I enjoyed this fantasy ride. But I now realize that I like my BDSM fiction more grounded in reality.

I might have bit off more than I expected with this one. This is not for the faint of heart. It swings deep into BDSM, which I guess was the whole point...hence the 4 stars, but I’ll admit I had to power through some parts of it.

There was the feel of a graphic novel with this. The way the world sways around the main character with little significance as she finds ways to feed the ‘Void’; then it morphs into a journey of self discovery. I thought the way the story circles its and ties up was good. What I enjoyed most about this was the way Cassandra’s was vulnerable and how L evolves to submission.

Overall, this ventured too far into BDSM for me but there’s a good story told. For what i think it was intended to be, it was good.
