Tales Reimagined #1

Taming Savage

Rate this book
Abel

After the death of our parents, I was taken in by my brother, who has been taking care of me more out of obligation than love. When he doesn’t come home from a job—if burglary can be considered a job—I discover he’s been taken by a beast of a man with soulless eyes. Even with his scars he’s hot as hell, but his cold eyes chill me to the bone. My brother is the only family I have, so I do the only thing I can to make sure my brother is free: I offer myself to the beast for a year instead. When I find out who he is, I fear I may be in over my head.

Savage

The first word that comes to mind when I see Abel? Beautiful. The second? Untouchable. He’s much too beautiful for the likes of me, with my shifting moods and damaged body. What if I spend this year trying to win him over–mind, body, heart, and soul? It would be possible if my enemies weren’t a constant threat. If I were a regular guy, I could have someone like Abel. I have these scars because of who I am; these scars that scare everyone away. Could a beauty like Abel ever see beyond the beast to the man underneath?

Taming Savage is Beauty and the Beast reimagined as a dark and steamy gay romance with heart-pounding action, forced proximity, age gap, found family, a naughty virgin, first times, kink exploration, a mild D/s dynamic, and features a cold, damaged crime boss and the snarky beauty who will finally tame his beast.

Trigger warning: Discussion of past parental and animal death that happens off page, on-page torture and violence, on-page murder, sale of drugs and weapons and dubcon. Explicit sexual content not suitable for anyone under the age of eighteen. If those are triggers for you, please do not read.

damn what a disappointment.
let me make a little summary so we’re all on the same page.

we start with abel that goes to rescue his brother who’s missing after committing a burglary. you might think “well he’s going to draw up a plan” noooooo. he takes his sweet time putting make up on, because, you know, priorities and KNOKS ON THE DOOR ASKING FOR HIS BROTHER. can you be dumber than that???
apparently, yes. because abel proceeds to offer himself to the mean guy for a year to spare his (asshole) brother’s life. nobody asked him.

savage didn’t have sexual relationships in YEARS but sees abel and he’s like “yeah i wanna tap that.” why? that’s a mistery that will remain unanswered.
i also would like to add that savage is not only a bad mean guy, he’s also a terrible businessman. how did he become rich? another mistery. probably family money.

then there is so! much! sex! i’m going to be kind and say that there are like 20 scenes (i didn’t count and there are probably more). so! much! boring!

abel is so dumb. he’s with ✨the most dangerous man alive✨ and literally gives him shit every other breath. that’s not being strong. that’s being fucking dumb.

abel gives up his life to save his brother’s, right? so he loves his brother very much. HE DECIDES TO GO AWAY WITH SAVAGE WITHOUT TELLING ANYTHING TO HIS BROTHER. make it make sense. be for fucking real, abel.

then of course, it’s a mafia book so abel is kidnapped by his brother because he needed money. oh no his brother is a terrible person, who could have thought that???? LITERALLY ANYONE.
you could chop 100 pages and this would still be too long. and generally boring. and eye rolling.

i will probably read the next one because i’m a masochist, not because i think it might be better.

Well I was right. This is not B&B. Facial scarring, cutesy themed nicknames, and being bad at eating spaghetti do NOT make a B&B retell.

Quite a shame that a fairly decent premise was ruined because I actually found the crime boss angle intriguing. Alas...

It's also basically an MF story with a male slotted in for the female role. Seriously, stick a female in there in Abel's place and the story would not even blip. I bet they even have the same shoe size. Hella annoying 😒.

All being said I liked Sav a lot and Abel was an ok character in a vacuum (aka not in this particular story)... So this was cruising along at about a C- ... not a train wreck but also not a winner .... (maybe 2.5 stars ish?)

And Then.
AND THEN.

At 85% It hit a wall, bounced off the retaining barrier, and flipped right over the cliff.

Now it's in the bargain-basement-bullshit-bin where it deserves to be.

It's cozy down there today. I bet Taming Savage and The Good Liar are painting each other's nails right about now. 💅🏻

I think some of these authors must have some weird self-sabotage complex in their own lives given some of the absolutely IDIOTIC BULLSHIT their characters pull late in the game. Like a Hail-Mary own-goal.

Proper RTC, maybe 😒

I enjoyed Taming Savage as a mostly low-angst beauty and the beast retelling. My only drawback is I found the characters lacking much growth over the course of the story. Overall its an enjoyable read that had a great blend of romance and action.

A Joyfully Jay review.

