I'd heard of this book for years. I'm a vegetarian, but I still had to get this book. He has a few sweet potato recipes that are really good. It's just a cool book to have.

Written in the 80s, there are plenty of low-sodium recipes!

Anyhow, the recipes are good, I'll be trying out a few - including the collard greens and also the turnip greens - more importantly, I'm going to get a charcoal grill and try out his take on every kind of meat there is to smoke! First up will be a Texas style short ribs.

While Bobby Seale is famous for his work as a civil rights activist, dating back to the mid 1960's, he's also very knowledgeable about barbecue.
This is an interesting recipe book. If you're looking for ideas for barbecue sauces and for barbecuing meats, I do highly recommend this book.

There's no discussion of any political issues in this book, as far as I know, this is the only book which Bobby Seale has written which is not about civil rights, activism or political topics.
