The Devil's Dance

Rate this book
Cherry Clark is a spoiled brat, unappreciative of the good fortune she's experienced throughout her life. She is also a solitary sex addict, experiencing her vicarious desires through her imagination and Internet porn. Her closet desire to be a submissive is shrouded in fear; and her mouthy attitude only gets her into trouble. One night after work, she finds a flier stuck to her car, advertising a mysterious club, Sheol's Fringe. Her interest is aroused, she decides to go, unaware that her life is about to change forever.

Sameal, the hot looking bartender and Sheol's owner, is also a "devil", and a member of the Board of Directors for Devil Corp, an organization that brokers in human pleasures through the use of a 'Dream Journal' service. The journal itself allows the user to experience whatever fantasy they write about while in a sleep-like trance. Sameal gives her a dream journal of her own, through which Cherry lives out her deepest and darkest fantasies. Her desires take some shocking twists. Even more frightening, they tend to manifest themselves in unusual physically forms. She's a rare breed, able to immerse herself in fantasy to the point of changing her own reality. From scenes as a sexy "puppy" to a down-on-her-luck white-trash whore who gets used hard, the shallow young woman is soon to discover that despite her open resistance, she has a strong desire to submit.

As her relationship with Sameal deepens, she becomes his. It's under his stern hand that she discovers the joy of being spanked and punished, as her bratty side is paddled into submission for the first time in her life. However, Cherry still wars with her submissive self. And when she decides she wants her freedom, Sameal grants her request. But without his ownership and guidance, she feels empty; and now she's fair game for other members of the club, who have their own designs on the sexy Cherry. Some painful lessons await her as she attempts to navigate her elusive quest for sexual gratification without the powerful Sameal. Can Cherry live without him? Will she find her way back? Or will there be a new master ready to take this needy submissive in hand?

First ill say this book really got my juices flowing, this was a very different read for me but I was not disapointed in the least!!

I was drawn in from the very beginning and couldnt stop till I was finished.

I can relate to Cherry's character for the most part and I think thats why I enjoyed this book so much!

The story-line it self was amazing then you have all these hot ass sex scenes that just tops it off!

I say its a must read for those who enjoy BDSM and darker reads!

I really enjoyed this one. Since it is very heavy in the humiliation area that surprises me more than a little. It could be that I'm becoming more understanding of the need some people have for humiliation in spite of the fact it's not something for me in my kink.

The writing is strong. Some editing/grammar errors here and there but nothing that pulled me out of the story. I thought it was intriguing - something new and fresh. In a really overplayed sub genre (paranormal) of erotica/erotic romance that's tough to do so kudos to the author. I didn't care for the characters much - to be honest Cherry seemed like she was pulled straight out of a porn movie. A snotty, conceited sex maniac obsessed with her next orgasm. OK. Sameal was more interesting because he seemed more layered, less stereotypical. All the other side characters played their role but none really stands out. Here it is the story and the plot that did it for me and most especially the scenes..though the first set with the dream journal not so much. I gotta hand it to Johnny - because I typically need to relate to characters or at least empathize with them to enjoy the story. Neither happened here and I still enjoyed the heck out of it (though I did subtract one star for this - it was not more impactful than that).

The sex was hot, the impact scenes were hot, the fisting scene was hot. Sizzle. Wowza.

As for the humiliation I think my problem with it or perhaps it is more accurate to say I just don't understand is that I don't feel like wanting someone to control me makes me a whore or that I have to be a whore to like it. Does that make sense? You can sub any word you like for the whore (slut, slave, etc, etc, etc.). In a way I feel like that is inauthentic to who I am. Like I have to "be" somebody I'm not in order to justify liking something.

Though I'm primarily masochist I don't feel any need or want to have a label such as "pain slut" attached to me. Especially words that convey a more negative meaning. Yes Yes I know many will jump on this and say "well when my master calls me a X it is a term of endearment"...all right if that's your kink it's cool with me. But the semantics of the word cannot really be denied though you can self label as you like and interpret as you will. I'm just o.k. with saying I'm a masochist who enjoys what is probably a moderate level of pain in play and sex. This is only important in so much as this book has a very heavy focus on this sort of thing (slut, whore, words used to humiliate) and it's pretty remarkable that I still enjoyed it so much since when those words come up, especially as they are seldom used as a term of endearment, it normally pulls me out of a story and makes me really dislike the character who uses them. The cool thing here is that I didn't really like any of the characters so, in effect, that didn't hinder the enjoyment.

This might be the strangest review I've written but I felt like the book deserved an explanation of what I thought since I rated it as I did. Nicely done! I'll be going on to read other books by Johnny!

I like a book that surprises me. This one did.
I wasn't expecting the paranormal element in the story, and I have to admit that loved it, since it is my other favorite genre on top of erotica, that was the element of surprise for me.... sex with a devil ..uhmm

I like a book that makes me feel different things...and this one did....
I was aroused at times, and very scared at others...

