It is very rare that I don’t finish a book and while it is no longer impossible for me to do, it is still very difficult. I have no doubt that one of the reasons I was able to make this a DNF read was because I had recently read its prequel and many of the problems I had with this book I had also had with that one. While I did make myself finish Destiny Divided , Book 1 in the Shadows of Destiny series, I accepted halfway through Destiny United that this series and its heroines are obviously not for me and there was no point in my continuing.

{ Heroine: Elin / Aila (21) }
Destiny United is about Erin / Aila Bolton, the younger (foster) sister of Sage Peterson, the heroine in Destiny Divided. Erin is setup as being the opposite of Sage personality-wise, however what she is supposed to be according to descriptions of her (what we’re told) and how she actually is (what we’re shown) are two very, very different things. Erin As She’s Told is a timid nice-girl with an anxiety disorder and a reliance on alcohol to cope with her illness. She suffers from panic attacks when she has to go into a new place and/or be around people whom she does not know. She does not trust easily because of her unstable upbringing, and a traumatic event in her youth made her even more distrustful of men in particular. She is smart, nice, well-behaved, and always wanting to please people. You get the idea, right?

Now, let’s compare her with Erin As She’s Shown. This Erin initially gets nervous going alone into a bar filled with people, she does it and manages to be calm enough to flirt with a group of guys so that she can get them to buy her drinks. Other than that, we’re not shown any addiction-battling or proof of this supposed dependence. Erin’s anxiety disorder is also not consistent, at times crippling, at other times nonexistent. She makes sure to always have a boyfriend, because with her avoidance of new and/or crowded places, it’s convenient to have a guy who will shop and pay for her things. Erin describes herself as being too nice and accepting, which makes everyone treat her like a doormat; I never saw evidence to support either of these statements. She whines frequently and acts immaturely.

Erin also does what I absolutely hate that characters sometimes do: rebelling for rebellion’s sake. Marcelo is sent to protect her because there are sorcerers and werewolves who want to kidnap or kill her, yet she continuously tries to make a stand, put her foot down, show she’s independent, and not listen to Marcelo because she can take care of herself (despite all evidence to the contrary). Despite the fact that she knows nothing about the supernatural world, or that she cannot fight, cast spells, and does not have powers. At one point they run into three sorcerers who try and harm them, and Erin is upset that Marcelo has killed them and wants to call an ambulance. They just tried to kill you, sweetheart! That’s not being softhearted (as Marcelo sickeningly sweetly sees it), it’s being stupid – as is her continued wilfulness towards him.

{ Hero: Marcelo (800+) }
While I liked Marcelo, I could not buy the developing relationship between them. That he lusts for her, sure; we hear enough about her hot little body for that part of their connection to be completely believable. However, he’s an 800+ year old vampire, and something that I’ve come to realize really annoys me in vampire romance books is when a very old vampire does not seem to mind having a romantic / sexual relationship with a 20-year-old who acts about half her age. Even if physically they’re well-matched, mentally and emotionally he is hundreds of years older than her – I mean talk about cradle-robbing!

As people age, not only does their body become tired, but their spirit does as well, having seen and lived through so much. Yes, Marcelo is a vampire, but either he’s human-like and therefore would be even wearier, since he’d been “alive” for more than 10 times the average human lifespan, or he’s vampire-like, and then he should be more unfeeling and not as in touch with his emotions as he so evidently (and endlessly) is around Erin. She acts like a willful child with him – albeit a child with apparently nice breasts and butt – so why is he so profoundly affected by her? Why has he decided within the space of a few days (out of the ~300,000 days he’s had) that she is his mate and that he can give up the quest to find his human wife (who was also turned) that he’s been on for more than 800 years?!

