Great overview on how typical stick built homes are constructed.
480 page, but it went quickly because of the generous pictures and diagrams.
Light on some subjects (like wiring and plumbing); but this is forgivable since the book covers so much ground. (I may also be biased, having read other books on wiring and plumbing, so the missing info was more obvious than in other sections.)
Anyway, one could always delve deeper into some subjects with other dedicated materials.
Included some interesting additional topics, like green homes.
There were some minor mistakes I noticed in the diagrams, and one in the text.
Glad I read it: as an aspiring DIYer, I feel I now have a far better understanding of how homes are built. I would recommend this as a starting point on home repair/improvement, supplemented by more skill specific books for particular jobs. Also recommended for anyone interested in how their home works or a prospective home buyer.