2.5 stars

Taming Savage is book one in the Tales Reimagined series and, unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. In theory, this is supposed to be a re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast with a dark mafia twist. Instead, the story features an obnoxious brat of a boy wanting to be put in his place by his six-foot-plus sugar daddy. It’s sunshine meets grumpy with spankings; while there’s a gunfight and a casual, off-handed mention of Abel being tortured by some rival mafia goons, very little darkness is involved.

To be honest, I didn’t enjoy any part of this book. The characters felt empty, the hand waving at the “mafia” family gimmick had little bearing on the characters, and as a plot device, it was so clumsily inserted that I honestly think the book would have been better without it. The romance didn’t feel genuine and the hook of it being a Beauty and the Beast retelling was only in the blurb.

Read Elizabeth’s review in its entirety here.

I love beauty & the beast style books, i adored how this story captured elements of the original while creating its own story.

Savage and Abel are each interesting characters, with their own trauma and struggles to work through. This book captures all those hurt/comfort feels in a lot of moments, as these two develop a relationship and open up to each other.

While Savage is keeping Abel due to agreement, I enjoyed how Abel still pushes back and Savage is the one who falls fast. Got to have those misunderstandings and grumpiness as he struggles to convey his feels to his beauty.

The steam is off the charts and I enjoyed their exploration together, the slow building feels over time as get to see new sides to one another. All of the affection, dates, gifts and vacation spending time with each other as they fall in love.

Also got to mention the library of course, which is wonderful and their reading to one another escaping into other worlds together. Finding a space to hide away and their romance outside of the heated moments, it's just so tender.

The rest of the cast Wuin & Michael, Damon and Adam & his mother. Every single one adds their own charm and character to the tale, allowing Abel and Savage to see new povs.

Also there are some amazing action scenes and brutal moments towards the end, which really highlighted their growth and gave both the opportunity to show who they truly are.

Finally moving onto a happy future together, where they can be free to be who they truly want to be 💛

High-steam mafia Beauty & The Beast retelling. If you think that sounds absurd but fun, you're on the right track.

CW: Murder (on page), torture (on page)
Representation: MC with facial scarring
Sexual content: Explicit. Frequent. Blowjobs, anal sex (strict top/bottom), rimming.
Kink: Spanking

There was nothing believable about this story but I kind of liked it anyway.

Abel has been living with his older brother Cris since he was 8. It's clear from the get-go that Cris is an absolute shithead, only wanting Abel to continue his education so that he can get a job and pay Cris back for everything he cost him.

In spite of this, Cris is family so when he doesn't come home after a robbery, Abel just shows up at the place where his phone was last pinged and...knocks on the door to ask if his brother's there? Of course he's held at gunpoint and taken to see the boss, Savage.

I did a lot of scoffing while reading this.

Abel, who by the way is a tiny 5'3" college student, is very much a feisty kitten. He can't seem to keep his big mouth shut, and after basically telling Savage he's an asshole, Abel offers himself up to Savage to do as he pleases for a year. The only condition is that he doesn't hurt him or his brother.

Abel is secretly (and not so secretly) getting off on this deal, giving Savage amazing blowjobs whenever he asks and pining after him.

Did you know he has no gag reflex? Oh? You didn't? It was only mentioned like 10 times in this book.

Anyway.

There's a bunch of sex from pretty early on but actually I thought the emotional timeline was good. And there are plenty of sweet moments, where they open up to each other, and are both sweet and understanding.

I loved that Abel likes to wear make-up, pretty clothes, big heels, and that no one feels the need to comment on it apart from to tell him how amazing he looks. When Savage buys him the outfit with the fluffy jumper and the heels and the panties? Yes. More please.

I liked the middle of this fairly well - from 20% through to about 80%.

It went a bit off the rails at the end.

I mean, when Abel's brother turns out to be a massive dickhead, Abel's all *surprised pikachu meme*. Buddy, you seem smart enough, did you not see this coming? I'm not even spoiler-tagging this because the only one surprised here is Abel.

And there is explicit, if not tremendously detailed, torture on page. Abel resists like a champ and doesn't seem traumatised...I mean, ok, sure.

Overall, I still enjoyed the bulk of this book, but it was so unbelievable and caused so much eye-rolling that I can't rate it more than 3 stars.

There will be a next book, a Little Red Riding Hood retelling focusing on Quin, which I'll read because why the hell not.