{ Story }
Other than Erin’s personality, I also had issues with the pace and flow of the story and how in the first half she and Marcelo seem so disconnected from the rest of the sup world. We abruptly and jarringly are told the entire history of Erin’s other “persona” (Aila) when Marcelo comes back from looking on the internet while she was passed out post-transformation. He tells her (and the reader) this entire back story that we were not even given hints to, as if he came across it in a Google search result or on Wikisupspedia. Also, the reader isn’t told for quite awhile about the battles and power struggles between the different supernatural species or the events with Sage that precipitated all this, making it unclear at the beginning to the reader as to exactly why Erin is being pursued.

{ Portrayal of Alcoholism and Anxiety Disorder }
Finally, I was dissatisfied with how Erin’s anxiety disorder and alcoholism were woven into the story. It seemed at times that the author forgot that part of her character’s history, then remembering it all of a sudden and throwing in a scene in which she is about to have a panic attack or has an urge to go to the bar nearby. I really disliked the times when her anxiety disorder and the pills she takes to combat it are depicted as being weaknesses. Marcelo alludes to this several times, however it wasn’t used as a character development component in which Marcelo overcomes his ignorance about mental illness; instead, the manner in which these parts are written makes it seem as if these statements are indeed true and the character development they relate to is Erin overcoming her disorder by making herself do so. This plays right into one of the most frequent myths / misunderstandings about mental illness: that a person can just snap out of it, if they really want to. Believe me, if it were that unbelievably easy, I don’t know of any person with a mental illness who would not do it.

Her eyes were pools of terror. “Be calm, female. I mean you no harm.” He put his hands up in a non-threatening gesture. Before he could reassure her with an explanation about Sage, she flew off the bed and bolted into the bathroom, where she slammed and locked the door. She didn’t ask questions, didn’t threaten him, she didn’t even scream. He was glad he’s grabbed her boots. She was a runner.

Marcelo’s first meeting with the timid Erin was a good indication that these two were going to keep me in stitches. Oh yes – they did that and more. Destiny United is the second book in the Shadows of Destiny series by Leia Shaw. The first book, Destiny Divided grabbed me hard by delivering all the toe curling pieces of a good paranormal romance. I wasn’t sure at first because the reviews were all over the place but I am glad my curiosity got the better of me. This series is an erotic treat with engaging characters.

Destiny United was a logical second book for the series. The characters were introduced in Destiny Divided and had a close relationship to the previous heroine, Sage. I already cared about Marcelo and wanted to see his story through. Marcelo is a gazillion year old vampire who is on a quest to find the wife he misplaced a lifetime ago or about 400 years, give or take. Sage has given him his freedom to in exchange for him doing her a favor – find her sister Erin and bring her to safety. Simple enough on the surface but NOT. Marcelo’s missing wife was not his life mate but he cared for her and she was all he had left from his human life. Erin was just a task that interrupted his quest. Little did he know that not only would Erin become much more than an errand, she would restore his humanity and give his heart a reason to beat. The journey from “too-stupid-to-live-pain-in-the-ass” Erin to legit heroine was one of patience for Marcelo and me as a reader. Ms. Shaw kept me well entertained while she grew Erin into a character I embraced. In the end I respected Erin and understood her motivation even when she did stuff that made me cringe.

I am enthralled by the world Ms. Shaw is building and the many tipping points. So far she has introduced sorcerers, witches, vampires, the fae, werewolves, and a dragon. I am feeling the dragon big time BTW. Many of the future characters are being introduced as secondary characters that leave enough of an impression to make a reader look forward to a book about them. At least that’s what is happening for me. It is clear a war is coming amongst these immortal magical creatures and alliances are going to make the difference on who ultimately wins. Conceptually it has been done before and works quite well when the author delivers it just right. I love Ms. Shaws style. She is having fun with her characters and it comes across clearly. The erotic elements are well done and blended in at the right times. The pacing is spot on as well.

I recommend this book to fans of A Hunger Like No Other for the humor and paranormal variety. I also recommend this to fans of the Argeneau series (Love Bites) for the family-like aspects of the character interactions. I am going with 5-stars on this one as it was enjoyable and made my fingers itch to grab the next one. Which I did without hestitation, thank you very much.

