Keeping a family promise can be the beginning of a whole new life for everyone in town.

Danielle “Dani” Gilford eagerly accepts her share of the gift of a cottage on the property of the Lilac Lake Inn in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Her grandmother, Gigi, has decided to sell the inn after realizing it’s too difficult to run as she ages and with rising taxes. Dani and her two sisters, Whitney and Taylor, must renovate and maintain the cottage and live there at least six months of each year, as a means of helping Gigi keep a vow to hold onto as much of the family property as possible.

The first person that Dani meets when she returns to the lake is Brad Collister, who, with his brother, has been hired to renovate the inn for the new owners.

His brother, Aaron, is as attractive as Brad, but life with the brothers is complicated. Brad is still grieving for his wife, who died two years ago from cancer and Aaron’s interest lies with the business.

And after working in Boston at an architectural design firm where the men in the office do everything they can to keep her from getting recognition for the work she does, the last thing Dani is looking for is a man.

But the little town of Lilac Lake is full of interesting people, and surprises await Dani as she and her sisters work together to keep a promise to their grandmother, and Dani discovers new possibilities for herself about life and love.

Love by Design in an interesting book as a beginner for a new series, as it sets the scene for what is to follow; in this case it is a story of three sisters who have been gifted a legacy of a Cottage located on the property of Lilac Lake Inn; a property once owned by their Grandmother, but now sold to new owners.
Dani, an Architect, her sister Whitney, an actress and Taylor a writer come together to spend a weekend with their grandmother to find out what this rather unusual gift means, or more interestingly, why she has chosen to sell off the Inn yet keep the Cottage.
Dani has never been recognised in the firm she works for, often sidelined for the more interesting work, Whitney is going through a serious break-up with former partner and co-star and Taylor is really suffering from writer’s block. Each one hopes that Lilac Lake will offer them the peace they so desperately need, while they try to honour the wishes of the grandmother.
Brad Collister and his brother Aaron own the construction company renovating the Inn. They are also the Company chosen to work on the Cottage, should the sisters agreed to keeping the old Cottage, which is supposedly haunted.
Dani is not looking for a new relationship and Brad is still mourning the loss of his wife to cancer; the last thing either of them want is another relationship but sparks are slowly fanned from their first meeting and a gentle romance begins to blossom.
Charming in a somewhat older style of romance, Love By Design has a good if somewhat standard storyline, which at times is muddled and repetitious, interesting women in that they are women who know what they want and a ghost to add a sparkle to the romance of Dani and Brad.
For lovers of romance that is an easy, comfortable and familiar read, Love By Design fits in nicely.

Great book

The first book in a series is always the one that will tell you if you want to keep reading them. This book did not disappoint. The changing lives of all the characters keeps you reading and wanting to know more. And a little bit of mystery along the way doesn't hurt either. We know how Dani's life turned out, now we get to know how Taylor and Whitney's life continues on in the other books

I received this book as an ARC. Thank you to the author. This is the first of a series. I usually don’t read this kind of book however it was good for a change. It read like a hallmark movie. I probably will read the others in this series. It was a cute book, the first of a new series which I can’t wait to read more.

If you like those, you’ll love this book.

Love By Design is the first book in Judith Keim’s Lilac Lake Inn series. While the storyline is not original, the way it plays out is. Octogenarian Eugenia “Genie” Wittner, or GG as her granddaughters call her, has had the misfortune of relying on a cheating financial planner, leaving the once very wealthy widow comfortable only after selling the family’s inn and most of its acreage, keeping only the deserted caretakers cottage and a few acres for her granddaughters with the caveat from the buyers that if the cottage is vacant they will have the right to purchase that as well at fair market value. While Genie has established herself in a new senior living home, it is her intent to have the cottage renovated for her girls, but it is up to them to fulfill the rest of the deal keeping the home occupied most of the time.

Genie’s granddaughters are all coming to Lilac Lake at her request. First to arrive is Dani Gilford, middle girl and accomplished architect who is fighting the old boy network at her firm to get ahead. When she arrives at the inn from her Boston condo she is redirected to the Lilac Lake B&B by contractor Brad Collister, where Dani finds her sister Whitney. Whitney, the eldest, has done well for herself in Hollywood where she is part of an ensemble cast on a popular series. However, Whitney has also suffered at the flash of the paparazzi after the public break up between her and her onscreen/offscreen love. Whitney is seeking the solace and anonymity this small town should bring. Last to arrive from NYC is baby sister Taylor, their half sister in actuality but their stepfather Gavin Gilford adopted both Whitney and Dani as soon as he married their mother, Laura. The parents now live in Atlanta.