2.5 stars. Eh. I got exactly what I expected out of this, but I also didn't get anything more than I expected out of it, which is a little bit of a disappointment. A dark-ish, mafia-adjacent m/m Beauty and the Beast retelling, with a fierce college student who wants to take care of his older brother, and the scarred businessman/criminal he gets tangled up with. It's tropey and over the top in a lot of good ways, but the writing did pretty much nothing for me. Some of the prose was just a bit too exaggerated and voice-y. I know I've enjoyed books written like this before, so maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of style. Abel is a great character type: physically weaker and sorta innocent, but he takes absolutely no shit from the big mean mafia man, and it takes about two seconds for him to stop being scared of Savage. That was pretty cute. Savage actually had more of a character arc and a personality than I was expecting from a book like this, so kudos on that score. But on the flipside, it got sappy in ways that didn't fit the atmosphere (or what I thought the atmosphere was gonna be). The brother character was distressingly one-note, and everything that happened there was predictable. The last quarter leading up to the ending was weird because, well, the author could have manufactured some conflict in a way that would have been tiresome and boring and it looked like things were going to go in that direction. But it didn't! So, good! But also, it ended up feeling like the interior conflict/relationship stuff peaked and plateaued way early on? I mean, there was still mafia stuff happening, so it's not like there was no plot, but idk. It wasn't my favourite romance arc. And this was really sexy, no doubt about it, hell yeah etc, but I could have done with juuuuust a few less sex scenes, lol.

Still! Overall very cute, and it satisfied the brain itch I had for something tropey and fun. I could see myself reading more in the series, which deals with Savage's friends.

4.5/5 stars overall. 5/5 stars for spice and 4/5 for the storyline. Taming Savage by RS McKenzie is a very good dark romance book with great character development.

I grew to love every character except the villain of the story. I really didn’t like him which shows his character development was just as good even though he wasn’t present during most of the book.

It was a great story considering this is the first mafia storyline the author has written. The mafia aspect could have been a little more detailed and in-depth. The romance aspect of this book was chef’s kiss. The love story between the two MC’s was, in my opinion, written perfectly.

I enjoyed this book so much that I absolutely will read more books by this author. I look forward to the next book in this series.

I was soooo close to finishing this book but Injust couldn’t do it anymore. There was sooooo much sex. Like the two barely communicated. I like steam in my books but this just felt repetitive and did nothing for the plot. I really tried.

3⭐?? Maybe more like 2.5⭐?

I'm not sure what I feel about this book, really. Was it enjoyable? Yes. Did I love it? Nope.

For starters, don't read this expecting anything dark, because it is not. Yes, we have some kind of mafia romance (but tagging this as such is stretching it a bit too much) since Sav is the head of a crime organization that deals with drugs and guns and thinks like that. Did Sav feel like the head of a crime organization? Sorry, but no. He's too prince charming for that.

And that's one of the issues I had with this. Yes, I went in knowing this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, and so I expected that fairytale-like aura to some extent. But... to some extent. This felt too fairytaleish for my taste. Maybe not what I was expecting with a cover like that, I guess.

I feel everything was too good to be true. Sav is a badass but also a softie; Abel is a pure virgin (of course) but also gives BJs like no other and has no gag reflex; and so on.

I started reading this expecting something different (definitely darker) but I was so ready to enjoy it... and became skeptical when I got to their first encounter. How unrealistical can something be without being ridiculous? The way Abel offers himself and Sav accepts just like that, the whole situation and their dialogues rubbed me the wrong way. Sometimes I don't mind romances being utterly unrealistic, but this was not one of those, it was just way too much for me.

Things got better, though. It was pretty predictable most of the time, but I liked Abel's character and how vulnerable Sav was sometimes. Abel standing up against Sav was pretty funny to read, and that's what made me get into the story. Their bantering was hilarious sometimes, and Quin (Sav's friend and Bodyguard) witnessing their discussions was an extra I loved.

Then things start getting hot between the two, and the Hurt/Comfort factor arises. And I quite liked it, really. Michael and Quin are loving characters (and Adam, too, adorable kid) and I wouldn't mind reading their books once they come out. I'm just a sucker for supporting characters hahaha and I always end up loving them (can't wait to see how they will connect Michael and Damon after how the book ends, and loved Red in the sneak peak we have at the end).

Abel and Sav as a couple were good. They fit, their sex is hot enough and it doesn't get boring. It felt a bit long for me, but I think it was more a me thing than anything. The story is entertaing, much mor so if you enjoy retellings, and the romance was kinda soft and beautiful. A bit too perfect sometimes, if that makes sense.