Destiny United follows Erin, a young college student desperately trying to make it in the world dealing with panic attacks and social phobia gets her world turned upside down by a vampire sent by her sister to bring back to the Underworld.

Marcelo didn't like that fact that his original mission had to be sidetrack by this little favor for the Queen of the Underworld but before he knows it it turns out to be the best thing that has every happened to his undead life.

As Marcelo tries to escort Erin safely to the Underworld he not only has to fight of forces bent on destroying Erin before reaching the Underworld he at the same time tries to control his growing possessiveness and attraction to this timid young girl.

Marcelo was a delicious treat to read because he eluded such raw power and passion for Erin. When I say raw passion I mean this vampire offered more to Erin then she could handle in more ways then one. However, I found myself getting frustrated with Erin at several points in the books mostly because of her inability to trust Marcelo and going against him. She either didn't tell him everything, shot him to run away from him and/or walk into danger when Marcelo knew she would be in danger.

The other aspect that bothered me was the whole destiny aspect surrounding Erin near the end of the book that never explained why she was chosen. The explanation lack depth which could have been more thoroughly explored and could have provided more insight into her past and how it would lead to her future responsibilities.

The heated passion between these two was sizzling but that alone could not compensate how the character Erin just irritated me at times and made wonder what made her so special.

I loved the story line! Afterall, what's not to love about the Underworld, sexy vampires, sorcerers, werewolves, the fae, a dragon shifter and a fae war with a romance in the middle of all of it?

Marcelo, a 843 year old vampire, is sent to find Erin by her sister Sage, the Queen of the Underworld. When he sees her the first time, he thinks date rape bait who has sexy down to a science.

Erin, human with a little extra, thinks of Marcelo, "he was sexy as hell", as soon as she gets over her panic attack. She has a debilitating social phobia that is only overcome by alcohol ... lots of alcohol.

When she hits her 21st birthday her life is turned upside down, well more than it already had been for the past couple of days. Is Marcelo her destined mate or is the fae, Unseelie prince Kieran?

"Let’s do the time warp again" a reference to The Rocky Horror Picture Show ? Gotta love it. Even though this is the second in the series, you'll have no problem with reading it out of order. I think the characters were a little bit flat and the story could have used more "meat" but again the story line was very good.

I think paranormal romance and urban fantasy fans may like this one.

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
THEME: Destiny United {Shadows of Destiny #2}
RECEIVED: Review Request by Author
BLOG: http://seeingnight.blogspot.com/

REVIEW:
Destiny United by Leia Shaw is the second in the series Shadows of Destiny, in a world full of supernatural beings. Where the first book follows Sage and James, Destiny Untied follows Sage’s sister Erin and starts right where the first book left off. I have to say it’s rare for me to like the second book more than the first, but I absolutely loved Marcelo.

*LITTLE SPOILERS BEYONE THIS POINT OF THE FIRST BOOK DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT READ THE FIRST*

At the end of Destiny Divided, Sage Queen of the Underworld sends her friend and vampire Marcelo to get her sister because her life is now in danger. Erin is a timid girl who frequently gets panic attacks and the only thing that relaxes her is drinking and drinking a lot. Marcelo meets Erin right in the middle of her heavy drinking moments and from then on Erin and Marcelo’s lives take an adventurous turn. With a chemistry that sizzles and Erin being more than she ever thought she could be, a destiny that neither of them were prepared for lies ahead.

Marcelo is every girls dream vampire, he’s of Spanish decent with the flirtatious personality that is irresistible and charming. I was excited to learn more about his past, he loved a woman dearly in his past but she ended up betraying his heart. They way he interacted with Erin was hilarious, passionate and just so much fun to watch develop.

Erin was a little frustrating at the beginning but her spunky personality came out over time reminding me a little of her sister Sage who is a totally kick butt. Erin gets thrown into a life she never knew existed and finds out her sister is a powerful Queen. But she also discovers that she too has a secret life she was never told about.

