The book has a section for each Rose, plus one for the reader to fill out, and features gorgeous highquality four-color art!
Madonna Louise Ciccone is an American pop singer-songwriter. Through her music career, she has also gained some notability as a dancer, record producer, film producer, actress, author and a fashion icon. She is a multiple Grammy- and Golden Globe-award winner, known for her ambitious music videos, stage performances and use of sexual and religious themes in her work.
Hmm, this is not really a book. It is more a list of each characters favorite things. It's a way of introducing them without story. Very little going on here accept to set up the series. Skip this one and go right on into book 2. I don't know, maybe kids would be into it and feel like these could be good friends. It's not a book for adults.
I just noticed this book is written by Madonna. Not that it mattered, Book One is an introduction of the five characters known as the English Roses in a "Q&A diary" style. I know my twelve years-old self would have love it. Especially the illustrations. Hoo boy
This book was about 5 ordinary English girls and their teacher Mrs.fluffernutter has influenced these 5 girls to wright a book about themselves and this is it!
This book introduces the reader to the English Roses -- a group of 5 young girls who are best friends. It is more of a quick, informative book into each of the girl's likes, dislikes, desires, and home life. The book sets the stage for the books that follow by allowing the reader to know a little bit about each character before diving into books that put the reader in the midst of these 5 girls' lives. The fun part is at the end of the book, the reader can complete their own profile answering many of the same questions that the main characters answered in this book.
Summary: This is the first of the English Rose series. It introduces four friends. They each have different families and interest. They navigate relationships, school and hobbies while learning how to be teenagers.
Analysis: I love these books. I read them as a kid and I still enjoy them now. It's a cool dynamic and storyline. Even though it's somewhat basic, it is interesting and relatable.
How I would use this: These would be a great series to have on my classroom shelf. Girls would love these just as much as I do.
I've never really read anything like this one, where it's just a detailed summary of each character as well as a unique blurb from each of them. I really enjoyed learning more about each character as it provides more insight into their personalities in the other books in the series. There's even a section in the end for the reader to fill out and be a part of the story as well!

In her chapter books for young readers, Madonna does a great job teaching manners, friendship, and simple truths.
This book introduces the reader to each of the five English Roses. The girls are encouraged to keep a journal over their summer vacation; they are to write about all the fun things they did and list things about themselves that make them unique. There is a section in the back for the reader to do the same. What a great idea.
It's a cute and light book.So nice written!Madonna with this series has proven that she is not only good at singing but she is good at writing books and as i have heard in making movies too.I have seen one of her movies by the way.It was amazing!:-) Well, she should consider to keep up her writing carrier because she is very good at writing children's books!
Cute. =) My second and third grade girls will jump on this. A group of friends who are all very close but have very different interests? And the layout is super quick to read, and I can see the girls at school filling out info sheets just like The English Roses. =)
This brings me back to sixth grade~! I adored the series and I remember thinking how cool the English Roses were. Binah was my favourite when I was younger. It's a cute and quick read, really brings back fun memories :3
