I highly recommend this anthology of 3 erotic stories, with the last one being a gem and particularly suited for the Christmas season. All are well-written, with decent plots and highly indecent sex scenes :-)

Adam & Evil - 5 stars
The shortest at 50 pages, this shows Jaid Black's trademark humor and D/s sex. Julia is an alpha woman who despises her father's match-making attempts. She puts on the nasty to scare away daddy's latest robot. Sam however is no robot, he's unfazed by her rudeness - her curvy body fazes him fast though. When their plane goes down near a deserted island, Sam wastes no time putting on the moves and finds out that feisty Julia is delightfully submissive when it comes to sex. But will what happened on the island stay on the island, once they're back to their real lives?

Holly - 3 stars
This story features explicit BDSM, with a woman who's been hurt by a previous Dom and needs to heal. This should have been right up my alley, but it left me cold for a reason I can't quite put my finger on. Ethan is rich, well-built, dominant, so why aren't I drooling over him? Maybe Holly's past requires him to pull his punches too much, so to speak, and the BDSM scenes fall flat for me as a result. Maybe it's because Holly is an experienced submissive, she's done it all before, and I prefer a couple to experiment together. Who knows? The writing is good, although the dialogue gets a bit stilted at times.

His Christmas Cara - 5 stars
The longest novella here, this shows Shiloh Walker's special mix of sweet and sexy. Based upon A Christmas Carol (of course) Eben Marley is the corporate jerk who's visited by spirits. Cara is the woman he's hurt in the past - they had sex one night and he transferred her into another division the next day so he wouldn't have to see her. He now resolves to go after her. Cara is sweet but no pushover, she loves Eben but she's wary of getting hurt again. The sex scenes are erotic but full of feeling too. A warm read for Christmas :-)

(Note: there are no menages/infidelity/abuse except for Holly - the story opens with her being abused by her former Dom).

Jaid Black's "Adam and Evil" was a good plotline with a sudden bit of the Master-submissive but, as per Black's usual, extremely poorly written. Please god, don't let me come close to being a writer of her quality.

Dominique Adair's "Holly" is a cute bit of B&D erotica. Interesting plotline with empathic characters...well, one of them is a bookseller...what can I say... Think of a short, erotic You've Got Mail.

Shiloh Walker's "His Christmas Cara" is an interesting blend of "oh, please" and "well, that's different". Walker uses Dickens' Christmas Carol as her base for waking a selfish millionaire up to what he's missing in his life, Cara. It's cute although not up to Walker's usual standards.

1. Adam and Evil by Jaid Black
I enjoyed this story. It was very short, but cute and sexy.

2. Holly by Dominique Adair
This was my favorite story in the book. The Master/slave relationship was believable, sexy and fun. It was a full story (with past, present and future) in a short space.

3. His Christmas Cara by Shiloh Walker
This story was less sexy than the rest, but still sweet and sentimental.

Overall, a quick, fun read!

After reading an excerpt in Comso mag I knew I had to check this book out. To be honest I must admit i was very surprised that the stories more or less involved S&M. Though I do not find that very arousing the stories in themself are very well written. The descripions very beautifully written that i couldnt help but enjoy each story. I think i check out some other books in Ellora's Cave.

In “Adam and Evil” by Jaid Black, Julia Cameron is tried of her overbearing father trying to set her up with workaholic men. When her dad’s man, Sam Adams, shows up at her Costa Rican home to escort her to NYC for Christmas, she’s furious at Sam and at her father for sending him.
Sam knows his high-powered boss wants him to marry his daughter, but Julia is not what he wants for a wife. She’s rude, opinionated, and not a pushover. After their plane crashes and they’re stranded together on a desert island, they soon realize it’s not a bad thing to be so much alike.
I liked the story, but surviving the plane crash and two days at sea swimming with sharks seemed a little unrealistic. By the time the H/h finally reached land, they were still in great shape, other than sunburn, and not sick at all.
Both Julia and Sam were strong-willed alphas. He was a dominant in life and in bed, and while she controlled her own life, she submitted pretty fast when it came to sex.
There are some unanswered questions. How did the plane seats leave the tube of the plane and turn into flotation devices? What happened to all the other passengers from the crashed plane? Were they rescued, or did they drown or be eaten by sharks? How will Julia and Sam work out the conflicts with their jobs (they live in separate countries) and his workaholic tendencies?
Anyway, I enjoyed the romance and verbal sparring between the H/h. They had strong chemistry and got along well once they realized they weren’t really enemies.
3 Stars

