I grew up in the "Place Beyond the Pines," Schenectady, NY, which I write about in my short story anthology, "Growing Up With Pigs." My father was Deputy Chief of Police in my hometown, which no doubt explains my interest in writing my humorous detective novels, "Holy Death" and "Holy Mole Murder."

I began my career as a novelist after twenty years in academia where I conducted field research for my PhD in the state of Tlaxcala in central Mexico, the setting for my Anna Merino series, "A Corpse for Cuamantla," "A Corpse for the Matadora," and "A Corpse for Cortez"(due out in 2013). I also coordinated a research program between my university and the NC Zoo, which was the inspiration for my Samantha Clark mysteries, "Adieu at the Zoo," and "Zoo Brew-ha-ha" (due out in 2013). My first political thriller, "The Shadow Cabinet" appeared in December 2012 to four and five star reviews.

When not writing, I enjoy reading, cooking, and dancing (swing and ballroom) in Greensboro, North Carolina. For more information, visit my website at: www.harolmarshall.com, or meet me on facebook.com/harol.marshall.

I downloaded this ebook because it was free, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved it. The characters are quirky and the story moved along at a nice pace, with several action scenes spaced throughout the story. The main character, Polly(Pauline Isabel Berger) is a P.I. by name and occupation (Private Investigator). Her male secretary/karate instructor/swing dance partner, Bunny, assists her with her cases, as well as occasional help from her ex-husband, Hollywood Police Detective Johnny Birdwhistle. This book is the second in the series and opens with a former client asking Polly to help find a missing sous-chef, who vanished without a trace the previous night. It is critical that this chef is found since he is the only one with the recipe for the phenomenal mole sauce that is the star of the client's restaurant business. Little did Polly know that this missing person's case would soon turn into a search for a murder suspect, and put her in the path of the murderer. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

A great followup to Holy Death! Same characters expanded a bit and a few new ones make this a pleasant twist in the "Holy" series. I look forward to the next one!