As the sisters become involved in the renovation they encounter an entity at the home that can be benevolent or not so much. None of the sisters are currently comfortable being at the cottage alone, but Taylor is the most hesitant. As Dani draws up the plans, and her sisters agree, she is working ever more closely with Brad Collister. While their is interest by Dani for perhaps something more, she is understanding that Brad is still mourning the wife he lost a few years ago. As their relationship grows, other impediments from his wife’s family appear.

Meanwhile, Dani is contacted by her former employer to come back for a particular client who will work with no one else. Her brief time back in Boston to address this offer only solidifies her intent to stay in Lilac Lake.

This is another enjoyable read by Ms. Keim. She spins these stories like no other to create relatable characters in various situations. This particular series is not quite like her others as it addresses other worldly items, bringing about a unique spin. I did enjoy this story and look forward to the ones to come in the series. I do recommend this book

Grandma Needs Them … and life will never be the same

I knew right away I was going to love this new series. It’s about a loving grandmother named GG who wants to fulfill her father’s wish of maintaining the family legacy. As she ages and in poor health, her only hope was with her three granddaughters, all successful in their own right and all love and adore GG. The timing couldn’t be better as all three need a fresh start and all three want to help.

Nothing in life is perfect and all three granddaughters had trouble brewing … Dani, being the only woman architect in her office, was very talented but also very underrated. Whitney, a popular actress just went through a bad breakup with her co-star and the paparazzi was everywhere she turned. As for Taylor, she was the insecure, shy one of the three. She was laid back and stayed out of the public eye by writing romance novels, very popular romance books. Few people know her as the author as she uses a pen name. Now that old enemy called ‘writer’s block’ is knocking.

Although we get a good understanding of what’s going on with GG and her granddaughters, this book goes into more detail with Dani. We see how unappreciated she was at her architect firm and how she is underrated and dismissed so easily. So, when GG needs her help, Dani calls it quits at work and heads to Lilac Lake to help GG. However, I must say It was nice seeing Auntie Karma visit that old workplace of Dani’s. Come to find out, they really need her and have to pay up. Ahhh, but the best part of the book is about Dani and Brad. Yes, they fall in love but it’s not an easy path to walk. It’s sad at times but also promising.

As for Whitney and Taylor, I’m looking forward to see how they deal with all their issues. In my mind, Taylor writes a best selling series and movie producers will want it…. Of course, Whitney will have to have the starring role. Oh well, I can imagine can’t I? LOL… I even have my imagination rolling with what men they end up with.

And there’s a couple mysteries brewing too. What or WHO is the ghost? Surely we don’t believe in ghosts, do we? Does it have anything to do with Mrs. Maynard? What happened to Rita, her daughter… and who is little Isaac? Hmmm, curious minds want to know.

Judith Keim has done it again! A brand-new series with wonderful characters I would love to meet, in a setting I wish I could move to! The small town of Lilac Lake in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire is just such a place!

Danielle “Dani” Gilford (an architect), and her sisters Whitney (a famous actress) and Taylor (a successful author) are invited to Lilac Lake by their 82-year-old grandmother they lovingly called GG. GG (Eugenia “Genie” Wittner) has not told her family, but she had to sell Lilac Lake Inn because she was no longer able to run the Inn as well as maintain the property. It was just too much both physically and financially for one elderly woman to handle.

Genie had to sell off the Inn and most of the land, although she did retain a small portion of the 10-acre tract which included the caretaker’s cottage. Rumor has it that the cottage is haunted. Will they be able to find out what is going on in the house, or is it truly haunted? The girls will have plenty of tjme to figure it out, since part of the bargain for the family to maintain a portion of the property, is that the house will have to inhabited 6 months out of each year.

She knew her daughter would only try to convince her to move home, but her granddaughters just might embrace her wishes and be able to carry on the family legacy which was to keep the property in the family. With the help of brothers Brad and Aaron Collister, the contractors hired to renovate the Inn, they embark on remodeling their cottage.

