Executive Editor/Staff Writer of Zenescope Entertainment
Raven Gregory was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1979, the youngest of three brothers.
Discovered in 2000 by then Vice President of Publishing at Top Cow Productions, Renae Geerlings, his first professionally published work was the critically acclaimed creator owned independent comic series, The Gift, in 2003. The hit series would later be published by Image Comics as the writers' popularity continued to grow.
Years later, the young writer would come to attention of Zenescope Editor in Chief and co-founder, Ralph Tedesco, who recruited the writer to the newly created position of Executive Editor and Staff Writer of Zenescope Entertainment. Gregory would go on to co-create and write the best selling Wonderland Trilogy series with fellow co-creators Joe Brusha (President/CCO), and Ralph Tedesco as well as numerous other Grimm Fairy Tales spin offs, Crossovers and Creator Owned titles.
Known for his incredibly dark, yet realistic stories of horror, the writer's use of relatable personal tragedy, and powerful themes have made the writer a fan favorite creator across the nation.
After suffering the loss of a close friend to a car accident in June 2012, and the death of his ex-wife and mother of his children, Kourtney Keiser, to a hit and run accident one year later in 2013 Raven began work on his most personal story to date entitled NO TOMORROW. The story is currently set to debut August 28th, 2013.
Upon the debut issue's release it will be the 200th published story by the writer.
Raven lives in Arizona with his four children, a Pitbull named Wacko, and a Chichuana named Zombie.
Best selling fan picks: The Wonderland trilogy, FLY, The Theater, Irresistible, and the Dream Eater Saga
I decided to venture out of my comfort zone of only reading Donald Duck comics and try something new.
I was pleasantly surprised by this story. It took an old fairytale classic and gave it an urban, adult-focused spin.
I can't say much about the quality of the art, since this was one of my first non-Disney comics, but I have to say the art on the title page is a lot more in detail and promising than the artwork during the story.
It is a bit misleading, but still in the acceptable range.
This was along the lines of the rest, decent but overly gratuitous on the violence and fan service at times. The story itself was pretty good, and stayed focused throughout the whole book. I'm not a huge fan of the art, but it isn't bad by any means. Overall, if you read Grimm at all and like it, this will be right on par with the rest.
Readers of Grimm Fairy Tales will recognize Britney, or Red Riding Hood. Her portion of the story is even included at the end of this continuation, should anyone need a refresher. Older, Britney now works as a therapist for young adults in a facility out in BFE. A storm puts the complex on lockdown. Unbeknownst to staff and members, something hunts Britney and all who stand in its path to her. Yet there is so much more going on here. Raven Gregory delves a little bit deeper into Britney’s past, but leaves readers with more questions. Meanwhile, a mysterious ally tries to warn Britney of an approaching war between good and evil in another world. And then there’s Annie. Readers learn about her past as well, though it seems her future is far more intriguing. This series offers the best of Zenescope’s previous takes on classic stories: hot babes, gore, and a plot that has me wanting to run to the store for the next volume. I like that it took Britney’s story from a short one simply based on a fairy tale to a fully-fleshed series. And I certainly look forward to seeing any other familiar faces she might bump into. I highly recommend this spin off to horror and urban fantasy fans.
Revisits little red riding hood from the first edition. Brittany now works in an insane asylum as a doctor. There is a beast wolf thing on the loose. Ends with the wolves protecting her from the beast. Samantha find her and tells her she is one of the chosen ones and needs to be careful because a way is coming. Baba Yaga is off in the distance disappoitned.

In this volume the story of Red Riding Hood continues and the wolf comes knocking on the door of a Psychiatric facility where our red riding hood Britannie is working as a Psychiatrist. Same familiar style of drawing from the world of 'Grimm Fairy Tales' continues.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
This book is jam-packed with action. It's a terrifying twist on the classic fairy tales, and the creators have managed to brilliantly combine the story with the mythology behind the monstrous werewolves. I couldn't put it down.
