The new novella takes readers on a time-travel journey with H-0011 (the protagonist), who is from Earth's future. As readers travel back in time with H-0011 they are simultaneously introduced to important historical moments in Hispanic history, with a particular focus on the Caribbean region. This engaging story provides a format to encourage students to read for pleasure in Spanish and thereby further develop their language skills. Activities for students and suggestions for professors, in addition to a useful timeline of important dates in history, offer teaching tools that facilitate use of this reader in the class.

About the author

Born September 29, 1954, in Cuba, heemigrated to the United States with my parents and younger brother at the age of fifteen. I arrived in Los Angeles in 1969 to finish my high school education in Hawthorne, a suburb of L.A., later attending the University of California, Irvine, where I earned an MA in Spanish (1979) and a PhD in Latin American literature (1984).