Each of the sisters is struggling with their own problems in their lives. Love by Design focuses on Dani and her struggle to make a name for herself outside of the architectural firm she works for. It’s an all-male office where the men seem to get all the credit and Dani’s hard work is overlooked or the credit given to someone else. Will she find peace and happiness and the recognition she deserves?

Since I am not one to retell the story, or give spoilers, I will leave it there. As with all of Judith Keim’s books this newest one did not disappoint, If you love small towns, dogs (Pirate and Mindy), a bit of mystery, and sweet romance you are going to love this one too!

This book is about starting anew, reconnecting with family, and learning to open your heart and mind to new possibilities. Three sisters are asked by their grandmother (GG) to return to Lilac Lake to help her keep her promise to her father. GG, for a variety of reasons, has already sold the family inn and a good bit of land around it, but the rest of the land and the cottage on it must be looked after in order for it to remain a part of the family legacy. The cottage needs to be renovated and also inhabited for at least six months out of the year or it and the remaining land will be sold to the new owners if the inn. At this moment in time, each of the three sisters is ready for a reset, a new start and some self-reflection and growth. This book focuses more on the middle sister Danielle (Dani) though it also gives some insight into what is going on in the lives of her sister.

Dani is tired of being undervalued and overlooked at the architectural firm where she works. GG’s request comes just as she has had enough discrimination at work and spurs her to leave her job and return to Lilac Lake to handle the renovation of the cottage. She never expected to find so many reasons to stay in Lilac Lake. Working on the cottage which may or may not be haunted, spending quality time with her sisters, finding and enjoying community and maybe Dani finding something that has eluded her in the past….love. Brad owns a construction firm with his brother. He is widowed and not looking for any romance or relationship, much to the chagrin of the towns single ladies. He and Dani form a friendship based on mutual respect and admiration that she hopes will evolve into something more. But is he ready to open his heart again? Is he even interested in her romantically?

The characters and storyline of this book easily held my attention and made me unable to put this book aside until I had finished the last page. I eagerly await the next books to find out more about all three sisters and the mystery that they are trying to solve. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This is the first book of this series so there is a lot to set up. Three sisters are moving to Lilac Lake to an inherited a house. There is one catch someone must live in the house at least six months out of the year or the ownership will revert to the new owners. Whitney, Taylor and Danielle, Dani, Gilford. All live pretty separate lives but all of them are in need of a break. Whitney is an actress who is in the middle of a messy breakup and ready to come to Lilac Lake to get away from Hollywood. Taylor is a writer of romance novels. She is needing some inspiration. Dani is feeling underappreciated at her architectural firm. Renovating this house for them will be good break and allow her to focus on this project.

GG had everything set up for the girls to take over. Including the construction company. Brad and Aaron Collister run the construction company that is working on renovating the Inn. They are ready to work with Dani on the new plans for the girls' house. Dani and Brad work closely together and after Whitney and Dani get two rambunctious dogs, the girls decide to rent a house. That makes them Brad's neighbors.

Brad is a widow and the women in town feel like it is time for him to start dating again. He and Dani strike up an easy friendship. Dani listens to him and allows him to talk about his wife. Dani seems to get under his skin like no woman has. Though he wants her, there are still several women that are ready to lay claim to him and refuse to let Dani deter them. Can these two fight through the mess to see if they can grow into something?

I forgot to mention. The house that they are moving to might be haunted. I'm not saying if I believe it is or not. Some weird things have been happening. If there is a ghost there, it seems to like Dani and Brad together. I think I will really enjoy this series. I can't wait to read the next book.

Wow what a wonderful and heartwarming story!
Absolutely loved it.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I seriously hope it won't be my last. Judith Keim knows how to bring a reader a heartwarming story about legacy and family. The story pulled me in from the very first chapter.

