Drago Hedl is the best investigative journalist in the region of the South East Europe. His style is concise, eloquent, effective. His writing is based on the widest possible research and conclusions are based on numerous interviews and documents that he analyses masterfully. And yet, this book is read in one breath, like some thriller novel. In the sense of craftsmanship, this is a truly amazing book.
At the same time, topics raised in this book are very important not only for history of the Yugoslav war in the 90's and the raise of the new Croatia, but for the deep thinking over the foundation of every national state. And, even more, about the very substance of men's destructive nature and dark forces that motivates people in the times of wars. Afterword of Vikro Ivancic is a cherry on the top of this horror cake.
