"Jo Frost was catapulted to international fame when she became the star of a new reality show, “Supernanny.” She won the role over hundreds of other applicants when television producers were struck by her outstanding childcare skills, her sincerity and candid style that now help her to transform families and instill positive, lasting results. She debuted in the UK in the summer of 2004 with just three episodes, and became an overnight sensation, garnering widespread popularity and acclaim. Easy to read and dip in and out of. Read the potty training in a week chapter the night before starting my little boy and after following her technique, he was done by day 4!
I’ll probably read this again later in the year. It’s an easy read that just reminds you of what to look out for, how to make your life a little easier and what is ‘normal’ in these toddler years.
I have been dipping into this book for months, only just finished reading it through last night, with my toddler refusing his meals the last few days! Most is fairly straight forward advice that is common sense with some great new ideas thrown in. It is good to have the reassurance that you are doing the right thing, or to be able to highlight things you need to change. My main criticism would be that the advice is mainly for 2-4 year old. there is not much on the under 2's, but they become toddlers once they can walk, so there is a bit of a gap. As I haven't read the baby book that came first, I have no idea if she caters well for the 12-24mth babies there. My feeling is probably not, as she would, like all of us, view them as toddlers. I will continue to return to the book throughout the coming years, especially when we potty train.
A lot of useful tips/encouragement that we're on the right track. Not quite convinced overall though. I certainly doubt the wisdom of having a dinner party after putting Zoe to bed.
This has been a valued source of advice for my little one. The encourage concerning discipline and potty training was very helpful. Following Jo's advice meant that my 2 year old was potty trained in a week, just as she says so. I would certainly recommend this to other Mum's even if a lot of what she says is basic common sense, it is still nice to have that reassurance and something to go back to when things feel a bit tough.
I just finished reading this book and will re-read it again and again. She covers everything from what age is best to start time outs to how to setup timeouts and creating schedules.
Overall i found it informative, helpful and worth reading. I only skimmed most of the reference parts at the end. It would be worth getting the paper version so the references could more easily be used. In an ereader they are essentially useless.
