Stealing damning evidence from a certain covert ops section of Space Corps makes Jasmine a target. So what does she do? What any good undercover investigative journalist would do, she runs. Hops the first civilian transport ship out of there, of course the bad guys still find her. Luckily for her the dark and brooding half-human man she shares a bunk with, is a deft hand with a sword. Unluckily for him, helping her could be hazardous to his life!
Erica lives in New Zealand—otherwise known to the rest of the world as: that pretty scenic place where they made the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. She spends most of her time writing (also procrastinating), reading, hanging with her long suffering husband and frolicking with the neighbour’s cat. As a writer Erica delights in plotting evil and writing it all down for others to read and enjoy/despair–muahahahahahahahaha!
I don't remember much but they sound interesting..:)
"Shut up and kiss me?" she offered hopefully. "You are a very annoying woman, but I can do that."
You are annoying-" "Hey!" "Shut up and listen." "You are annoying, resourceful, intelligent, courageous, annoying-" "You said that already." "Beautiful, annoying-" "If you have a point, you better get to it before I smack you one." "I believe I am falling in love with you."

I loved it! Adrift, second book in the Callisto series is following Norik, the son of Viktor and S'rea . Norik is a colonel in the Space Corps who was forced by his crew to take a vacation. Instead of a quiet time as he makes his way back to his ship he finds trouble in a cute package - Jasmine. Jasmine is an investigative reporter who managed to infiltrate a rogue faction of the Space Corps and get evidence that they were genetically creating super soldiers. When the bad guys come to retrieve the evidence (the fetus in her belly) and Jasmine, Norik with all his complains jumps to rescue Jasmine.
Their first interaction sets up the tone for the whole book and grabbed my attention. The whole book was fast paced and full of action. Norik was brooding, tall, dark, handsome and a formidable adversary to the bad guys. Jasmine was a headstrong woman with sharp tongue who gives back as good as she gets. I like her "take charge: attitude and the fact that she didn't shy away from helping Norik while challenging him.
After reading the first book and having a glimpse/an idea about the Lyrissian civilization and mating I finally understood the coldness of their mating when Norik mated Jasmine. Pushed to his limits Norik took her violently and the way of his Lyrissian heritage. It was not an explosive, melt your insides encounter but it made sense. Norik is remorseful and sweet but surprisingly Jasmine understood him. Well, her idea of forgiveness was interesting (she kicked Norik to make her point when he didn't believe she was fine with his way of mating). What Jasmine doesn't know is that he mated her in the way of his mother's people.
The end of the book brings more questions than answers because the bad guy is revealed but not the dimension of his plans. The story is fast paced, entertaining, and creative. very creative. There are more aliens to explore and sample and indeed the romance was barely there but the book didn't lack in the build of the feelings. Both characters were well matched, head strong and grew to trust, like and love each other in time. Even though initially there was an instant attraction they took their time in building feelings. Besides, who said that little romance is no romance. Their HEA was as sweet as you can get: You are annoying-" "Hey!" "Shut up and listen." "You are annoying, resourceful, intelligent, courageous, annoying-" "You said that already." "Beautiful, annoying-" "If you have a point, you better get to it before I smack you one." "I believe I am falling in love with you."
For me this is a much better approach to the SF romance and I would have loved for this book to be longer or have more romance but in the end I loved it. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a light (very light) romance and a great alien world build in a distant future and if you had enough, for now, of the kidnapped and mated womens.
At first glance, it is a story of an intelligent, crafty, headstrong woman with a rapier wit and sharper tongue meets tall, dark, and handsome who has serious girl issues and a strong left cross. Jasmine is engaging and insufferable while Norik is tenacious and unforgiving. Immersed in the depths of space, a chance encounter becomes a fight for survival. Everything seems to spin out of control and all they can do is trust in each other.
This story comes at you fast and makes for a quick, good read, which makes you wonder what will happen to them next. If you are in for a different kind of romance, this one set against the backdrop of space, Callisto Adrift will do nicely.
This work was fast-paced, entertaining, and creative. It was also odd. I thought the interaction between the hero and heroine - especially them physically hurting each other - was strange. There wasn't so much romance as an initial attraction that wasn't fully developed. I wasn't sure what to think of Norik's crew, though they were an interesting bunch. This story is definitely something different, so kudos on originality.
Really enjoyed this free book. Would have liked it better if it was longer. Plenty of excitement. Sex scene was just eh. It either needed more or less but as is it's my least favorite part of the book. Will most likely read the other books in the series.
I liked this, wish it were longer. There were a few typos, like apologies instead of apologize, but overall the story has a good premise and good characters. I would read another by this author.