Overall, it's a good read. Maybe I didn't love it as much as I thought I would, but enjoyable it is!!

I wanted to like this, i really did. I love mafia romances and fairytales. But....i dnf @ 30%.

I HATED Abel. He's supposed tp be a 22 year old college guy, who has mostly raised himself with some help from his dickhead big brother. So i was expecting reasonable levels of maturity. Nops, he comes off more 15 year old highschool mean girl than 22 year old college guy. He's just....stupid.

And Savage, for being the head of a mafia family, is a straight up doormat. Grow some balls my man! I have no idea how this dude has made it in business, much less as a criminal, as he seems just as stupid as Abel.

Michael and Quinn seem interesting, so i may give their books a try.

If you are looking for dark, or at least some depth to the characters, don't bother with this book.

Taming Savage is the first book in RS McKenzie's Tales Reimagined series. It's Beauty and the Beast reimagined as a dark(ish) and steamy gay romance. It's told from a first person dual point of view and has a guaranteed happily ever after. You can expect action, forced proximity, an age gap, found family, first times, kink exploration, a mild D/s dynamic, a cold and damaged crime boss, and his snarky beauty.

As always, review the content and trigger warnings to decide if this book is right for you. Note that this list of warnings may be incomplete. Please take care of yourself while reading.
Why did I just agree to take that beautiful boy in exchange for his brother? He doesn’t want me and he never will, judging by the way he recoiled when I looked at him. A reaction I’m used to, though I wish I didn’t get it from him because he’s perfect. I would give just about anything to have him look at me with love. Hell, lust would do better than him being afraid.

Okay, this book was just fun. It wasn't as dark as I anticipated at all. You're definitely going to have to suspend reality a bit to read this one, but that's all part of the fun. I do think this story dragged just a little bit in some spots with the conclusion happening too quickly, but that was balanced with the spice and relationship development between Savage and Abel.

They were just the cutest. Savage wasn't the captor I expected him to be when Abel first meets him. He wants Abel to be comfortable and still has him going to college. Abel turns out to actually be better off with Savage than his absolute asshat of a brother. I loved watching the parameters of their "agreement" change over the course of the book. The spice between them was great, and the buildup between them was full of heated glances and anticipation. The found family was just so cute. I loved Janet and Adam, and it was sweet that cranky Savage had such a spot spot for them (one of my favourite microtropes in a book, let's be honest). I'm glad we're not done with Quin and Michael because they completely deserve their happily ever afters!
“Take my cock. It’s yours. All yours.” I don’t know why I said that, but it’s true. He owns me. All of me. It’s taken me to enter his sweet body to realize that everything was leading up to this. To me being his. Irrevocably.

This is one of those books that I finished and, after looking at reviews, am left wondering if I read the same book as everyone else?! I absolutely enjoyed this book!! Truly the only reason for the 4.5-star review is due to some of the pacing; it seemed to go up and down and up and down and was a bit inconsistent. That being said, it really did not take away from the story for me!!

I loved the dynamic between Abel and Sav!! The age gap, the size difference, all of it—SO GOOD!! I’m also a fan of the fact that we got to see a smidge of some milking kink!!! Abel meets Sav through some extenuating circumstances that his older brother, Cris ends up in. Honestly—Cris’ character is awful. I hated every second of page time he got. Which, for being a villain, that’s what I want to see; I never want to be able to understand the villain, I don’t want to somewhat like them, none of that!!

This book is a Beauty and the Beast REIMAGINING—not a retelling—a reimagining. I loved that many of my favorite characters from B&B were brought to life in this story!! Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiére, and Cogsworth can all be imagined through some of the side characters of this story!! It took me a bit but the nods to Beauty and the Beast definitely clicked for me!! Savage embodies the beast and Abel definitely embodies Belle. They are so freaking perfect together it’s unreal!! And Savage’s growth and development?! Absolutely loved it. Just like the Beast, we see him soften up; we see him love, laugh, and SMILE!! And Abel, just like Belle, is to thank for all of it!! One thing I REALLY enjoyed was Abel’s bratty demeanor, and the way he pulled Savage out of his shell! Abel is sarcastic and witty, and his humor is honestly perfection!! These two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried, but their story is utterly breathtaking!!

