It's been a while since I read this, but it's a great sci-fi short story. I don't remember character names, but the story is essentially someone being sent to investigate a research facility (on the moon?) where animal experimentation is being used to create militarized brain control. Great characters and emotional involvement in the hero's survival. Also, loved the twist. Looking forward to more stories from Jack. "George and the Brain" is the title of another of his short stories I've enjoyed.
