David Charles Henshaw Austin was a British rose breeder and author. His emphasis was on breeding roses with the character and fragrance of old garden roses (such as gallicas, damasks and alba roses) but with the repeat-flowering ability and wide colour range of modern roses such as hybrid teas and floribundas. This is a great reference book to learn about all the different species of roses. It has lovely photos of all the plants and a detailed descriptions. I liked it a lot. I gave this book 3.5 out of 5 stars!
Gorgeous catalog of all rose breeds (so many!!) from A- Z, with a paragraph or two about each one and most beautifully illustrated with a photograph of that particular type of rose in full bloom.
Oh, wow! I got this at a thrift store for $2.50. One of my best finds ever. Beautiful, with HUNDREDS of roses, nearly all illustrated. The most complete rose book I've come across yet.
