** LISTEN TO AUDIO BOOK**

I am not a big audiobook person. I love the feel of a book the weight, the paper pages, turning them and feeling accomplished with every page I turn. I’m not completely against audio, I think there is definitely a time and place that they are awesome, like a long road trip. was not going to read this book, after seeing Jeanette do several interviews. I really didn’t have an interest in it. Then my son told me “you need to listen to this book on audio Mom. I think you will understand it a little better by hearing her read her story to you.” He was absolutely right!

There’s no doubt that she, like so many other child stars, was forced to do something without ever being asked if it was what she wanted to do. Her relationship with her mom is sweet, because she wants to please her mom and she loves her. It’s also horrifying because her mother ingrained so many unhealthy things in that poor little girl.

I also survived a mother that I felt responsible for pleasing, for being her happiness because she seemed to have none. It is a heavy burden. Codependence is not a great thing to live with. Listening to Jeanette read her story in a very monotone blasé way made me sad for her. She read with such blandness, very little feeling, which matched perfectly with the words she had written.

I hope that writing the book was cathartic for her. I hope that one day she can find peace with everything, and that she will be able to be very proud of the work she did on her TV shows. “Cheesy tween“ is what that network does, and she excelled at it. That’s not a bad thing, it is a real gift to be able to make people laugh, and my family, Hubby, Me, and 3 kids, sometimes with several neighborhood kids, would sit together and enjoy the antics of Carly, Sam, Freddy, and Spencer in all their cheesiness, laughing and bonding. Jeanette, thank you for being a part of the bond I have with my boys. It’s priceless.

I had no idea, this audiobook was based on a real story until through the halfway, where they mentioned Ariana Grande. I was like,"wait is this real?" Then I searched online for the show name, and found out all about the abuse. Heavy listen tbh.

Like most young famous celeberites they all had to have started from somewhere. Jennette McCurdy, was exposed to the industry at a very young age, more often than not this ends up creating major problems for these young actors and actresses as they keep moving forward in the industry. We have witnessed this many times before with other young actors and actresses before, such as Macaulay Culkin (aka Kevin McCallister) who was the lead role for the Home Alone Movie series, who ended up having severe psychology problems. As Jennette McCurdy entered the challenging terrain of her Mother's rain of terror weighing above her like car dangling over her head. This book deserves more credit and recognition than it is given.

I read the whole book, and since then, I have started getting so much content all over social media about how Nickelodeon has been exploiting its employees. The book has some trigger warnings since they describe in detail the mental and physical suffering that a person can go through. I hope the author is doing better now, and hoping for more people who worked under Nickelodeon to share their story.

I heard this book as an audiobook, and I had my journey with the writer; the way she approached her life story was worth respecting, and I felt connected to her struggle
The end was hard to accept but understandable

This book was extremely well written and the author Jeanette very honest with herself in her readers it’s true just because you’re a mother doesn’t make you a good person, but Jeanette is a good example of how you can overcome adversity

I know how she feels when your Mom don't see you as a equal but favor your sister and your cousin and treat you like shit. I wish I never had a Mom . She treated me bad all of my life. I don't get along with her and my sister . But she always put my cousin First. This book I can relate .