Gigi, the grandmother of 3 very different sisters, has decided to sell the inn on Lilac Lake, somewhere in New Hampshire, that has been in the family for generations. But she doesn't sell all of the property she keeps the cabin not too far from the inn for her granddaughters. Dani, is an architect from Boston, Whitney, the actress from Los Angeles, and Taylor, the romance author, who likes her privacy have to spend 6 months of the year, not altogether, in the cabin so that it is kept in the family. If they don't, they lose the property to the new owners of the inn. Nothing like putting pressure on the 3 girls but they decide to fix the cabin up, oh yeah did I mention it might be haunted? It's going to be a lot of work to get the cabin up to standards that the granddaughters can live in it. But Gigi knows her granddaughters and that they will make sure the cabin stays in the family.
Love by Design is mostly Dani's story. Dani isn't happy at her job in Boston. The architecture firm is dismissing her and one of the staff is undermining her. Will Dani quit and spend her time in New Hampshire remodeling the cottage. Will Dani find a love interest while she is planning out how to redesign the cottage? I loved Dani's story and hopefully you will as well.
The characters are wonderful and everyday people. That is what makes the story so good and you fall in love with it and the characters. I can't wait to read Whitney's and Taylor's stories.

Highly recommend!

Judith Keim writes heart-warming novels about women who face unexpected challenges, meet them with strength, and find love and happiness along the way, stories with heart. She is a go-to author for me when I want a book with interesting characters and a heartwarming story.

Gigi has decided to sell the Lilac Lake Inn when she realizes that it's too big of a job for her to keep running at her age. She decides to have her granddaughters visit so that she can tell them about the sale and to gift them a cottage near the inn. The cottage needs to be renovated and must be occupied by one of them for half of each year. If no one lives there for the 6 months of each year, the property and cottage will be given to the people who bought the Inn.

Book 1 in the series is Dani's story,. She has been working as an architect in a large firm in Boston and has been treated badly by the men in the office who work to make sure that she doesn't get credit for any of her work. She's pretty tired of the treatment at her firm so she jumps at the chance to move to Lilac Lake and lead the renovation project on the cottage. The first person she meets is Brad who is working with his brother to renovate the Inn. He isn't really interested in a romance because he's still grieving his wife who died several years ago. And after her treatment by the men in her office, she certainly isn't interested. But the more time they spend together, the more sparks that fly and they decide that they may both be ready for love again.

This is a great book about family and love with a bit of romance and maybe a ghost! I can't wait to read the next book in the series and find out more about one of the other sisters and the people who live in Lilac Lake.

Dani Guilford worries about her job on her way to Lilac Lake at her grandmother's request. Her grandmother, GG, knows Dani's frustration with her job at a big architect firm in Boston. The only woman, she has been passed over for the big jobs, the ones that would bring her a name in architecture. Not only that but her rival has convinced the partners that her work was his!
When Dani arrives in lilac Lake, she's surprised to find her two sisters are there too, invited by GG. GG has sold the Lilac Inn she has run for years, because it was too much for her to handle.
She has kept the caretakers cottage aside with the condition that it will be inhabited at least six months of the year. Otherwise it goes back to the property of the new owners of the Inn.
GG gifts the cottage to the three girls who had spent summers in Lilac Lake. Dani is thrilled to be designing the changes to the cottage so as to accommodate the sister's different needs. GG has hired a local company as general contractors, Composted Brothers. Dani works closely with Brad Collister on the cottage. She can't help but notice hoe good looking he is and affirming of her. However, Brad is still grieving his wife who died of cancer two years ago. He is only looking for a friend. Dani determined that her feelings for him, would be that of a friend.
But as time goes on feelings change. Then the problem of Joellen, his wife's sister, complicates everything. Joel men is determined that she is going to marry Brad -her sister would want that! How will things work out in the end for Dani, Brad and Joellen?
It is a well written story, with good descriptions, character development and plot line.

LOVE BY DESIGN is the first book in the Lilac Lake Inn series and I can't wait to return. We get introduced to a multitude of multigenerational characters whose personalities shined through. There is a richness to the many stories being told and so many connections. I was drawn in immediately from the first page.

There are family and friends and a rich history since the three very different sisters, Dani, Whitney and Taylor, used to summer at the inn with their grandmother when they were children. It was nice to connect with the characters and see their reconnections unfurl. There are some sweet characters and some not so sweet. There is also the potential for a ghost in the cottage now owned by the three sisters that they are renovating.

The story had highs and lows for the three sisters but this is mainly Dani and Brad's story. He's native to the area and his family still lives there. It was heartwarming to see how the sisters interacted with their grandmother and how respected she was in the community.

The story had a good flow and a sweet romance. The story had some closure but I felt the story ended abruptly but it could be since we'll be returning to future books in this series.

