Fascinating look at advertising - really opens up into the history and what the reader/viewer looks at. Hundreds of examples... great for beginners (me!) but also advanced enough for the student/designer who wants to continue learning.
I really like this book for students for advertising design. This book is chalked full of ideas for both the graphic designer and the advertiser. I highly recommend it. The author is astute in what it takes to succeed as a designer in the business. I reached out to him and he was willing to skype with my class in Nebraska and teach his and mine in tandem. Sadly, Covid-19 shut my class down one week prior to this happening. However, students who utilized the textbook as it was meant to be, came up with some brilliant designs as inspired by this book. I highly recommend it if you are looking for an all-encompassing book for both the beginning designer and advertiser.
As a textbook, this would be a great for a college course, but each page is so crammed packed with so many microscopic examples, that none of them are actually useful. Plus, the authors’s “good” and “bad” are only explained in captions. It’s hard to recommend this book as a resource for inspiration.
Fantastic book for beginners and students! I just wish the layout was done differently, it was difficult to read at first and the illustrations are a bit small, otherwise it’s a good reference for anyone just starting out in ad design 👍