Overall a great paranormal romance, both characters have smoking hot chemistry and great action with humorous moments. Shaw’s world has unfolded into a great series and I cant wait to see what she comes up with next in 2012 with Destiny Unchained.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult book with sexual content and a perfect story for paranormal romance lovers. Fans of Lynsay Sands and Larissa Ione with love this series.

First things first: I haven't read book 1. Did that cause any problems in my ability to follow along with what was happening in this book? Nope. Either I used my totally awesome superpowers to figure things out or Leia Shaw did a good job bringing us slow folks up to date. Personally, I'm leaning toward my superpowers but I have a sneaking suspicion that I had nothing to do with it.

Now, Erin's a little screwed up. She has some issues. A few. You'd hardly notice them. She has panic attacks. And she drinks to numb herself. And she uses men as security blankets. Yeah. She's a mess. But she pulls things together. She straps on her steel corset (not really), gets back up on that horse (no horses were harmed in the writing of this novel) and kicks her fears right where it hurts (also, she shoots people in the throat, but you'll need to read the book to see her do that).

Marcelo is a surly, frustrated Alpha vampire who's a little too hung up on the past. But he gets better, too! It's awesome! I don't necessarily agree with the way he made Erin face her social anxiety woes because sometimes wanting something to go away doesn't make it go away. However, since it worked for the story and, quite frankly, I didn't want her to become a raving alcoholic, I'm smiling and moving along.

Fun, fast paced and interesting, Leia Shaw has created a world full of magic and mayhem. A world that's well worth delving into.

If you are looking for a summer read put this one on your list. Destiny United is one of those books that sucks you in and holds you till the end. There is no boring beginning to this book, Ms. Shaw dives right in and goes.

One of my favorite characters was Marcelo. *sigh* Marcelo might be 'dark and dangerous', but he is so easy to love with his witty personality. It is a rare book that has me physically smiling while I read, but I found myself grinning and laughing out loud several times throughout the book.

If you are a fan of Jeaniene Frost or Patricia Briggs you will want to check out Leia Shaw as well. Although this is only her second book to be published, she is quickly becoming an author of interest for me. I eagerly await her next book.

This is the 2nd book of the series, and a incredible addition to the 1st one! I could not have put it down if I tried. The character were incredible, with a hero to drool over. Mmmmmm. I absolutely love the heroine. Everything about the characters were fabulous. There is not one thing I would add to them. Writing style was impeccable. The plot and the pace was mind blowing. The originality of the story just draws you in. I absolutely loved this book. I can not wait for the next one!

Awesome book! I stayed up half the night, reading on my computer, because I *had* to know how it ended! I love how Shaw's female leads aren't typical heroines.

This is the second book in the series, and it stands as a great story on its own, but you definitely want to read Destiny Divided (Shadows of Destiny) by Leia Shaw first just for the background. Once you read Destiny United, you'll want to read the third book (we have to wait!), so you may as well know the whole story.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Destiny United is a great read! The characters are well-drawn, the plot is fast-paced and exciting and the dialogue is witty. The hero, Marcelo, a vampire who is sent to protect the heroine on her journey to the underworld, is to die for. The heroine, Aila, is funny and very likable. She struggles with inner fears at first, but grows into a capable, self-confident woman through the course of the story. The sexual tension between the two is strong and their romance believable and emotional. Ms. Shaw has a wonderful writer’s voice that made reading this book absorbing and very pleasurable. If you like fantasy/paranormal romance, you’ll love this book!

I really like Leia's writing style. Its a fun story with many different ways that future sequels could go. And, as extremely liberal as I am, I have to admit I'm a sucker for a tough guy that likes to take control of his women. I know thats bad...but its also so good! hehe.

I can't wait for Book 3 is available soon!

Destiny United is the second book in the Shadows of Destiny series by Leia Shaw. After reading the first book, Destiny Divided, I had to read Destiny United. Leia Shaw did not disappoint! Another great story!

