Detective Mitch Kane is hired by millionaire Layton Keller to find his son and the woman who took the boy fourteen years ago.
But Mitch soon discovers that Alaina Chancellor isn’t anything like he expected. Before he knows it, the boy has been kidnapped and Mitch is protecting Alaina from hit men while trying to help her get Jonah back.
But Alaina has been hurt before, and she doesn’t trust anyone easily, especially a detective hired by her son’s father.
Unfortunately, she has no choice but to rely on Mitch, and as they race to save Jonah, they discover that both their lives have been found wanting.
Detective Mitch Kane is hired by millionaire Layton Keller to find the son he's never known and the woman who took the boy fourteen years ago. But when Mitch finds them, he discovers that Alaina Chancellor isn't anything like he expected. Before he knows, it, he's protecting her from determined hit men and trying to help her get her son back.
Alaina was raped by her sister's fiancé, but no one in her family believed her. The boy's father wanted the boy to kill him so he could get all the money his father-in-law left, not only to him, but to his son, Alina's child and Alina's sister, his wife.
This contemporary suspense story has it all. Alaina Chancellor and her son Jonah have been on the run for years. Betrayed by her family because of their feelings for her father's protege and golden boy, Layton Keller, Alaina has made it her mission in life to protect her son. No matter what happens.
Then the day finally arrives when everything catches up to her. Mitch Kane, a detective hired by Layton, discovers where she is living and takes her into his custody. But not before her son is kidnapped. And the race is on.
The twists and turns in addition to the action keep you involved inclusively. The laundry went to the wayside, dirty dishes sat in the sink and sleep suddenly became less important while I read this book.
Mitch and Alaina start out on opposite ends. The heroine is not afraid of physical confrontation to get away. More than once she gives Mitch a run for his money. Literally.
The detective realizes that he must trust his gut because not everything is as simple as his employer has let on. Over a matter of a few weeks Mitch and Alaina's relationship goes from cold to hot. They each let their barriers down. What was once only Alaina's problem now becomes Mitch's number one priority: to save Jonah and take Layton down.
The chemistry between the two leading characters is steamy. The mystery of Layton's plans intrigued me. When I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I found out I was wrong. If you are going to read this book, plan for an uninterrupted time of day so you can devote it to this delicious suspenseful romance.
Found Wanting by Joyce Lamb. This was a completely engrossing suspense from start to finish. Alaina Chancellor has been running from the man who fathered her child 14 years ago. As the book starts she finds out the FBI has found her and she makes a run for it to get to her son and get away. What she doesn’t know is a man, Mitch Lane, which her son’s father hired has been watching her for weeks and has every intention of taking the boy back to him. Insert craziness from here on. She is hit by a car, her son is taken, Mitch takes her into custody not believing her lies when she tried to tell him his employer is not who he thinks he is. As the story progresses we find out the truth and the amount of betrayal by so many people is staggering. Mitch’s character goes through quite the transformation from who he was in the beginning as he is a very bitter and emotionally shut off man due to betrayals of his own. Really liked this one..
mother had hired a private investigator to find her. Layton her sisters husband comes in and now she has to leave. Layton tries to attack her and her mother hit him on the head with a frying pan. Five years later Alaina and her best friend Rachel wanted her dating. The FBI was in the building, she had to run, she did and got hit by a car, she asked the man who came to her to help her. His name was Mitch and he was hired by Layton to find her, why did he feel things aren't what they seem? This was a great book. I read it on kindle and I hadn't seen the cover. I don't know if I would have bought it, but now I know the book was great and not to go by the cover. You won't be disappointed in this book.
Fast-paced book! So fast, actually, that I thought it was going to be over well before it actually was. Does that make sense?
One thing I found interesting is that the the hero and heroine both react naturally to injuries they receive. So often someone takes a licking and keeps on ticking - even when they should have been unconscious well before the end of a fight. It added some nice realism to the story.
The worst part? The teaser at the end for Lamb's next story, because NOW I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THERE, TOO!!!
Alaina has been on the run for 14 years with her son. Mitch is the detective sent to find her and bring her to her brother in law Layton. Layton raped her when she was 18 and convinced her family she seduced him. Now Layton has kidnapped her son and the FBI, Mitch, and thugs are hunting her. But when Mitch realizes that Alaina is not the person Layton made her out to be, he falls for her. He must protect her and help her get her son back. I LOVED this story!!! It had been from beginning to the end.
Alaina and her son Jonah are constantly on the run from Keller, a dangerous man of influence who raped her at age 18 and is the father of her son. Keller hires Mitch to follow the woman who "kidnapped his child." Mitch soon finds himself feeling more sympathetic with Alaina than his employer. Alaina and Mitch are super likeable and the story's fast-paced. Twists and turns keep you reading...I stayed up much too late finishing this...
This was truely the best book I've read in a long time. I don't usually write reviews, and I'm not going to write one now.... but if you want to read a great book, with suspense, romance, mystery, and more, please read,"Found Wanting". It will keep you wanting more...Can't wait for her next book.
Alainas' character was strong, lovely and very motherly. I've known mothers like that and had my admiration and respect. Mitch was the stone head that didn't want to see. Her sister story was very sad, but there's still a chance.
Absolutely loved it! In the midst of danger and suspense, an unexpected romance blossoms. Excellent storyline and great characters makes this a hard book to put down. Highly recommend it totally worth it. New fan of Joyce Lamb!
