Kim is a thirty-three year old bisexual submissive from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released almost 100 BDSM erotic romance titles ranging from short stories to full length novels. Having worked with a host of fantastic e-publishers, she has just moved into self publishing.
While she has occasionally ventured towards other pairings, Kim's first love is still, and probably always will be, Male/Male stories. But, no matter what the pairing, from paranormal to contemporary, and from the sweet to the intense, everything she writes will always feature three things - Kink, Love and a Happy Ending.
3.75 Hearts--"I'm the only one who's allowed to gag you," Joe growled. "And if I don't gag you, it's because I want to hear you."
I love reading this author. Her books make me happy.
A stuttering newly minted submissive gets his utmost desire to be dominated and fucked by his secret crush. Very cute way of getting what he wants.
Scott is adorable.
I love good D/s stories! And I love stuttering, shy MC's! This series is not one to miss! Short, straight to the point, bondage, light flogging and anal. Not even a half hour of your time.
This is my favourite kind of Kim Dare sugar-kink. Virginal-ish sub, toppy Dom with nice blend of arrogance and caring, and BDSM-lite. I read and enjoyed the first three in this series, BUT I will not buy the rest because I hugely dislike the practice of taking one full-length book, chopping it up into tiny sections, and selling each section at US$2.40. There's 12 in this series and each is a single nibble of the story. This means Dare will be charging US$28.80 for what should be one book, going at max for $6.99 or $7.99. The only voice I have to protest this strategy is to not purchase.
Nice pick Sunshine. Peachy approves of this hot little number muchly!
The fact that the reader got the perspective of both characters made it more than just a dirty scene and gave so much potential for the rest of the series. It really felt like the beginning of something that I will be reading.
An interesting, playful look at a young guy who is too shy to ask the man he’s interested in for what he wants. Instead, he sends a letter.
Interestingly, the story starts from Joe’s, the Dom’s, point of view. I liked the fact that I got to register his surprise and delight at Scott offering himself up. His decision to be careful as well as the difficulty he has in figuring out what Scott really wants, and what he is ready for. That was a good insight into what might be going on in someone’s head in that sort of an (unlikely) situation. At the same time as all this relatively rational reasoning is going on, the underlying sensuality is clearly making an impression on Joe.
With Scott, we get to see the opposite side of the coin. Sensuality, desire and lust are very much on the surface for him, with the occasional rational thought, or the attempt at rational thought, trying to break through. He may be the one who initiated the scene, but he does not stay in control. Exactly as he intended.
If you like D/s stories, I think you will find this a fun variation on the theme. One that brings out the differences between what goes on in each participant’s head with exceptional clarity. What actually happens may be relatively tame (in terms of BDSM), but doesn’t make it any less hot. Scott and Joe are definitely two men I want to know more about.
NOTE: This book was provided by Amber Allure for the purpose of a review.
This story starts in middle of action, which was a bit disappointing for me, not knowing the characters and jumping directly into a bdsm scene. The only thing what I did like were the emotions at the end, and a promise for more. Even if I have to admit that usually I don't like such plotted stories, which are to short for anything good, just for quick money. This will once again be one of those short series with low plotted chapters... which I definitely can't recommend on...
Who doesn’t like an air of mystery and intrigue? I know I do (especially if I received what was on the other side of this first invitation)! A kinky little intro to a new m/m series leveraging some good old-fashioned basics such as written communication to give it a different twist. Looking forward to seeing what Joe has up his sleeve next!
This series is designed to be read pretty much like each book is a new chapter. They are not standalone short stories and if you only read one or two, you will not get the full impact of the series as a whole. So do you rate the book or do you rate the series? I guess you can do both.
Joe receives an anonymous letter that instructs him to be at a certain address at a certain time. When he gets there, he finds Scott awaiting him. Scott is a very shy and inexperienced man who has admired Joe, an aggressive Dom and bartender of a club, for many months. He has seen Joe flirt and take home any man he wants, and Scott has no illusion that Joe would be interested in a meek, uninteresting man like himself. So when he dares to invite Joe to his place with an alluring letter, he is putting it all on the line.
This story was a good introduction to the series and pretty much sets the stage for their relationship. After this "scene" or encounter, Joe decides to send the next letter and thus begins the series with two men exchanging letters that allow them to learn each others basest desires.
This particular book, and the scene itself was pretty basic, but it's the overall series and the growing connection between the two men that makes this an enjoyable series on the whole. 3 stars for this "chapter".
This novella is probably the weakest book I have read by Kim Dare so far. Once I started wondering how the sub had managed to tie himself up without assistance, I was unable to relax into the story at all. In the past I have often said that I wished Kim's books were longer but this would have to be the first time I thought that one of her books was incomplete. This novella/short is too shallow to satisfy IMO & I don't think I'll bother paying for the rest of the series. I must confess that I feel a tad ripped-off & disappointed by this one.
This is a good and sexy little short/intro. Honestly, I was confused at first. Cuz I couldn't remember if Joe was the sub or the Dom. And the house was all weird I couldn't figure why he would go to some randos house that's dangerous!
But once the second guy is there it's all good. He's ohhhh so shy and I so sweet. Steamy little scene. It's cute they've both been crushing. Excited to see where it leads.
I never know how to rate these types of stories... do they deserve a "romance" rating. I suppose if you're into BDSM then this is a good romance. I feel so bad for Scott, being so tongue tied around the object of his obsession. But it seems to be working. The invitation was accepted and who knows where this will lead. Interesting short story if you are into Kim Dare or some lite BDSM.
I absolutely loved this. Joe and Scott were both wonderful and I would have loved to meet and spend time with them. Normal ordinary men, working and living and finding love, when they probably didn't expect it. The only thing I would have liked was a little bit from Scott about why he decided to write the original letter, that set up their first time, but once I got into the book, I was hooked.
Scott placed an anonymous note where only Joe could get it. He prepared by buying toys and binding himself to his bed. Joe responds by coming and is more than willing to take up Scott's unspoken offer. After a short scene, Joe writes a quick letter to Scott and warns him of the rules and that he doesn't share.