Ms. Keim never disappoints and she always writes stories that touch my heart and makes the characters not only come alive but feel like friends or family. Give her books a try if you haven't already especially if you're a fan of books by Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis and other contemporary authors.

I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

I have always enjoyed reading a Judith Keim book and this one is no exception it has me waiting for the next instalment into Lilac Lake with book 2. This is the first of a series about 3 Gilford sisters and their Grandmother GG.

The sister always spent the summer holidays in Lilac Lake Inn on the Lakes Region of New Hampshire with their GG but it's time for GG to sell the Inn. She has kept the family promise to keep some of the land in the family for the generations to come by giving the girls the cottage and some land. But the girls must renovate and live there for at least six months each year to keep the arrangement with the new owners.

Dani is an architect living in Boston.

Whitney the TV star living in LA.

Taylor is a romance author living in New York.

Three strong women all at different places in their lives come together as a family to ignore their GG wishes and possibly change their lives at the same time.
How will find romance first with so many hot and attractive men in this small town to pick from?

This book has everything you need in a great read I recommend this and look forward to learning more about the sisters. Judith Keim writing style always draws you into her story, she gives you a clean story, if that's your style but also with just enough spiciness to keep all types of readers reading to the very last word.

Thank you, Judith Keim & NetGalley for this book that I am giving my voluntary review of after reading this book. I just reviewed Love by Design by Judith Keim. #LovebyDesign #NetGalley

This is book one in The Lilac Lake Inn series and it is Dani and Brad’s story and what a great start to a new series. When Gigi decides to sell Lilac Lake Inn because of her age and the taxes she asks her three granddaughters to help renovate the cottage that is being kept but the only stipulation is that they will have to live there for six months out of the year and because they are all in different stages of their lives and trying to decide what to do next and how to move forward they all agree to what their grandmothers wants. Brad’s wife died years ago and he still feels like he is not ready to move on or into a relationship and while working with his brother to renovate the Inn he meets Dani and offers to help her with the work on the cottage but will this be the push that he needs to be able to take a chance again. Dani and Brad are attracted to each other right from the start and also have a strong connection but neither realise that meeting each other will change both of their lives forever. Judith Keim is one of my favourite authors and her writing style and how she takes her characters and makes them seem so real as if you are there living through everything with them is a sign of great storytelling. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Love by Design begins the Lilac Lake Inn series with a wonderful introduction to all of the characters we’ll meet, as well as to Dani and Brad as their growing friendship turns into something more. I loved the way we are introduced to sisters Whitney, Danielle (Dani), and Taylor as they return to this small town in New Hampshire, at their grandmother’s (GG) request, to discuss a legacy she’s passing on to them. Each of the sisters has reached a point in their lives where a break to rethink and regroup is welcomed. Although we’ll learn more about Whitney’s and Taylor’s lives, it’s Dani and the budding romance with Brad that is the main romantic focus of this story.

I loved everything about this story, but I don’t want to give away too many details that will be more rewarding if you discover them on your own. In all, you’ll find a well-written, charming setting with believable characters facing realistic situations in their lives. Dani and Brad fit so well together and navigate the few bumps in their romance believably. If you love a romance that is engaging, delivers a satisfying story… and maybe a ghost, then Love by Design by Judith Keim would be perfect for you. I loved it, and I plan on binge-reading the next two stories.

Love by Design is a heart-warming novel about women who face unexpected challenges, meet them with strength, and find love and happiness along the way, stories with heart.

Gigi (grandmother to 3 beautiful women) sells the Lilac Lake Inn. She has requested her 3 granddaughters visit so she can tell them about the sale and to gift them the cottage by the Inn. The only problem is the cottage needs renovating and one of the granddaughters or all three must occupy the cottage for 6 months each year or it reverts to the new owners of Lilac Lake Inn.

In Lilac Lake Inn you will get a glance of the lives of all three granddaughters but mostly you read about Dani’s story. Dani is an architect for a large firm in Boston. At the firm she is overlooked for projects because, she feels, it’s a good ole boys club. Dani comes to Lilac Lake Inn and finds the place she was meant to be. Look for romance with one of the construction company owners, Brad.
This is one of the best Judith Keim’s books I have read. I couldn’t put it down.

I was asked by the author to give my unbiased review of Lilac Lake Inn as one of her ARC.

