Like mother, like daughter? Or will Jenna Ranger give up on love and romance?
Book four of this humorous romantic comedy series continues this popular contemporary romance saga and explores it through a younger generation.
If asked, 30 yr old Seth Carter could not have recounted a single moment since he’d met her that he had not loved the stubborn, self-centered, and admittedly spoiled 28 yr old Jenna Ranger.
Jenna admits to having her fair share of faults, but Seth is far from being the perfect man. No rational woman could want to invest in a relationship with someone who so obviously loves his cell phone more than he does her. How can she let herself love someone who chooses his work over everything else?
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
Dating a Metro Man - Never too Late #4 - (Seth (nephew of Casey) and Jenna (daughter of Alexa) find each other
If asked, 30 yr old Seth Carter could not have recounted a single moment since he’d met the frustrating woman that he had not un-irrevocably loved the stubborn, self-centered, and admittedly spoiled 28 yr old Jenna Ranger. He truly hadn’t meant to ignore or reject her passion during the months they had dated, but he hadn’t understood the depth of it. Okay, maybe he hadn’t be able to see how it fit with the rest of his plans, but he did now. He is certainly more than glad to rectify the wrong if Jenna would only let him. Anything is better than the torture of watching Jenna date other men and wondering if she’s going to sleep with them. His cousin Casey thinks he’s crazy for trying so hard to get Jenna back into his life, but Seth knows he is so crazy in love with Jenna that there is simply nothing else he can do. It’s the way Jenna looks at him, and the way she touches him, and the unrestrained way she always kisses him regardless of how mad she is. Seth knows for certain that once he has Jenna completely in his life, there is never going to be anyone else for either of them.
Dating Seth Cater did not work out well for Jenna Ranger. After finally ending her four month toxic torture cycle of trying to seduce the man and failing repeatedly, Jenna is now investing a lot of energy in putting her humiliating attempt at a relationship with him behind her. With her ego in shreds and her feminine self-worth tattered, she is determined not to repeat the mistake her mother made in life of pining for a man who did not desire her. Jenna actively dates with as much commitment to finding a replacement boyfriend as she ever put into any architecture project. Sure it’s a struggle at times to find interesting, straight men, but Jenna is resourceful. And okay, maybe she still has a problem of not being able to keep her hands off Seth when he’s nearby. None of that means she isn’t going to eventually get over him. No woman in her right mind would willing choose to spend all her free time with a man who so obviously loves his cell phone more than he does her. It would be helpful though if the man in question didn’t make her dizzy when he kissed her and wasn’t able to arouse her completely with a single touch of his hand
I've been waiting for Jenna and Seth's book and it was just simply amazing. A bit of their story was told throughout the three previous books in the series, so this left me very familiar wih the story and wanting more. The passion of the love scenes in this book was off the charts! I'm not sure if the author did this purposefully because Jenna and Seth were much younger than the charactrers in the previous books, but this is what pushed the book to five stars for me. Jenna and Seth fought a lot and that made for super hot make up sex. Also a pleasant surprise was Allen finding love. He was sprinkled throughout all the books as well so I was nice to see him find his happy ending. This was a great way to wrap up the series, and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Seth Carter and Jenna took me some time to get past a lot of the first few chapters. There was nothing really there that kept me reading so it took me much longer than normal to read this one. After the first several chapters pass by, the read began to pick up pace and make an impact on me. I was enjoying the dual romance that took place and that made the read a better one for me to enjoy.
I absolutely love Donna's books! This was a fabulously romantic, sexy funny and endearing book!!! It had such a lovely storyline ..... Not one but two romances, both wonderful. I love the quirkiness of the characters in her books.... You never know what they are going to do or say next! I really enjoy how she describes the characters and the scenes in her books.... I feel I can picture them very clearly! And, of course, I do look forward to and enjoy so much that she weaves in all the couple's and people that were featured in the previous books in this series! That's such a bonus because I really like being kept up to date on them also! This is such a good series. Once you read one of her books you will be drawn to these friends and be so glad that you have the series a chance. I sure am!!!
~Listened via Audible Romance Package. This one had a few audio issues. Repeating about 15 seconds of audio in the last 30% or so. Plus the narrator barely took breathes at times. No slight pause between sentences. I felt like she was rushing to read this.
As for the story, boy oh boy is Jenna hard headed. I didn't expect that from her. I was so surprised by Seth's quick turn around and then frustrated by Jenna.
Loved the Allen bit. We never did find out the gender of Ben/Lauren's baby. I thought for sure we'd get a bit of a taste of that. And way was there so little about Sydney (not sure how to spell his name since it was audio)?
The rest of the series isn't available to listen to. So this is where the fun stops for me.
Urk! This feels like the book I’ve been waiting for this whole series. The stumbles and miscommunication of the last three books set the stage for… more stumbles and miscommunication in this book. I’m reserving judgment on Jenna. She’s not a terribly sympathetic character and this book doesn’t change that much until the very last moment. I’m hoping to see more of her in the remaining books of the series and seeing her behave in a way that supports her change of heart in this one. Seth doesn’t always get it right. He isn’t always perfect. But he is trying to do better. To me, that makes him perfect book boyfriend material. I also loved that we get to see Allen find his forever as well.
I’m not sure that I can say, I didn’t see this coming, but dang there’s some big twists and turns along the way and made it definitely a big surprise of the parts that were kind of predicted!
This was a double romance: we get the story of Jenna and Seth finally getting together and solving their issues but we also see Allen find his own love thanks to Seth. I loved the epilogue because it had a surprise for both couples.
