A collection of 130 timeless and easy-to-read stories, accompanied by child-friendly and realistic illustrations, The Story Bible helps children understand the story of Scripture: the coming of the Savior promised in the Old Testament and the fulfillment of that promise in the New Testament. Designed specifically with children's literacy development in mind, The Story Bible is presented in a way for parents to read to their toddlers, as well as for children learning to read to read and understand on their own. The Story Bible was selected as a finalist for the ECPA (Evangelical Christian Publishers' Association) Christian Book Award in 2012. Features include: - 130 timeless stories - Rich, realistic illustrations - Wording drawn directly from Scripture - Read-aloud or read-along format - Easy-to-read structure - Discussion helps - Prayer summaries - Glossary of key terms
Great children's version of Scripture and aligned with the ESV translation of the text. Geared toward a more older audience (it says 2-7, but I'd say more like 5-9), it's a welcomed story of the gospel.
Just got done reading through this with my 4 year old son & 6 year old daughter. The illustrations are excellently done. There are depictions of Jesus, so, if you are against that, you will want to avoid this resource. There are 130 stories chosen from the Bible and each one has a glossary of terms, thought questions, and a prayer to pray. The story Bible is quite long - just under 500 pages. Each story is roughly 2 pages long with another page being the illustration. I would recommend this for family devotions. It is one of the better story Bibles that I have worked through with the kids.