In “Holly” by Dominique Adair, Holly Broussard owns a bookstore in the French Quarter and loves it more than anything. Her life revolves around the store, and she avoids men like the plague. Though she’s a natural submissive at heart, she no longer participates in the BDSM and Master/slave lifestyle after her former master abused her and left scars on both her body and mind.
Real estate mogul Ethan Clarke has wanted Holly since he first met her at a bondage party the previous year. After he purchases the loan she has on her building, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse: spend the weekend with him in a Master/slave relationship and consider the loan wiped clean, or somehow pay him a lot of money in rent which would equal over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
I really liked Holly and Ethan. She’s strong and savvy in her professional life, but she can be submissive and obedient when she trusts the man she’s with. Ethan is patient and understanding, knowing all about her abusive ex. The couple didn’t talk much, but their emotions were always front and center during every sex scene, which there were plenty of.
Though I liked the book and the characters, I didn’t understand the real estate laws. Holly owed one hundred grand on her loan, but in order to purchase it, Ethan had to pay that amount plus another one hundred and fifty thousand dollars to the original loan holder. It was his choice to pay that extra money, so he could hold the deed and title, so why would she be required to pay that extra money back to him since she had no say in him buying her loan in the first place? The whole scenario didn’t make sense to me.
3.5 Stars

In “His Christmas Cara” by Shiloh Walker, Eben Marley runs his advertising business with an iron fist. He doesn’t care about his employees or the holidays in favor of making money. Lots and lots of money. Though he secretly cares for the administrative assistant he’d used and since avoided a few years earlier, he doesn’t realize how lonely he really is until he’s visited by three Christmas ghosts ala A Christmas Carol.
Cara Winston gave in to temptation three years earlier and spent one amazing night in her boss’s bed, only to be brushed aside and transferred to another department the next day. Even after the horrible way he’d treated her, she’s still in love with him but resigned to the fact that he will never change or treat her as she deserves. When he shows up at the homeless shelter where she volunteers, she thinks maybe a Christmas miracle is in the works.
This is my favorite story of the three. At first, Eben is a cold, heartless scrooge who’s hurt a lot of people without ever realizing it. After seeing how his selfish choices had affected others in his life, he does his best to make amends and his generosity knows no bounds. Eben and Cara are great together. They have a lot of chemistry but past hurt and pain is still right below the surface. I love redemption stories, and it was fun watching Eben finally learn the meaning of Christmas.
4.5 Stars

All of the stories were well edited with no typos from what I noticed. The sex scenes were detailed and super hot, as it should be in erotica. I enjoyed this anthology and I’m glad I read it.

If you're a Jaid Black fan, buy this for her story.

This book contains three short stories, described below.

4 stars for ADAM & EVIL by Jaid Black.
Fun and stimulating. Sam works for Julia's dad. The dad asks Sam to go to Costa Rica and bring his daughter Julia back to the US. On the way they are stranded on a deserted island.

Data:
Story length: 47 pages. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: four. Setting: present day Costa Rica, a deserted island and the US. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

Other Books:

3 stars for HOLLY by Dominique Adair.
Mostly master/slave situations. It was imaginative and erotic. Holly dates Greg who abuses her so she breaks up with him. She avoids men until she meets Ethan who offers her a financial deal she can't refuse if she'll be his sex slave for one weekend.