Grimm Fairy Tales Myths and Legends Issue 1 Plot: Two men are in a forest. They find a bear tore limb to limb with its guts hanging out. (NIIICE!). And that is the intro to this new chapter of the series Myths and Legends. We know she Red Riding Hood (from Issue 1, a loooong read ago) working at the Seidwell Rehabilitation Institute. We learn that her real name is Brittany Waters (the names she’s going by here) Hmm which is making me think. At first, I thought that Sela was just randomly giving these kids her book to teach them lessons, but what if it’s deeper than that. What if this book unlocks their *real* stories (and memories)? And who they *really* are (are) the book’s versions. And so “Brittany” would be her alias. So *Brittany* prepares for group therapy and we meet the others. We have LYDIA MATTHEWS (who has an addiction to pain killers), BRIAN JACOBS and LOUIS MAYWAY (alcoholics who for some reason they don’t see as separate people. Maybe their really close or gay I’m not sure), TANYA ROBERTS (a sex addict), DAVID GONZALES (a overweight binge eater), ANNIE WATSON (who is into self-mutilation), and then there’s the mute ERIC. The session goes pretty much as expected with a “charming” group as these and Red wonders if she’s doing any good. We meet DR. CHRIS PATRICK (sweet guy, handsome, cares about patients) and DR WILSON (head administrator, who just cares about a check, big time ass-hole). Red-Brittany is dismissed for the night. If I’m not mistaken the effects of the war in Myst are making it’s way to Earth Samantha Darren (Man I’m slow I just got that reference) hopes she’s not too late. (But we all know she is). We see dark forces in the woods emerging. And we see what looks like the wolf from the first issue outside the dates of the facility. Phillip (a security guard who’s screwing the goth one Lydia for pills) sees a cat while on his smoke break. The (Wolf? Beasts?) appears behind him. (BYE BYE PHILLIP!) He then breaks the glass of the mute’s room (Eric) which causes him to scream out and gets the attention of the night guards. They try to break open the door while he’s screaming to get him out from the other side.
My Thoughts: I really liked the illustration of the patient’s files after the story ends. We get a glimpse of these while Red is in the group session. We get to know a little bit more about why the patients are there. When I think about it I didn’t really have any thoughts on first read, but on the second it reminds me a lot of one of the Nightmares on Elm Street movies. When I searched it’s the 3rd one Dream Warriors. Same setup, a group of mental patients haunted by a monster that takes them out one by one. I wondered was this the wolf in the first issue. And I think it was. Samuel never died. And if my theory is correct he escaped from Myst and is coming after Red. This twist puts everything in my mind in a new light.
This is an exciting story that is throw back to teenage horror movies of the 1990s including the stereotypes of teenagers in a mental hospital. The staff is also standard stereotypes with the new psychologist trying to make a difference; the handsome doctor, strong but emotional orderly, and the asshole director. Just like those movies the characters are shallow and one dimensional. I can imagine Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Geller being in the movie adaptation if it was done back in those days.
I have read a lot of Zenescope publishers Grimm Fairy Tales and this one tells the origin story of Brittany Waters aka Red and gives a glimpse into the Dream Eater story arc. It is not a deep story and that is it's strength. It can be enjoyed by new readers to the Zenescope universe and horror fans looking for a simple and enjoyable tale.
The art is not consistent. At times the art is average at best and in other panels there are some awkwardly drawn faces.
I was so excited when I discovered this Grimm’s Fairy Tales ‘retelling’, however, it was a horrid disappointment. The story never really ‘connected’ in any way to the original tale and other than some beautiful artwork it wasn’t enjoyable at all.
I have yet to read a Zenscope title that didn’t have a great storyline or fantastic art. Myths and Legends Vol. 1 is one of Zenscope’s wonderful reads.
This is such a strange GN! My biggest complaint is that it’s not as fleshed out as GN storylines usually are. It resolved the story a little too quickly for me.
