Recipes by C.S.Kelso is a short collection of work reflecting on their own composition, on some of the external ingredients that have shaped them. In the spirit of 'you are what you eat' this collection of poems looks at some of the memories, experiences, and bonds that go into the making of an identity and a person through the lens of food.
A friend gifted me this as I love poetry, but I struggled to find any genuine poetic merit here. The collection feels dominated by a voice overly enamoured with itself, where self-importance overshadows artistry. What could have been introspective instead comes across as self-indulgent and hollow.