A wonderful start to the Lilac Lake Inn series

Eugenia Wittner (GG to her three granddaughters) has been the innkeeper for her family's lakeside getaway for many years. Now at 82, the responsibilities are a bit too much. GG sells the inn and a portion of the lakeside property to a group of developers who will renovate, refurbish, and run the inn. However, she has retained the rights to the caretaker's cottage and the land it occupies, hoping that her granddaughters will be interested in continuing to keep that property in the family; the caveat is that at least one of them must occupy the cottage for at least 6 months each year.
The three girls - Whitney, a soap actress; Dani, an architect; and Taylor, a romance novelist -decide among themselves that they will make it work, with Dani taking the lead and helping the new group working on the remodel of the inn with the project, while residing in the cottage.
The townspeople welcome them with open arms, and as expected, there is tension and romance, laughter and tears, but getting to know these characters is a fun adventure, and I look forward to the next book in the series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review; this review was not influenced by receiving the ARC.

Changes and challenges!

The three Gilford girls are summoned by their grandmother Genie “GG” Whittier. When they arrive at the family’s Lilac Lake Inn, in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, they are redirected to a retirement home. Rising costs forced GG to sell everything except the caretaker’s cottage which is theirs as long as someone in the family stays there at least six months each year. Dani and her two sisters, Whitney and Taylor, will need to renovate the cottage but GG has already enlisted local contractors to help. This comes at a time when each of the girls needs a change in their lives.

This book sets the stage for a romantic series accompanied by delightful pets. Judith Keim is one of my favorite authors. Her stories always have depth and character. This one was a little stilted at the very beginning but then it took off like a rocket. I’m looking forward to learning more about the cottage's mysterious happenings. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

It was difficult for Gigi to sell the inn that had been in their family for generations, but she was able to retain the family cottage. In order to keep the cottage, Gigi’s three granddaughters must renovate and occupy the cottage for six months out of each year. Her granddaughters Danielle, Whitney and Taylor meet at the lake to discuss their plans. Dani is an architect and as the only woman at the firm, is unhappy with how she is treated. Taylor is a published author needing inspiration for her next book while Whitney, the star of her television show, has issues with her co-star and lover. Dani works closely with Brad and Aaron Collister who own the construction company. An attraction simmers between Dani and Brad although he is still dealing with the death of his wife. While her sisters have their own issues, the story mainly involves the interaction between Brad and Dani. Will Dani remain in Lake Lilac and is Brad read to move on with his life…with Dani? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Dani and her two sisters, Whitney and Taylor, have lives of their own, but when their grandmother decides to sell the Inn, she offers the girls the cottage that sits on the land. They have to renovate the cottage, and live there 6 months out of the year. The girls accepted the gift, and book 1 is Dani's story.
Dani had a successful career in Boston, but she moves back to Lilac Lake to renovate the cottage. The first person she meets is Brad Collister, who along with his brother is renovating the inn for the new owners. He agrees to work with her on the cottage. The two of them have a connection, and work very well together. Their paths have crossed, it seems, for a reason.
As their journeys continue, they learn more about themselves and what they want in life, their visions for the cottage and the inn, comes together, and life on the lake is settling down. My soul connected to this story and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I received an ARC from Judith Keim.

This is a favorite womens fiction writer of mine. This book is the first in a wonderful new series about three sisters and a beachfront cottage left to them by a family member. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. This tells the story of one sister, Dani who has taken on a challenge for six months with her two sisters. They must live in and renovate their Grandmothers home. It is a heartwarming story of strong women taking on life changes and living new lives together that enrich their lives. Dani has a fresh start in life caring for her new home and soon finds a romance she never expected.

This has strong women characters, a atmospheric setting and a wonderful well crafted style of writing. A do not miss summer womens fiction read. Well done to the author.

Dani and her sisters Whitney and Taylor were ready for a change when their grandmother offered them a cottage to fix up as long as they agreed to her stipulations. Dani felt under appreciated and taken advantage up at her job especially by her ex who stole her ideas. She’s given the opportunity to use her architect degree and experience on other things in particular with a new man who interests her, but comes with a lot of baggage. It must have been hard for Brad to lose his wife and have so many women assume he should date them and in the case of his unstable sister in law marry him. She worried me the most since it seems like she’s sticking around and could cause more trouble. Dani and Brad have their share of ups and downs in their budding relationship. I love Dani and Whitney’s rescue dogs.

