A well written book by a Colonel who knows what it feels like to be a soldier. Historically accurate and moving depiction of a soldier who was assigned to kill all the male babies in Bethelem so Herod could make sure the Messiah could be removed. The other main character is one of the fathers of the slain baby boy. It felt like I was there, every step of the way.. Having been to Masada and the Sea of Galilee Tonight I was privileged to hear the author speak about his books and our discussion groups at meeting Nov 10 at 5 pm and Nov 15 at 10 am to talk about the book. Everyone who has read it is very excited....

It is also suitable with a lot of action for teens.

I loved this story! It's about a Jewish boy who decides to be a Roman soldier and is thrust into the task of murdering two-year-old or younger boy in Bethlehem. That task haunts him throughout his life. His life is riddled by loss of friendship and love, but finds his Messiah in the midst of his shattered life. This story of forgiveness is very sweet and one you don't want to miss!

Good Biblical historical fiction

Gave a good view of Jewish Roman soldier’s perspective especially about crazy Herod and the order to kill all of the male babies in Bethlehem.