Once again a great read in this series. I must say that at the beginning, until almost 50% of the book, I had the feeling that the story was just too slow and the relationship between the two main characters just didn't go anywhere: lack of comunication, many sexual intercourses which just lead to anger and frustration, the story just didn't move forward. This is perhaps the reason why Donna Mc Donald had to add a second storyline in the book that involved a very sweet couple, a love at first sight story without major turmoil but true feelings, honesty and sweetness. Of course the fact that all the characters of the three previous books were very present and involved in the storyline, makes this book a great conclusion (for now) of this "soap opera" (definition used more than once by the characters of the book). But this is how life goes; friendship and relationships are intertwined also in real life, and eventhough the men and women of this series might be sometimes over the top, they all are family and friends. P.S. I think that this book is the least Standalone story of all; if you didn't read the previous three books, you may miss many of the connections and innuendo in this story, especially the background of the relationship between the two main characters.
Another great read in this series. This is a wonderful set of friends and watching them all end up with their life full of love and laughter is outstanding
If you have read the first three books in this series, then you already know that Jenna and Seth have been waiting a long time to finally have their time in the spotlight.
They were dating in book one, although not very successfully since Seth was too busy trying to build his business to show Jenna how he really felt about her. Then in books two and three, Jenna was trying to get over him while attempting to date a number of men, while poor Seth suffered the consequences of his mistakes.
Now in book four they finally get a chance to both learn from their mistakes and work things out. But don't worry, they are both still hard headed and stubborn so it takes quite a bit of hot sex and miscommunication before they finally get it right.
So, if you have enjoyed this series so far, as well as a good romance between two difficult lovers, then this is definitely the book for you!
In a sea of romance novels that appear to be aiming to shock the pants off me, McDonald's characters are a welcome buoy. She has what many lack -- the ability to write well crafted characters, plausible (& intelligent) conflicts, and full story arcs (no absentee falling actions & 2-page resolutions) with the bonus of steamy scenes. I have definitely found a favorite with her Never Too Late series.
With Dating A Metro Man, I was genuinely impressed. This story deals with the complex intersection of sexuality in a world that is redefining gender roles & expectations. Here McDonald explores the tricky wicket of masculine claim in a world where men are taught to respect women rather than objectifying them. I loved this one from steamy start to finish even though I really don't like Jenna (not even after 4 books of her). Seth was likable enough to carry the novel alone.
Another brilliant book in the series, Donna McDonald keeps outdoing herself again and again. In this book it is great to see everything from the point of view of the younger characters in the book, Seth and Jenna. Jenna is a brilliant and complex character and it was great to see more of her and you slowly fall in love with her character throughout this book - when before, Jenna came across as too uptight and maybe a little selfish. The added extras of seeing Allen's new encounter unfold and getting to know him better, when before he was only a small feature in the books.
Now, I have to wait because 'Dating a Silver Fox' is not out yet, going to be a long wait!!
After reading Dating a Cougar had to find out what happened to Seth & Jenna. I was not disappointed at all in the outcome or the writing in general. the cast of characters once again was totally enjoyable. I have to say my favorite character of all is Allen. He just grabs you by the heart & makes you laugh. glad his storyline works out well too. Still a steamy book line but I have to say this write seems to keep these relationships committed which I just seem to like if you are going to have erotic scenes at least keep it true.
LOL funny. I did not think I was going to laugh as much as I did while reading this book. The first three were so funny, I felt they were going to be tough to top, but Ms. McDonald definitely succeeded in making this one just as good as the others. I found the characters frustrating at times but extremely likable and found myself wanting to know more about Talia and Allen's story. I truly enjoyed reading this series and will reread it again!
I have enjoyed this entire series. I gave all the other books 4 stars since there is no way to do a fraction. With this one I had to give it a 5. It is the best of the series for me. This series of books shows that there is life, love, fun, sex for us over the age of 40. They are a fun read, sometimes racy. I keep wanting to figure out the cannoli !! If you want a good fun read with sex and love. Read these books. Can not wait to read the next one Dating a Silver Fox.
I'm giving it a 3-star rating. And it's not because of Jenna! It's because of Seth and the other secondary characters, especially Talia and Allen. I love those two! Even it's insta-love, it feels that they are really meant to be. Not a fan of Jenna! I hate her! She doesn't appreciate things about Seth. I adore Seth! He's very patient! Good for him that he found his HEA!
Jenna and Seth's book was awesome. I knew their story would be great. And I enjoyed Talia and Allan's little bit in there too. Even though it took Jenna long enough to realize that she loved Seth...He still hung around and waited for her. Even when he thought he couldn't handle anymore he always fought for her. I can't wait to read more about them in future stories! Great job Donna!
This story has been built up in the previous three books and is worth the wait. Jenna is stubborn yet Seth is determined to win her back. Allen, who has been a minor character in the series gets his own happy ending as well.
Oh man, to tell the truth I didn't like Seth in the first book and was proud of Jenna for walking away! I fell in love with him in this book. I'm so happy you gave Alan a HEA!
Never satisfied! I want more! Amazing book and story! It was always a guessing game...was Seth and Jenna ever going to get together or was it just not meant to be? Talia and Allen's story was a perfect side story and sweet as can be with her kids.
It's official, I'm addicted to this series. Though I didn't liked very much Seth, I have understood Jenna and her fears. I loved Allen and Talia and as always the way of speaking of sex , his importance related to love from the author, fantastical her writing. It is a joy reading her books.
Another great read in the series. I laughed so hard when Lauren took Seth to the floor with her karate moves and Casey and Ben made fun of him when they caught him limping.
This series is truly great and a definite must read!
I love this series, all of the characters and their issues and their journey to love. These books are written in real life mode. Sometimes there are tears on the road to happiness.
So now I'm completely dedicated to finding out the rest of these stories so woven together! Like a tapestry it's all connected and forming a big picture in my head! Next!! Can't wait!