Destiny United introduces us to Sage’s sister, Erin/Aila. Erin/Aila grew up in foster homes much like Sage, but developed some disabilities due to her experiences. Erin/Aila suffers panic attacks and often relies on alcohol to cope. Once Sage realizes Erin/Aila is in trouble, she sends Marcelo to retrieve Erin/Aila and bring her to the Underworld for safe keeping from those wishing to harm her. Along the way, Marcelo and Erin/Aila discover more than just love. Marcelo finds hope, whereas Erin/Aila finds a family and courage to face her demons.

The chemistry between Marcelo and Erin/Aila is definitely hot. Although it takes a little while for either of them to reconcile with their past experiences, they eventually take on the challenge of their relationship. Along the way, both Marcelo and Erin/Aila have a few dangerous adventures that test their patience with each other. I found Marcelo to be a great alpha male that only wants to keep hold of his mate, even if his methods are a bit unconventional. He did give me a good chuckle at times. Erin’s/Aila’s reluctance to give up her “human” life did become a bit frustrating at times, but related to the story. I did get angry at Erin/Alia at one time. Plenty of background information was given for both characters that helped explain their flaws and hang ups. By the time I got to the middle of Destiny United I was completely invested in the characters and only wanted them to be together. I was not warned about the need for tissues. Marcelo brought me to tears over Erin/Aila near the end. He has an amazingly touching moment. *Not going to spoil it*

Another wonderful book by Leia Shaw!!

This review was posted at Under The Covers

This was my first book by this author. I really started it without any expectations, and a little scared that I would be lost because I didn't read the first one. But it started off really interesting and definitely caught my attention.

Maybe this has something to do with Marcelo, because, well, he's hot and has that bad boy thing going on. Caring and sexy. He is sent to bring the Queen's sister, her human sister, to the Underworld.

But werewolves are after Erin, so instead of just a quick pick-up and drop-off mission, he ends up protecting her until he can get her to her family safe.

Erin on the other hand was a bit annoying. I was very happy to see that she realized that she WAS the "Too-Stupid-To-Live" heroine in the story! But I get it, she's had a traumatic past. She was abused, and that always is a touchy subject to deal with in novels.

But to my surprise, when Erin turns 21, which just happens to be while they're running from the wolves, she changes. Turns out she's fae. Yes, pointy ears and everything. And her fae people also want her to come be with them. So she has a tough decision to make. Where does she want to be? And with whom?

I am not sure, but I think this may be my favorite book in the series so far. I was so excited when I realized book two was about Marcelo. I really wanted to know more about him after what he did in book one. I was also happy to watch Erin go from the person I expected after reading book one to the person she was at the beginning of this story to the amazingly strong woman she became through her journey. The felt like I really knew these characters and even when they were doing things contrary to what I knew they should do, I understood why they did them and that for them it was the only choice. As with book one in this series, it is a complete story in and of itself. I found myself unable to put this book down and immediately started the next book when I was through with this one. Yep, I liked it that much :).

OMG- I am in love with a vampire! I read a review that didn't like the banter between Marcelo and Erin/Aila and I disagree totally... It added some much needed levity to the story.. It made me smile and it allowed me to admire how damaged people can come into themselves, to make themselves better. Leia Shaw has a knack for taking us through a mariad of feelings as the relationships grow among her characters.. A definite must read!

I really love leia shaws writing, it's very simple and to the point. its definately not like other books, she has her own way of writing. theres push , pull, sass, and much much more. youve got your posessive male, who by the way are super hot, and your got you independent women who can take of themselves, but the men complete them. cant wait to see what comes next

Quite Good

Even without having read the 1st book, this story held it' s own. If you like paranormal then the combination of fae, werewolf's, vampires, dragons and more make this eclectic tale interesting.

Wow. I can not express how much I liked this book.....but I will give it a try :-).