Now I don't want to give too much away, so I would just say that although the premise of female character trying to explore the submissive side of her sexual fantasies in real life, is common on erotica/BDSM books, the way this story was interwoven was very clever I thought, because the paranormal aspect of the story allowed for the most extreme fantasies of the character to be lived, and I suppose I should say this now, those were of very extreme content at times, and elements of extreme degradation, sexual and otherwise, but parallel to this the story allows the character to develop strong feelings of, ultimately, love for the other main character in the story, and the end is tinted with just the right amount of humour to balance the most extreme previous moments of the story, and at least for me, personally, I can only relate if the dom/sub relation is based on love, and here it was....

Highly recommend it, although be aware of scenes of extreme content.

The Devil's Dance was a dance through the wild side for me. I've not read anything quite like this before. Erotica, Paranormal, and BDSM, all mixed into one attention-grabbing, hard-to-put-down, book.

The fantastical elements come fast and furious, the characters come to life completely, and each is introduced with the utmost care in their own time. You are wholly introduced to characters and you come to either love or hate them, there is no "middle" ground. The author conveys a sense of legitimacy to each person in his story even when he is taking you for a trip to Hell.

Be warned, the subject matter, at times, can be quite disturbing and is not for the casual new-to-erotica reader. This book lends itself to the darker side of the BDSM genre including hardcore fantasies and intense sex, W/S, bukake, discipline, fisting, etc. But this book in not just about kinky sex, or seeing how "excited" you can get reading about kinky sex, it's much more than that. There is a genuine story first and foremost throughout the book. As I mentioned, the characters really do come to life and you really do feel for the main character, Cherry.

Any book that I start at 8:30 in the evening and stay up till 2:15 in the morning to finish must get a 5 star!

I couldn't put this book down! I was captivated from the very start. The concept was unlike anything I've read before and I find myself wondering if we will see more of the corporation.
I really liked the different sex scenes, with that journal the scenerios are endless. I liked that those scenes had some twists and turns in them. I liked the surprises there!

Great story! I can't wait to read more!

The Devil's Dance is a dark, twisting story of submission intertwined with paranormal elements. Sameal is a 'devil' who brokers in human pleasure. He gets more than he bargained for when he takes on Cherry, a spoiled young woman with an addiction to sex. With Sameal's help, Cherry explores the darker side of her fantasies and the two begin to form an unbreakable bond.

This story is full of kink, fetishes, and hot sex with darker aspects, but it all ties up nicely in the end. Another interesting and naughty tale from Johnny Stone....He never disappoints :)

Finally a book that didn't give me the vague sense that I'd read this story before.
The book's concept was interesting and original with unexpected twists, and even a trip into Hell.
The sex scenes were completely different from the mainstream bdsm fare of spankng and light bondage and included some more extreme and fetish elements.
I'll definitely read this author again.

Once again Stone delivers a tale that does not fail to captivate, excite, and entrap the reader in his artfully constructed fantasy world. Everything about this book piqued my curiosity, from the allure of the title, to the beauty in the cover image, and a blurb that promises a story that will entice.

How many of us have ever felt like we were unable to voice our fantasies let alone make them a reality? It is a story that allows us to live vicariously through the characters, imagining that we are the ones fulfilling our wildest fantasies. While the story provides us with the opportunity to explore our darkest and most intimate desires, it also cautions us to be careful of what we wish for and to always be truthful to ourselves. It will make you re-evaluate your current situation, teach you to not take things for granted but also give you a little push to be courageous enough to go in search of what you truly want.

I have never read a book quite like it. While it is an erotic story that features a lot of kink and has a paranormal element, it is a far cry from the repetitive storylines that currently saturate the market. I wish I could say The Devil's Dance left me happy and satiated, instead it has left me frustrated and hungry for more. I am definitely ready and eager to devour more of Stone’s work.

I really enjoyed this book to my suprise. At times I cringed (especially during the scene wit Nakamura San), however I also laughed and got really turned on. This type of BDSM is most asuradely out of my comfort zone. I found the writing exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed the plot and romantic nature of the book. I will definately continue to read the rest of Johnny Stone's works. Thank you Johnny for producing a quality BDSM read! I am so tired of the cheesy erotic stories I've read lately.

I enjoyed this book as a one off read, hence the 2 stars on my rating scale.

I liked the BDSM aspects but probably would of really liked without the paranormal. I like my BDSM straight up, on the dark side if poss, which this had but without other genre frills but despite that I will pick up another by this author.

I really enjoyed this book as it was so different. I actually couldn't put it down, I would have given it 5* but I got annoyed with the typos. Not too many but enough for me to think AGAIN! Simple things like MY instead of BY. But as for the story and the plot fantastic and I will be downloading more by Johnny Stone. It was like a breath of Kinky fresh air.

