Little too much listing for my tastes, was looking for something slightly more involved. A resource, but not a great read. The style was too abrupt and did not flow as well as it could.

The intent of the guide is to reintroduce just one of many keys to effective prayer, using scripture to garner the words of God to access divine response and a greater relationship with God the Father, through His Son Jesus Christ, with the enabling assistance of the Holy Spirit.

As we experience various emotions throughout our life experiences there is a “cry” or sound from our spirit that will command or demand a response from something or someone greater than ourselves. “The cry of every man’s heart is for provision, protection, health and well-being. We require direction, revelation, truth, justice and more.” That heart cry can take many forms as they are found throughout scripture; the result of the divine response from God is peace and joy.

Martin follows with the lies of Satan we hear most often, and allows the scripture to speak the truth. “God has made a provision for His creation. It is the words of His holy scriptures. When we choose to read, hear, learn and speak the Word of God it is able to save us, deliver us, and protect us from lies and liars.” She then explores the meanings of “truth” as it is found in the Word of God. Whether we choose to embrace lies or truth, “what we take to heart rules and governs our emotions and affections.”

Communion and union with God through praying His word allows us to get God’s attention and “invites Him to intervene in the affairs of the earth and your life.” “Prayer facilitates the manifestation of God’s will and purpose.” Prayer establishes HOPE: Hearing God through His word, prayer and your experiences. Obedience to His word and the pastor He has designated to shepherd over you. God expects you to pray without ceasing and to expect His response. You will receive HOPE: God’s hearing ear, open access to His presence, peace while you wait for His response to your prayers, and eternal results. She also provides such mnemonics for TRUST. Praying God’s word allows Him to transform, prepare, build and establish your spirit in His presence.

Praying God’s word can take the form of intercession or meditation. The last chapters of the book provide topical scriptures for preparing oneself to be transformed and consecrated so you can achieve spiritual growth and strength to trust and forgive, and exhibit wisdom and the fruits of the Spirit in your life. There are also scriptures for those things that most affect our personal spiritual lives: family, finances, career, health, and emotions. She also provides scriptures for our relationship through God that affects church growth, nations, leaders and missions. What she calls a glossary contains no definitions, but provides an alphabetical topical index with page numbers.

While cleaning and cataloging books at the library I currently work at, I came across this book. A majority of these types of books have been donated or came from the chapel. Therefore, I wanted to glance at it to see if we could place it in the law library as a resource and so far this book only reads as a resource tool via scriptures under different subject areas. This is not your typical, easy, or normal read. Although it seems organized under subject and supporting scriptures, and also using the KJV or older translation of the Bible, I thought I was actually reading a prayer book or devotional instead of scriptures detailed under a subject heading.

*This will probably be in the box to return to the chapel or work center area, not cataloged to be in the library itself.

It was okay read but better as a resourceful tool if studying the scriptures or need a specific area to speak the word in your life.

Thank you Goodreads and Christine Martin for sending me this book!

This book is to help you understand God's word, will, and plan. It is intended to help you study the scripture and learn how they apply to your life and everyday situations. "Pray What God Says" will deepen your relationship with God through self-reflection and growth.
Full of scripture for every felling, need and purpose. From health, strength, wisdom, and confidence to serving, worshipping and obeying the Lord. Also dealing with rejection, loneliness, and anger.
Great book to have on your bedside table for those times of need or to reconnect with God.

The Prayers of the Righteous Availeth Much

Praying God's Word is powerful. In this book, there are Scriptures listed to pray for just about every situation and circumstance. I referenced this book during intercessory praying.

good idea but not executed well

Her thesis was sound and her writing was somewhat effective, yet she never fully explained how to pray what God says. It’s also unfortunate she used the KJV, which is difficult for most people to read and understand today.

I agree with the others who found this book cumbersome in lists, and light on much else. I also found the book comes written in a charismatic (mentions of speaking in tongues during a testimony, & declarations of miracles being active today) manner. Personally, theologically I am a reformed Presbyterian and such claims do not blend with my belief.
As a topical study, once you understand the premise of the book is to use verses of scripture for prayer, one will find several verses for various topics. This can be a useful tool to some, but at this point the book seems more like a reference source to bounce around in at times, than as a book to read cover to cover. Unfortunately I'm uncertain I'd use it as such as I feel there are plenty topical study bibles out there that give a broader scope than just the topics & verses the author here decided to cover.
As a collection of scripture I found hearing the word encouraging, and in this regard I can't give this book a completely negative review. There is truth that scripture is a powerful & useful tool for guiding and instructing us during prayer, and the start of the book does well in expressing that. Beyond that though I found myself ready to move on to picking up a different book to read cover to cover.

I love to pray Scriptures as it's a wonderful way to know that my prayers match God's will. This book has some brief chapters on prayer, and the rest of the book is a collection of Scriptures to use for particular supplications/intercessions. There was no context about using the Scriptures, just lists recommending certain verses for everything from physical health to finances to anger.

There was a lot of repetition--both in categories of prayers (I would have combined a number of categories as they were so similar) and in suggested Scriptures. I acknowledge that some verses are applicable in a number of situations, but often I think other Scriptures would have been more applicable than the ones cited. On occasion, I couldn't really understand why specific verses were listed in particular categories.

So while this can be helpful in praying God's Word, I don't think it's as effective as The Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God: A Handbook for Praying God's Word.

Thank you so much for chosing me for this give away, even though I never received my copy, I went out and bought it. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and had a good pace to it. I never received my free copy (that I won through first reads/good reads) I wanted to read it so I went out and got it. my self. Very inspirational and not just for one denomination but for anyone that wants or has a relationship with GOD. A great read.
