This is a great book of instruction on digital painting. The set ups and examples are clear, and the author goes out of her way to help you learn Corel Painter 12. Alas, I have a Wacom tablet, the pen and this highly technical software, but I found I have very little motivation to pursue this type of making art. I love drawing with an old fashion pen or pencil. I enjoy painting with real brushes. I quickly lose interest when I have to make my marks on one surface and only be able to see them come into view on the screen. I'm sure if it was my profession I would feel differently. The learning curve was steep. I practiced but did not become proficient. However, I can draw most anything on paper,... I think I'll sell my wacom tablet, this book, and keep my digital drawing for fun on my iPad. Best wishes to those who venture into digital painting. Goodreads wants to know when you finish a book. I have to say I did not finish the book, I was finished with the book and the process a few months ago.
Makes for a somewhat decent intro to the application, but left much to be desired for someone who has used Photoshop and also has taken traditional painting classes. Should really be "Corel Painter 12 Fundamentals".