Judith Keim has given another great start to a new series, The Lilac Lake Inn. This series is going to be fabulous as all of her others have been.
Gigi has three granddaughters she is giving a challenge. Danielle “Dani”. Whitney and Taylor are given the task of renovating and maintaining the cottage on the property since she has decided to sell the inn. By doing this the women will be able to keep as much property in the family as possible.
The connection between the sisters is so heartfelt and touching. Dani is the focus of this first book in the series. We do get a feel about Whitney and Taylor.
I am excited for the next book in the series and want to thank Judith Keim for this new series.
Thank you NetGalley and Wild Quail Publishing for this copy of Love by Design. This is my personal review.

Grandmother Genie has owned the family inn and a small cottage on Lilac Lake until her financial advisor took her money and left. She is forced to sell the inn but is left with the cottage at the end of the property with the caveat that family members must live there at least six months of the year; if not, it would resort to the new buyer. But GG has a plan in mind: her three talented granddaughters are just the answer to this dilemma. Thus begins a delightful new series by Judith Keim and this book primarily centers around Danielle, an architect practicing in Boston. Can an architect find her self worth while working with two brothers who are renovating the inn? Enjoy the atmosphere of a HGTV show with a little romantic twist. Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book; this is my honest review.

Always fun to start a new series and dive right in knowing it's going to be a good one. Three sisters are tasked by their grandmother, beloved GG, to renovate and live in a cottage on the site of the hotel she used to own. Never mind that its supposed to be haunted and indeed strange things seem to happen inside that cottage. The three sisters all have diverse skills and careers and have all met challenges in their work and love lives.

Dani's story is up first and as always Ms Keim weaves a tale of sweet love and happy endings. Its the type of story that is made for reading in a hammock on one of our lovely summer days. Absolutely looking forward to which ever sister has her story told next.

Yay, a new series by Judith Keim!

I can already tell that I’m going to love this series! Set in New Hampshire, at Lilac Lake, we have 3 sisters who come together to restore their GG’s (grandmother) cabin. Along the way, we meet the residents of the small town, and learn the backstories of Dani, Taylor and Whitney Gilford. We also meet Brad and Aaron, co-owners of the local construction company doing the cabin remodel, and their family.

The setting, the people, the chemistry between Dani and Brad is, well, let’s say magical. You’ll understand what I mean by that when you read this special story.

Thanks to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

This is a beautifully written start to The Lilac Lake Inn series. GG asks each of her granddaughters to come to New Hampshire because she has a gift for them, but it requires some love. The family cottage needs some renovations and may or may not be haunted. Each woman, Dani, the architect, Taylor, the author, and Whitney, the actress, has reasons to want to get away from their lives, so GG’s request comes at a great time. If you enjoy small town romances with beautiful descriptions full of amazing friends and family I highly recommend this new series. You’ll be hooked just like I am and be eagerly awaiting book two.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I enjoyed Love By Design very much. It is the first book the The Lilac Lake Inn series. You are introduced to Dani, Whitney and Taylor. Their grandmother GG had to sell the Inn due to being swindled. She saves some land and the cottage. She asks the girls to restore it. Dani is an architect who is not recognized for her work in the firm. Whitney is an actress in a series and is fed up due to her co star. Taylor is a writer who is having writers block. You will meet the people in the community and maybe a ghost who haunts the cottage. This story is more about Dani. I can’t wait for the next one and heir romance story. Thank you to Wild Quail Publishing and NetGalley for he E-Arc. This is my own opinion.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

Gigi is getting older and it is getting harder to hold onto the property that has been in her family forever. She sells the inn and most of the land to a group that wants to renovate it and make it profitable. As part of the sale, she is keeping a small parcel of land and a caretaker's cottage located on the property. As long as one of her granddaughters lives on the property for at least six months of a year, they are able to retain the property. If they fail to do this, then the new owners of the inn can purchase that parcel.

Granddaughter Dani is all in for this agreement. Life at work is not going well, it's a mans world and she is a woman. A coworker is making life uncomfortable to the point where Dani is seriously considering leaving. How serendipitous that this opportunity presents itself.

Like all Judith Keim novels, this one is a joy to read and look forward to the other two installments.
