Christopher James Priest is a critically acclaimed novelist and comic book writer. Priest is the first African-American writer and editor for Marvel and DC Comics. His groundbreaking Black Panther series was lauded by Entertainment Weekly and The Village Voice and will serve as the basis for the 2018 Marvel Cinematic Universe adaption.
Besides Black Panther, Priest has written comics for Conan, Steel, Green Lantern, The Crew and edited The Amazing Spider-Man. He also co-created Quantum & Woody along with Mark Bright and co-founded Milestone Media.
After a decade long hiatus he is currently writing comic books again and recently concluded a stint writing the comic book Deathstroke (2016-2019).
In addition to being a writer, Christopher J. Priest is also a baptist minister.
Who knew the green lanterns were so super heroish. In the TV cartoons, Green Lantern never seems nearly as heroic or capable as Superman. But these graphic book adaptations narrated by Graphic Audio are really good.
A bit less fun, but pretty cool look at the Golden Age Lantern, Alan Scott. Not quite enough explanation of how the powers worked or were different from Kyle or Hal. Also felt a bit less well written - the love story was really cliched. But still pretty fun.
Green Lantern, is the second book in the Sleepers series. This book is by Christopher J. Priest and Michael Ahn. In this book you will follow Alan Scott in his adventure to stop the evil Malivo from destroying the world and making the world fall to their knees. Alan inherits the Green Lantern’s sleepers ring in order to stop Malivo. The authors are very descriptive as they describe Alan Scott’s adventure through Gotham City. I personally like the action that is described. Though it is descriptive, I find it a little to descriptive. They make you imagine the blood flowing out of the person’s body or something entering someone's body. But, despite of that, I still adore the description in the book. They describe the places that they are at and what is going at. The story has a lot of twists. It always gives some suspense after every chapter. This makes you want to keep reading on. The description is what keeps this up.
Another thing that I like about this book is the plot line is very interesting. It makes sense to me and it is very suspenseful. I feel like in every chapter there is some kind of question that you always ask yourself after it's over. For example, I would always ask myself “What will happen next?”. In my opinion, a good plot line is what every book needs. If this book had a horrible plot line then I would probably give this book some hate. But, this book has a phenomenal plot line. The plot line has some action thrown in and some mystery in the mix. I believe that the authors did an amazing job doing that in the plot line. It has a good rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. In conclusion, Green Lantern is the second book in the Sleepers series and I like this book for various reasons.
Ah, another comfort book, this one actually more comforting than the last because this seemed to have a little meat to it.
Although 'Book Two,' it really had little to do with Book One. There was some tie-over, but this book was more of a 'prequel' to Book One and could easily be read first. This book deals with the origin of the first earth Green Lantern superhero. This was not a story I was familiar with -- although a fan of the Green lantern comics, and knowing that Alan Scott was the first Green lantern, I did not know his story. ANd not knowing the comic originstory, I don't know how accurate this is to that tale, but I found this to be easily acceptable.
This book was a good study in character, showing us more of the growth of the person, Alan Scott, rather than the actions of the Green Lantern superhero. It manages to create some nice dramatic conflict in a variety of ways, and is easy to read as well.
I don't know if there's a 'Book Three' out there or not, but if so, I'd surely pick it up. Christopher Priest has done a fine job of storytelling and really kept my interest.
Recommended for fans of comics and sci-fi/fantasy.
I really like how the final book tied up loose ends that were left open during the three books of the series. Anyone who really likes superheros will like this series. Hats off to graphicaudio for the wonderful recreation of the story.
I liked this story even though there were some parts that felt a bit rushed through and could have used a bit more detail. The best part of the story was the origin of the characters. We get to know them as how they got started on the road to who they become. I recommend this book.
Taking place before Sleepers Book 1, this one featured Alan Scott. Providing an origin story right through to the events of the Book 1 Prologue. Enjoyed this one immensely.
