Without Hope: A Childhood Ruined by the Man she should Trust the Most

Rate this book
Barbara's father was a sadistic man at the best of times - his idea of fun was to kill the family dog by tying it to the back of his car and driving off. Also for kicks, he took his children out on to the lake and held them under until they were gasping for their lives. He sexually assaulted Barbara from a young age, often when the rest of the family were in the house. He repeatedly threatened to kill her, and made two very serious attempts. During the final attempt, as he was raping and choking her, Barbara made a vow - if she survived, she would come forward and get justice against her father ...Without Hope is a powerful and inspiring true story of a girl who finally found the inner strength to escape her brutal childhood.

Cathy I noticed every time the publishing houses has any input in editing Barbara Naughton's books that they tend to kill the natural humour in her writings. I read her very first self financed book and it was more light hearted than the misery the publishing houses dug up. I don't think this defines fully about the experiences that she endured growing up with that family. According to what she told me that she went very light on her family. That book you mentioned above was edited by the main Publishing house 'Random House' in Uk. I met Barbara a couple of times. She never discussed matters relating to her past and avoids the topic at all costs. She said that everyone has good stages and bad stages throughout their lives. She referenced to being sick of some of the newspapers constantly portraying her as a 'Rape Victim'.I believe that she is printing the next books soon according to her facebook advert.I heard that the publishing houses won't be editing them. Did you notice they printed the same book 3 times? If Barbara owned the right's of the very first book that she paid to print as I explained to her days ago then why did the publishing houses have to change the title twice? She might experience terrible difficulties trying to engage the newspaper relating to do a piece on a positive humorous stories relating to her teddy bear book title 'adventures of Feefeen Macrageen' that is due to be printed soon. She has another one according to her facebook advert called 'raincoats on a sunny day' that is supposed to be very funny and due out as well. She was fuming umpteen times over the 'victim title' the papers continues to run with. That appears to have more impact on her life now than her childhood abuse. That girl doesn't walk the streets looking like an injured person. I hope she doesn't get exploited again for other people to me making monies of her. She is a gentle soul and has helped many people in my Organisations. She is a natural when it comes to helping people due to her rocky childhood experiences. When she stepped away from her position last month to pursue her other career some of our work colleagues wasn't best pleased because Barbara has been like a breath of fresh air for them with her positivity.I keep in touch with her on her facebook page and she keeps people like me engaged reading her humorous posts. She has done alot of healing on a physical level due to the abuse that her dad inflicted upon her. I'd love to see her brothers and sisters and put them in their place. I have no respect for her mother who didn't act upon the authorities direction to leave her husband in time. That woman from what I heard from the locality used to be very envies of her own daughter and did everything she could to keep her down. She more less followed her husbands rules to ensure barbara was constantly accompanied by her siblings in public to ensure she didn't disclose about her abuse. Her mother has to live with her sins and Karma works in mysterious ways. I cannot get over the fact that her family still hasn't apologised for their negligence. I asked Barbara to drive me and my partner down to where she was born and I couldn't believe how bleak it was. I couldn't understand how anyone survived in Kinnvarra camus co. galway. The nearest proper phone was three miles away from her.She said that the past doesn't deserve anymore of her time and that she is more than happy to continue to help others step into their true light. In my business some of the people used to get days that they'd be down reflecting on different experiences in their lives such as relationship breakdowns but Barbara linked with them and changed their thinking to a degree that they no longer needed to feel down in themselves. I look forward to reading your true self as a person instead of the media highlighting all the dirt that was caused by others. I also hope that you can make monies of your other books instead of the experience you encountered with that nasty self-publishers who used your story and stuck your monies in their back pockets. I hope they will get what they deserve. Consider me and my partner and children always as a true family because we will be here for you unlike what your own flesh has done. Deceitful during the trial and tried to break you to a point where you shouldn't trust anyone. Your brothers are no better and they deserve you a big apology. Mary sent her regards to you.

Great read

Very good story, sad, but good. I'm glad her father paid for what he'd done, although her suffering continues always.

This book is one of my top 5👍🏾 it’s so good, sad, it brings emotions I don’t think one can even comprehend when imagining what someone went through.
The writing was beautiful because I felt like I was there and I could sympathise with everything.

It’s like it’s a world away from the world that I live in and it was beautiful to get insight into something so so personal.

There’s books you read because you love the genre and reading and then there’s books that you read that show teach you lessons and grow you as a person.

Without hope is definitely one of these.
I lived it through the book and I loved it.
