The Moreau novels by S. Andrew Swann blend the thrills of science fiction, mystery, and intrigue with the chills of genetic engineering-in a highly acclaimed series that takes the creations of Dr. Moreau and Dr. Frankenstein into the future...
The twist introduced in the first story was unexpected but it flowed nicely.
The three stories contained in the omnibus are linked fairly well with a bit of time jumping between each.
The second story was certainly my favourite with the focus put on a "frank" (genetically engineered human) main character but the other two were also good with lots of colour and the continued evolution of the moreaus (genetically engineered/uplifted animals).
The action scenes were enjoyable as were the relationships presented.
After checking the original publishing date it seems like these novels were the inspiration behind the Genetech campaign setting for d20 Modern. Sadly the setting didn't credit the novels...
3 books in one. Fun series. I like the character development. It's a mystery/political intrigue, and I like the bases it is set on. Writing isn't too bad, but the editing is horrible. I almost stopped reading the first book in the novel because the editing was so atrocious. The second book was better, but the third book went back to the bad editing.
I liked the book. I wish that there had more overlapping throughout the story. but the differences in perspective were definitely interesting. I wish that there was a fourth book in this series and time that had the perspective of a human that wasn't mainstream, like Bobby. That would have been interesting, because an underlying theme throughout the stories was "Non-Humans vs Humans" or "Us against the world". I'd like to see the other side of the conflict. I also can't wait to read the other series of Swann's.