Captivating mix of erotic bdsm and paranormal - in which the central character's fantasies provide a way for her to explore her own nature and desires ... (along with my own comfort levels)

And I second Miss Asima's comments about the editing issues which kept distracting me from the story.

Wow! I ran the whole gambit of emotions with this one. Sobbing in the aftermath of Cherry helping her company. Her journey of finding herself is a hard one, but she gets there and its kind of beautiful. I'm happy with the ending too:)

First, let me say that I would gladly rate this book as a 4+ if someone could PLEASE fix all the spelling errors and past/present tense sentences in this book. It has clearly not been sent to a professional editor, but that's no excuse. The author could at least have made his wife, friends, a child still in elementary school, or even a foreigner like myself, read through the manuscript first, because this was just.so.embarrassing. I would expect a native English writer to know the difference between the/thee, fair/fare, message/massage and all the other typos this book was full of.
And not only that, I would also expect him to remember that his heroine was originally 26 years old, and then 28 only one chapter later.

Nevertheless, the story was highly enjoyable, and I enjoyed the paranormal elements. Cringeworthy sex fantasies that were not to my specific tastes, but still really well written. And Sameal's and Cherry's dysfunctional, or rather, devilishly functional relationship really works. Sameal is very true to his devil nature, but still has a teensy bit of pre-fallen angel attitude towards Cherry the first time around. Luckily for him, that changes along the way, though. The ending was fitting as well.

So in sum: Enjoyed Sameal's and Cherry's little HEA, hated the sloppy writing. Remember, the devil is in the editing details...

If you like this book you may enjoy the BDSM Group

I LOVED this book. 'The Devil's Dance' is an original one of a kind idea. Or at least it is among my shelves and I read a lot! This book isn't just smut either. We have an actual story here folks! Granted the story line involves sex addiction and fullfilling fantasies but it's there and it's unique, entertaining, and sexy. How can sex with a devil not be steamy?
This story does contain some extreme content such as gang bang, fisting, watersports, bukakke etc. I personally have no issuess with such content. In comparison to other books I've read with similar content it's done very tastefully. But fair warning to those who don't enjoy this. :) I however, will be returning to certain parts of this book on a regular basis. ;)

If it wasn't for the repeated editing errors I'd give 'TDD' 5 stars. Such as the word bare is spelled bear more than once. Sometimes there are duplicate words. And there are more question marks at the end of statements than I can count. But if I'm rating it on story alone it's definitly 5 stars for me. Enjoy!

It took me a while to really get into this book. There were many grammatical and punctuation errors that got really old really fast - question marks a plenty and missing commas. Lastly the leading female and I were not seeing eye to eye for most of the book.

But! There is a flip side! This was a really unique plot that I enjoyed. It wasn't over done like typical BDSM romance novels. There was romance but not gushing with undying love at the end. Cherry seemed like a bottomless pit of depraved kinks and for some reason I enjoyed myself cringing at some of the things done to her - maybe because I didn't like her so much. And the overall writing was good.

With some improvements I could easily give this 5 stars.

Imagine walking down a countrylane, it gradually becomes darker and then out of nowhere you are hit by a car... you didn't see it coming. Well that is what johnny stone does with this story because no matter what happens to Cherry you think it's OK, its what she wants, It's just her fantasies... and then Johnny Stone hits you (metaphorically speaking). Cherry's reality becomes more sinister and darker than any of her imaginings. However she emerges far more aware of her desires and needs which actually make her stronger and more aware of the needs and desires of others. So if you like your BDSM stories dark with a dose of the paranormal thrown in and feel a strong sense of satisfaction when people get what they deserve then this is definitely the book for you.

Not for the faint of heart.
I want one of those journals!
Enjoyed the mixing of the fantasy paranormal with D/s theme, wasn't so comfortable with the dark appetites of Cherry, there are a few excerpts that made me balk, wouldn't want that kind of burden ever!
You can't help but love the devilish, sadistic Sameal.
Loved the paranormal premise and dream beach scene, I found it a contradiction in itself with the very dark aspects, peppered with lots of humor and even romance, but it works.

That was awesome!
No idea what to expect, but this was a thrilling, dark, exciting ride that had so many different twists and kept me turning page after to page to see what was going happen next
Some pretty dark images and storyline, but man oh man, if you're okay with that, you shall be completely entertained through all the moments that make you squirm, laugh and root for our heroine
I especially liked the monologue at the end of the story. I normally wouldn't, but it fit so perfectly with the way the story developed, it was the perfect ending!

Not for the faint of heart! A story that will push your comfortability level, but awakens dark desires. I loved the characters and I thought the paranormal twist of the book is what really made the story work. GREAT READ!!! I am upset that I kept this book in my TBR list for so long!