This is the second book in the series and I liked this book a lot more than the first. With the first book I had issues connecting with the lead characters and getting into the story. Not so with this book. Loved it! Four stars is the highest rating I have ever given to a paranormal romance book, so this one is on par with my beloved Black Dagger Brotherhood series. A high compliment from me indeed.

What worked: (1) I really loved Marcelo. He is everything a leading character should be. I didn't like James at all from the first book, but in Marcelo, Ms Shaw has got it just about perfect. (2) Aila works for me as a lead female. I usually like my heroines more of the buffy-esque type. The ones who are actually participating in the fight, not staying at home knitting or cowering to the side. I should therefore have loved Sage from book 1. But I didn't. She lacked vulnerability and depth. Aila is great. She starts out a little weak, but she comes into her own. But, unlike Sage, she is someone who you can relate to and identify with. (3) I found the sex scenes in book 1 to be a bit ho-hum. This book is so much better....yes....amazingly good :-) (4) I am left wanting more. Reading the exert on Natalia made me want it NOW! It was brilliant and I am literally on the edge of my seat wanting to read Natalia's story...got to love an assassin :-)(5) The writing in this is superb. It is really polished and some of the paragraphs I had to bookmark as they were brilliant. My favourite part was Aila's pros and cons list...."She sighed then started with Marcelo. Pros: He could take care of her, but even better he was teaching her how to take care of herself. He had a wicked sense of humor and was a good listener. Could kill a person with one hand and no remorse...would that do under pros or cons? We'll say both. Cons: Must ingest blood to live. Prone to violent, murderous rampages when threatened. Overprotective and overbearing, but she rationalized, he'd come from a time long before women's lib. Now for Jimmy. Pros: Not a violent, murderous vampire. Ate normal human food. He could take care of her. He was nice. Cons: He couldn't kill a person with one hand...or two."

What didn't work: Actually, it was pretty damn good and I can't really fault it. The only two things I can think of (1) In parts it felt a little familiar. Book 1 to me read very similiar to Night Huntress with Kat/Bones being Sage/James. Book 2 did feel similar to Black Dagger Brotherhood with the scenting, lifelong matings and the use of the italicized "mine". Yet having said that, I have seen these same things in most books in the genre and I think they are just trademarks of the genre that we have all come to love. It did not detract from the book at all. (2) The fae battle seemed a little odd and rushed. I am not sure if this leads on to something in a later book, but the whole sequence of events from this just felt out of place.

Finally, let me say I want book 3 now.......let me make this clearer.....I WANT BOOK THREE NOW!!!!!!! :-).

I received a copy of Destiny United from the author Leia Shaw, who was kind enough to send me a copy.

This was another great book from Leia Shaw. She has already introduced sorcerers, witches, vampires, werewolves, and a dragon, and now the Fae, Seelie and Unseelie. It was Full of action, romance and intrigue. The love connection between Erin/Aila and Marcello is sweet. I also liked that She was kind of the opposite to Sage, showing how similar upbringing can turn out two very different personalities. There were times where I just felt my heart go out to Erin and I started to tear up when some of her issues were aired.

I do not think mental illness is a joke and I think her illness was portrayed well. I know some people don’t think she was consistent with her illness, especially with the alcohol and the medication. The thing is she had a dependence on alcohol to do some things; catch a plane, dancing in a bar, but not where does it say she is addicted. Yes she has a problem with all public places but sometimes can momentarily confront the crowdedness of a bar until she has a drink. And I think the reason that sometimes she could not follow what Marcelo told her to do and being a bit of a smart ass was because she felt confident enough in him and more so she trusted her sister Sage. She even admits near the end that she doesn’t believe all her bad memories will be wiped away just because Marcelo will be replacing them with Good memories. That’s the gist of it. So I don’t believe that she just, “got over her mental illness” but I think she got a whole lot of confidence with the fae side coming out and the ability to actually take charge herself.

