This is okay, I guess. Both of them are in love with each other for years. But Heath rejected Meadow when she confessed her feelings for him because he thought she was way too young that time, so he waited for her instead. Unfortunately, I have to say the story isn't really engaging, I think they moved too fast for me to feel the emotional connection between them. But that can be a me case, so idk. 🤷♀️
Anyway, I think the second book needs to be read to find out the culprit who's stealing money from Heath's company. So I'm just going to do that now.

Meadow ha estado enamorada de Heath desde que era una niña, pero cuando se lo confiesa él la rechaza y le rompe el corazón. Ahora, años después, apenas puede soportar estar en la misma habitación que él simplemente porque lo odia. Sí, de verdad, esos nervios y todo eso que siente? Es parte del odio, vale? Another sweet n smutty one by Alexa Riley. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for the second. This one ends on a sorta cliffie since this book is part of a duet (h/H are together but there’s no epilogue and it’s clear the ending is meant to dive into the next couple’s book.)

Meeting His Match, Book 1 of the Double Trouble duet, was about Heath Monroe and Meredith
First, let me say that this book was poorly titled. The MMC didn't "meet his match" in this story. The two main characters had known each other for most of their lives, to the point that they were practically in each others' pockets because their mothers were BFFs and the two families spent all their time together, including vacations.
When Meredith was sixteen, she confessed her love to Heath, only for him to shoot her down in a particularly harsh way. After that happened, Meredith and her twin sister, Briar, were constantly at odds with Heath and HIS twin brother, Mace. However, the two brothers, who were each in love with one of the twins, never truly let either girl out of their control. When one or both of the girls had a love interest, the brothers saw to it that nothing ever came of it. From the age of sixteen, all the way through to the sisters graduating from college, the brothers secretly and quietly controlled their lives. Once they had finished their schooling, all bets were off and the guys decided it was time to make their move...starting with Heath, the hero of this story.
When Heath hired Meredith's company to help him root out a problem with his firm, he chose her to be the one to help in order to get closer to her. He had decided that, since she'd recently graduated from college, he could finally make his move and claim her. To do that, he needed to break through the walls she had built up due to his past rejection. The fact that he managed to do that in such a short span of time was a bit unrealistic.
To be honest, it was a bit convoluted and unbelievable the lengths to which these two brothers went in order to make certain the sisters would end up with them. No one truly has that much control over someone else's life, unless they are being held captive.
The angst and drama were a bit over-inflated and out of proportion to the length of the story. The two MCs were really both immature and showed very little growth by the end of the book, even though they were each supposed to be the "smarter" twin in their set. The relationship progressed way too fast for all the hurt that Meredith was supposed to have endured over the years, and Heath showed little to no remorse for his past actions. The arrogance these two had was a bit OTT and misplaced.
The fact that this book ended on a cliffhanger didn't come as much of a surprise because nothing got resolved. Not the reason that Heath hired Meredith's company, not the reason behind WHY he put her through years worth of hell, and definitely not their engagement/wedding which, IMHO, was planned way too quickly. The whole thing felt off and, because of that, I couldn't give this short story more than a three-star rating, and that was being generous. This novella needs a lot of tweaking and it actually needs, dare I say it, to be longer with more content that explains what, how, who, when, and why. Only then will it be worthy of a higher rating.

I read book 2 first and to say, I actually loved the other twins better. I guess even though I am a fan of "it's always been you tropes" something about this seems off to me. but I love how much hurt the pining and rejection was articulately told in this book, here are some of my fave quotes:

June 30, 2025Una historia corta con un toque de humor, sin complicaciones ni sorpresas. Sin una escritura increíble pero tampoco horrible. Es una buena opción si tienes poco tiempo y aún así no quieres dejar una historia a medias porque se lee enseguida —eso sí, aunque la trama romántica tiene un cierre no la tiene en esta primera parte el tema del dinero desaparecido—.
Me parece linda la relación de ambas hermanas, siempre me pone de buen humor ver a hermanos que están muy unidos y se cuidan bonito.
Me parece lógica la razón por la que Heath no ha dado un paso para estar con Meadow aún, pero me choca un poco más que solo por un rechazo muy suave ella —y su hermana— decidieran hacerle la guerra a Heath y a su hermano. También está el tema de como ambos hermanos están demasiado atentos a ellas, tratando de romperles las posibilidades de tener otras parejas, espiándolas... Dan un poco de mal rollo.

"Meeting His Match" is the story of Meadow and Heath.
A fun read with two set of twins, Meadow loved Heath but he rejected her. She's left heartbroken, and grows up. However, neither of them have moved on, and things soon get serious..

This wasn’t bad. It was short and everything moved pretty quickly. I loved how all in Heath was when it came to Meadow. I do wish she would have make him work for it a little more though. I loved Briar so I may read the next one.