There’s some darker aspects to this—Savage is a crime boss after all, so be prepared for that! I felt that RS incorporated all of the aspects of Abel’s life, as well as Savage’s perfectly; we got all the details of their lives together, as well as outside of their relationship, without anything being taken away from their love story!! This one travels into some kink exploration and RS not only handled it well, but wrote it in a way that it did not overtake the spicy scenes! This one has the perfect amount of spice, banter and just all around chemistry!!

If you’re looking for something a little different I definitely recommend giving this one a try!

The beast wasn’t beastly enough. There wasn’t a transition from ‚let’s let him settle in‘ to ‚suck my dick‘.

Also I hated that ‚Savage‘ (ridiculous nickname btw) wanted to have a normal life. Bohoo the mafia is so bad. Fuck off. Also they beat the beauty (what was his name again) for the location of the beast? Wtf? Wait until he is back in his home. Come with 20 people and he is done. My good the Russians should have asked me for help instead of the dumbass brother. Also the brother bothered to take care of the
Beauty for reasons? In reality he hates him because the parents liked the beauty better? That’s just lazy writing. The plot… everyone knows the original plot. Now there is just fucking. There is sex scene after sex scene and tbh I got bored. There weren’t that good.
Not recommended.

Savage could have been more of a brute, he wasn’t mean enough if I’m being honest.

Abel was so sweet, he really deserved better! I honestly didn’t see the twist coming and since there was really no mention of a twist, I think that made it even better! I’m just glad everyone made it out alive because they deserve a new life.

All three of them admitting they were tired ugh, can’t believe i’m proud of men but good for them for standing together and leaving when they needed to.

Abel really really deserved better, hope his brother rots!

I will be reading this whole series because quin and michael seem very interesting!

Abel trades a year of his life in sexual service to Savage in exchange for his brother's freedom. Savage is just plain scary as a crime lord and Abel is beautiful, brave and innocent but happens to wear lingerie, heels and make up. In a twist on Beauty and the Beast, this is such a romantic book even with mafia, violence and addictive smut involved. This is the first book I've read from this author but I'm already wishing for the next one. I LOVE all these characters and hope happiness comes to them also. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

Abel & Savage

I'm rounding this up from 3.5. It took me a little bit to get into this one. I just couldn't seem to stay interested at first. I'm glad I pushed myself to keep going though. The story does pick up and became very interesting. I'm looking forward to book two.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

For a beauty and the beast retelling, I thought it was pretty good. I however believe it was dragged out a little to long but other than that it was great. The smut scenes were great and detailed and the plot was amazing as well.

Good concept but 44% in and the concept fell completely flat. Abel was not a Belle like character at all he is bratty and gets away with it constantly and Savage is not savage at all. He isn’t stern and bows to Abel quite quickly. I was over it far too soon.

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed Abel and Savage. Ok and the side characters as well. Both MCs were extremely likable and have a heartbreaking past.

When Abel gives himself to Savage for a year, not only do they desire each other but they find common group and develop feelings. Abel is sassy and Feisty and Savage secretly loved it. Savage is slowly breaking down his walls as he spends time and learning more of who Abel is.

Pleased take notice of TW if you have any concerns. I really did enjoy them and then getting the happiness they deserved and look forward to the next book in the series as I mentioned I really liked the side characters.

DNF. I think I've seen this film before and I didn't like the ending... the beginning, the middle.
I wanna cry. I'm frustrated. I was so excited about this story but turnes out it's another case of "a great idea, a horrible execution".

You know how there are situations when you just know a woman is written by a man? Here we have a famous case of "gays written by a woman". Especially when characters can't shup the fuck up about clothes and makeup.

We're starting with out main character, Abel aka the beauty, telling us about his life with his brother and about his dead parents (of course the parents are dead, what did you expect?). Instant infodumping and I'm already bored on page one. Endless internal monologue made me sleepy right away. Authors who still use so much internal monologue and infodumping to this day need to go to jail. This type of text is unreadable.

Abel's brother is literally a thief and he casually went on a deal but then he never came back home so Abel searched for his brother's phone's location and was gonna go after his brother. Listen, I have no idea how this crime shit works but do you actually go alone, leave your car almost near a target house and leave your phone turned on? And the said brother is still free and in business? Okay. So Abel suspects his brother is in danger so what do you think he does? Yeah, he's going to that location to do... something. But before that he needs to put on makeup!! And for some reason I have to read about him putting it on.

And then Abel points out "how good his ass looks in these jeans". I shit you not, I've seen the same phrase in a lot of MM books, and I'm getting tired of it. Oh look, my brother is in danger and I'm gonna save him, by the way my ass looks fantastic! Great, yeah?