Enough of my rambling, I think the storyline was great and I just fell in love with Marcelo or tall dark and fanged. And I found myself smiling and laughing out loud when reading it. I enjoyed this even more than the first one and I am going to be reading the others in the series. I’ve already bought them so I’m confident it’s a great series.

The second book in the story starts right where we left off. Sage is queen of the underworld and with James at her side, they can handle anything. Sage's sister Erin, has no idea what has happened to her sister. Erin is now a target for the enemies that are against Sage. Sage must send her most trusted friend, Marcelo. He has helped her over throw her evil father. Now he has gone on out of the underworld to search again for his wife (from when he was human). Sage contacts him with a request, go pick up her sister and bring Erin to Sage. How can he refuse his Queen? So when Marcelo finds a bar close to were Erin lives, he see a cute girl who is drunk and dancing on a table. He looks at the picture Sage sent him and he has found Erin. It is her 21st birthday and she went out to celebrate. When Erin hits her head, no one comes to protect her and make sure she is OK, except Marcello. He takes he back to the hotel. He thinks, go teleport back to the underworld and then he can continue on his quest, easy so he thinks. But things are NEVER as easy as they should be. Marcelo has no idea what he is getting into and Erin has issues of her own that may cause all kinds of trouble. Erin has dealt with all kinds of loss and pain in her life, will a 800 yr old Vampire be the possible cure?

This was another great book from Leia Shaw. Full of action, adventure, twists and turns. The love connection between the two is sweet and Marcelo is patient and understanding and a true protector. With Erin's issues she deals with, I am surprised she is not more messed up that she is. Evan if she had been, I think Marcelo would just helped her over the huge obstacles. That is the type of man he is. Although intimidating in size and looks, he will do anything thing for the ones he loves. This is a story that does contain some sexual content, so adults only.

Destiny United is about Erin Bolton who we first heard about in the first book Destiny Divided she is Sage Peterson's sister not by blood though they grew up together in the Foster Care system, well Sage gets a call that her sister had a visit from some unwelcomed guest so she sends her second in command Marcelo to retrieve her and bring her to the Underworld were Sage can keep her safe. But the day before her 21 birthday Erin learns that life as she knew it didn't exist anymore and now she is in the middle of a dangerous war between Supernaturals. Adventures and surprises await them both as they travel to the safety of the Underworld.

OK so this book was really hard for me to get into its like she started off with a character that had some serious social anxiety issues and then tried to turn her into the hard-ass warrior that her sister was in Destiny Divided and it just didn't work for me but I was able to over look that and kept on reading and it was a decent story line. But like in the first book I found one error in the writing and I'm assuming it must have had a lot more because on the first page it said **RE-WRITTEN and republished Feb 2013** so if you have to re-write and republish a book there must have been a good bit of errors.

Location 1302 of 4669 27% : "Then Sorcerers of Wales have been at war with the Underworld for five hundred years. The previous king instigated it. He wanted their land, which is rich with magic. Since your sister's taken over she's tried to smooth things out. But it's too late. They already have a vendetta against the Underworld. Tension between the two realms is escalating. There will be an epic battle soon and..." (Ok out of all that after reading it several different times that should have started off The Sorcerers not Then)

But I will be reading the next one in the series see how it goes because I'm curious about who's story will be told next.

Leia Shaw knows how to write sexy, badass vamps. Marcelo was the perfect alpha vamp. Leia Shaw was able to write Erins disorder in such a realistic way. Erin's (Aila) inability to go into stores or be around crowds was portrayed perfectly. I totally felt for her and her disorder. I enjoyed reading the way Erin grew through the whole book, overcoming her fear, alcohol and the pills. What was best about that was how much Marcelo helped her through it all. Erin was a meak, timid human at the start of this book. In the middle of the book she was a semi-confident, skittish, somewhat confused Fae. At the end of this book Erin was Aila, confident, kickass archer Fae who was touched by a Goddess!! Leia continues to wow me with this series. She introduces us to unforgettable secondary characters who light up the pages. I cant wait for the next book.