Data:
Story length: 77 pages. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: five. Setting: current day US. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

Other Books:
To date, I've read one other story by Dominique Adair. I gave 4.5 stars to "Blood Law" Copyright 2003, which appears in the anthology "Lady Jaided's Virile Vampires." My 4 star review for the anthology was posted on 9/11/08.

1 star for HIS CHRISTMAS CARA by Shiloh Walker.
This was a retelling of the Ebeneezer Scrooge story and not well done. It was not interesting for me. Cara works for Eben's company. He has sex with her one time but avoids her after that. One night, he is mysteriously drawn to a soup kitchen and sees Cara there. He does not make a move for Cara. She is the one who comes to his home after that. Not recommended.

Data:
Story length: 93 pages. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: seven. Setting: current day US. Copyright: 2004. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

Jaid Black and Shiloh Walker are the standouts in the Christmas anthology, but Dominique Adair holds her own with these two! In Jaid's Adam and Evil the hero and heroine are stranded on a deserted iland. Adam works for her father and is the next guy in a long list of men he tries to set Julia up with. Julia has given up on men literally. However, the sparks fly between them and Adam is Soooo! HOT! How can Julia resist?

Don't forget Dominique's tale of Domination and Submission in Holly (#1 in Southern Submission series), about Holly a bookstore owner with a broken heart and broken trust learning to love again and having all her dreams come true by submitting to the right man, Ethan, the man who buys her bookstore.
In Shiloh's His Christmas Cara Ebenezer Marley is a rich workaholic tightwad who doesn't want to risk his heart but he can't forget the green eyes of Cara and the night of passion they shared. Along with the help of the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future Eben learns to take a chance on love again.

Christmas Romance Anthol.

Adam & Evil - Jaid Black

Eek! Bad story alert! The basics were there, but wow, the author rushed her story along! Sheesh, a couple times I paged back to see if I accidently flipped two pages instead of one, as it seemed like a logical plot progression was missed.

Holly - Dominique Adair

My first read of this author - very pleasant surprise! Holly is an indie bookstore owner. After a nasty break-up with her erotic partner -- who holds the mortgage on her building -- Holly is faced with a new unknown mortgage holder and the possibly of new unaffordable paymnents.

The sexy businessman offers makes her a sexy D/s offer she can't refuse!

His Christmas Cara - Shiloh Walker

A twist on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A nice holiday story.

So I've been reading a lot of good books with lots of plot and well rounded characters lately. Looking for a change of pace I grabbed an erotica anthology. Characters too deep? Not any more!

This is s collection of three short stories. As usual they vary in quality.

Adam & Evil - clever title. Great dialog. Decent set-up. Then straight to the D/s sex? A few amusing lines but sadly lacking in coherent plot.

Holly - Decent D/s sex scenes. The whole thing was unlikely, but it made sense.

His Christmas Cara - An interesting take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A straight and faithful adaptation. Cute and sexy although more than a tad over the top.

Overall the book was a fun diversion for a few hours.

These were decent stories but not the best for me. They were short, which in itself isn't a problem. But they tried to cram a complete plot start to finish into the brief stories including full-love at the end. I sort of have some objections to that. Because of this plot-driven stories, there was only about one major sex scene in each story. So there wasn't awesome hot sex to draw me in, and there wasn't enough room for a good plot to draw me in, so I just thought these stories were average.

Adam & Evil by Jaid Black: Plane crash result in heiress botanist and successful businessman being stranded and having brief affair. Brief attempt to resist each other is a failure. Sensual scenes but abrupt transitions.

Holly by Dominique Adair: D/s relationship goes terribly wrong scarring sub physically and mentally. New Dom must get past her barriers and uses blackmail to do so.

His Christmas Cara by Shiloh Walker: Unashamed erotic re-interpretation of classic Dickens tale, entertaining (although the names are very scrambled).

i can't finish it. The first story was ridiculous. The second story left you wanting to read more. And I have no words for the third story because the minute I realized it was some sort of Christmas past/present/future I had to put the book down. If I could give it negative stars I would but I cant so it get none.
