Victorian teen and intrepid inventor Sasha Strange found the doorway…to danger!Just days before she’s to be married to the odious Lord Quinn, Sasha’s latest experimental device backfires and opens a dimensional gateway between our world and a prehistoric planet. What’s worse, it transports not just Sasha, but Sasha’s childhood friend Toby and the unforgivably arrogant Lord Quinn himself to a primeval jungle. Before you can say ‘Stegosaurus,’ Sasha and company are being pursued by the apex predator of the time, a flesh-eating Ceratosaurus which is ravaging the land. And if that isn’t bad enough, the Planet of Dinosaurs is home to the Sen, a race of telepathic bat-like people who want Sasha to kill the Ceratosaurus before she depletes their land of prey, or she may never see Toby alive again. But how does one kill over thirty feet of primordial teeth, hunger, and rage?First in a new trilogy of SF adventures."...highly recommended..." -- Midwest Book Review

If you think Planet of Dinosaurs is just another dinosaur book, you'll miss out on an entertaining read. K.H. Koehler knows how to masterfully blend genres, and this story has everything from adventure, to romance, to social commentary via the character Quinn. If you like your authors to experiment with genre, which I do, this is a story you won't want to miss. I'm currently digging into part two, Sea of Serpents.
I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by this book, as I was unsure of how it would work. I feel like, despite the obvious outcome between the romantic interests, it was a rather enjoyable read. I just didn't predict how much it would be about the romantic interests as opposed to the dinosaurs.
Either way, I think it was worth the read if you like dinosaurs, and definitely worth it if you like Victorian era romances with a twist.
Ms. Koehler never disappoints, and adding dinosaurs to her already excellent books is just the icing on the cake for me.
She doesn't take the easy way out by tossing in popular and easily recognizable dinos like T. Rex or Triceratops. Ms. Koehler did her research, and it shows.
If you're a dinosaur fan, or just love a good old fashioned adventure, "Planet of Dinosaurs" is definitely for you. I look forward to diving into "Sea of Serpents."