Abel meets "the bad guys". They instantly threaten him with a gun, and what does he do? He thinks how hot these people are! He calls them Driver and Captive (really?) And of course Abel is this tiny shorty thing who likes panties while everyone around him is 10 feet tall hawt 🔥 men with big biceps. *Sighs*. One of them even looks like... wait for it... the mix of Brad Pitt and Henry Cavill. Are we still writing this shit in 2024?

So he's instantly attracted to the beast aka Savage (yes, that's how everyone calls him). But first Abel screams when he sees his scars. Screams. Really? Let's be honest are you gonna actually scream when you see someone having big, noticeable scars (as long as you're not a 5 years old)? You're gonna be surprised, maybe a little bit turned off — but scream? Not realistic to me. It's just scars. I mean Abel is okay with guns, threats and talking about blow jobs with dangerous strangers but scars are what make him scream.

Abel threatens to call the police on these bad guys with guns while they still could shoot him any second. Isn't he great at negotiating? Then he offers himself instead of his brother and you know what? Who cares? Why should we care about his brother? We don't know him as a character and from what we've been told by Abel he wasn't a great brother to Abel. We knew Belle's father, we knew he was a great person and we've seen his close and loving relationship with his daughter. Her sacrifice was meaningful unlike here where the main character looks more excited about the prospect of being fucked by Savage than about saving his brother.

Savage starts talking about having sex with Abel and Abel gets hard... I have no words. Listen, you're 22, yes you're a horny virgin, but let's imagine you're not an imbecile. THESE ARE DANGEROUS STRANGERS WITH GUNS AND THAT SAVAGE GUY IS GONNA HOLD YOU CAPTIVE AND PROBABLY RAPE YOU OR DO GOD KNOWS WHAT TO YOU. Belle did what she had to do to save her father but she was scared, lonely and she wasn't happy about her situation. She still wanted to get out. Idk maybe Abel is just kinky to the point he's turned on by idea of being threatened with a gun? Of being forced into sex?

Abel is really stupid and stereotypical, and he thinks about his ass looking great at those jeans again, and that's how they usually write women which makes me even angrier because not all of us are like this? This is just not a realistic behavior. As if all women are made of is clothes, makeup, stupid ideas and thinking about hot men with sexy abs. But now they make them male and wrap it up in a MM wrapper. If I wanted to read about stupid women like this, I would pick up some trashy straight romance.

After this we are in Savage's head. Oh boy, we're dealing with mafia here so of course bad russians are instantly mentioned! Hate to break it to you guys but Russia doesn't have real scary mafia since like early 2000s. Savage starts telling his story and how his father died and I'm like who cares? Do something, don't tell us shit! I don't care how your father died right now, I don't even care about you yet! Shut up and do something instead! Telling, telling, telling. It's obvious right away that the big scary mafia guy is actually the sweetest thing deep inside. Of course he thinks Abel is the most beautiful creature on the Earth. Savage hasn't been hard (what?) since 1876 but Abel cures him with his looks OBVIOUSLY. And then this stupid thing happens when a character says this:

"I could just as easily put Abel in the east wing of the house, where he will be at least six bedrooms down from me, but I don’t want to do that. I tell myself that I might want him to suck my cock in the middle of the night and it would be inconvenient to walk to the other side of the mansion, but it could be something else. I’m not quite sure yet and I don’t dwell on it."

"... but it could be something else. I’m not quite sure yet and I don’t dwell on it."
No one thinks like that ever. Yet writers keep saying shit like "oh, what is this thing in my chest? Why is it beating so loudly? Idk but maybe we'll find out later *wink wink*" That's not the character talking. That's the author sending signals to readers "oh my, he's falling in love! but he doesn't know it yet! and you, reader, please pretend you didn't notice this sentence and, please, act surprised later". It's not cute at all. Oh, and by the way Abel and Savage don't even know each other yet, what kind of falling in love bullshit are we talking about? They've seen each other once, said a couple words to each other and both got their dicks hard — that's it!

I couldn't do this anymore after this. You know the drill — if you're an experienced reader and a person, you've already seen this movie before and you won't get anything meaningful from this story. These characters are just unbelievable and everything is cartoon-like.

Okay, honestly mixed feelings. Abel kept making bad decisions and the pace felt off. The characters lacked growth and while the story idea was a good one, I didn't enjoy this one too much. I probably won't be reading the rest of the series...

Abel was so dumb and the dialogue in general was extremely cheesy.
